Onze professionele gidsen zijn er om u bij elke stap te helpen. Hoewel er een algemeen overzicht van uw safari is, zal uw gids met u praten over de plannen van elke dag. Hij zal je vertellen over het land dat je bezoekt, zijn geschiedenis, tradities, het gebied dat je bezoekt, wat je ziet; hij neemt je mee naar de mooiste plekken, zorgt voor eventuele formaliteiten of onderhandelingen met de lokale bevolking en zorgt voor je veiligheid en comfort. Ze zijn allemaal bedreven in bushcraft en kunnen je ook vertellen over de lokale tradities, dieren in het wild, de vogels identificeren en je helpen meer te weten te komen over de wereld om je heen. Al onze gidsen spreken zowel Engels als hun lokale taal en sommigen spreken ook Frans en Spaans. Dagen variëren afhankelijk van uw specifieke schema, wegomstandigheden en wat u zou willen doen. Een typische dag kan zich zo ontvouwen:
Je staat voor zonsopgang op als er warme koffie en thee wordt geserveerd. De lucht is koud als de zon opkomt en glinstert op de open vlaktes. Dit is de beste tijd om de dieren in het wild te zien. Je camera is klaar voor gebruik en je hebt je kleding gelaagd om je warm te houden. Ga de bush in en zoek naar leeuwen, olifanten, giraffen en vlaktes wild. Elke beurt biedt iets unieks - een leeuwin en haar welpen, een kudde olifanten die naar een waterput verhuist, een cheeta die een gazelle besluipt. Je gamedrive in de ochtend duurt ongeveer twee uur, afhankelijk van wat je ziet. Keer terug naar de lodge voor een heerlijk ontbijt. Na het ontbijt is er tijd om te ontspannen na zonsopgang of nu is het tijd om deel te nemen aan eventuele aanvullende activiteiten die de lodge kan aanbieden - zoals wandelingen, dorpsbezoeken, of fietstochten.
De lunch wordt meestal geserveerd in een kamp/lodge, tenzij je een hele dag gamedrive maakt, wanneer ze een picknicklunch hebben. In de middag ga je weer op pad; op zoek naar de bijzondere soort die je misschien is ontgaan. Als de zon ondergaat, keer dan terug naar het kamp voor een warme douche. Geniet daarna van een heerlijk diner en na het diner een drankje in de lounge. Er is misschien ook een kans om rond het kampvuur te zitten en verhalen over de bush uit te wisselen. Iedereen gaat vervroegd met pensioen met grote verwachting op het avontuur van de volgende dag!
Als je op safari bent, is je schema op de meeste locaties flexibel; sommige locaties hebben echter vaste tijden voor gamedrives of wandelingen. Je kunt altijd met de gastheren van de kampen/lodge praten om de schema's aan te passen en zij zullen proberen je tegemoet te komen. De beperking is om je aan de parkregels en reistijden te houden die nodig zijn om je naar je bestemming te brengen. Je gidsen zullen altijd hun aanbevelingen geven, maar zijn er om naar je behoeften te luisteren.
Bij aankomst op Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi word je opgewacht door een medewerker van Classic Journeys Africa Customer Care die je zal helpen met de transfer naar je hotel. Voordat je in het hotel incheckt, informeert hij je over het programma en stelt hij je voor aan de gids-chauffeur die de hele safari bij je zal zijn.

Na het ontbijt en een korte briefing door je gids, rijd je naar het wereldberoemde Masai Mara National Reserve, decor van 'het grootste wildlife spektakel op aarde', de jaarlijkse migratie van meer dan een miljoen gnoes. Kom op tijd aan voor de lunch in je kamp.
Breng de middag door op safari in Kenia's meest populaire reservaat. Kom op tijd terug in het kamp voor kampvuurcocktails en het avondeten.

Je dag breng je door op safari in Afrika's rijkste arena voor het bekijken van wild. Van oudsher krioelt het van het wild, de Mara herbergt Kenia's grootste leeuwenfamilies en olifantenkuddes. Andere roofdieren zijn onder meer luipaard, cheeta en gevlekte hyena; terwijl je in de Mara rivier vette scholen nijlpaarden en uitgestrekte Nijlkrokodillen ziet.
Andere hoogtepunten zijn giraffetoppen, gazellen, zebra's, buffels en meer dan 550 vogelsoorten.
Maak van de gelegenheid gebruik om over de Mara te vliegen in een heteluchtballon, tegen meerprijs. Het ballonpakket is inclusief een champagne-ontbijt in het wild! Als je het geld ervoor over hebt, is het bekijken van overvloedig wild tijdens het zweven in een ballon een onvergetelijke ervaring. Als alternatief kun je tegen betaling een Masai dorp bezoeken en de Masai cultuur leren kennen.

Na je ontbijt vertrek je naar Lake Naivasha om op tijd aan te komen voor check in en een late lunch, gevolgd door ontspanning in je kamp.
Geniet vanmiddag tegen betaling van een optionele boottocht naar het Halvemaan Eiland - Het Park waar je met de Dieren wandelt! Er is maar één "Crescent Island Game Park" en het ligt aan Lake Naivasha, Kenia in de Grote Rift Vallei. Er zijn meer dieren per acre dan in welk ander Keniaans Park ook, vandaar dat veel filmmaatschappijen naar het eiland zijn geweest om de kuddes Wildebeesten, Waterbokken, Zebra's en Gazellen te filmen.
Ze zijn niet omheind, waardoor het wild van het vasteland binnen kan komen, terwijl het zijn habitat verliest aan ontwikkeling en de steeds groeiende bevolking. Nijlpaarden grazen 's nachts over ons heen en slapen dan onder de acacia's of rusten overdag in het water. De giraffen die op het eiland geboren zijn komen terug om te bevallen; soms zie je drie generaties tegelijk. Hyena's komen 's nachts jagen maar zijn geen bewoner van het eiland, de vele pythons die hier leven kun je af en toe met een prooi zien. Groepen buffels komen en gaan, maar ze worden steeds in de gaten gehouden.
Vanaf de top van de heuvel is er een 360 graden uitzicht over het meer van Longonot naar Hell's Gate naar de Mau Escarpment naar Eburu en naar de Aberdares. Wandelen langs de bergkam in het gouden uur voor zonsondergang terwijl je de dieren ziet grazen met het water erachter glinsterend, dat is waar het in Afrika om gaat. Neem een boot terug naar de lodge.

Vanochtend rijd je naar Amboseli National Park, dat beroemd is om zijn grote olifantenpopulatie die over de uitgestrekte grasvlakten zwerft, de big five, en de majestueuze uitzichten op Mt. Kilimanjaro de hoogste berg van Afrika, naast andere soorten flora en fauna.
Kom op tijd in Amboseli aan voor de lunch, gevolgd door een namiddagrit in het park om wild te bekijken.
Je rijdt door over deze uitgestrekte meerbedding, vaak droog maar op sommige plaatsen moerassig. Er is hier veel wild, zoals cheeta's, buffels, giraffen, gazelles en kuddes olifanten, alles tegen de geweldige achtergrond van de majestueuze Kilimanjaro die al zijn glorie toont.
Als je wilt, kun je tegen een nominale vergoeding ook een Masai dorp bezoeken om de levenswijze van deze nomadische stam te ervaren en hun kleurrijke cultuur te zien.

Drive to Tsavo West National Park arriving in time for lunch, at just over 8,000 square miles; Tsavo is the largest national park in Kenya and one of the largest in the world. Because of its size the park was split into two, Tsavo West and Tsavo East, for easy administration. Located midway between Nairobi and the coast, the area boasts volcanic hills, four rivers, more than 60 major mammal species and 1,000 plant species. The northern part of Tsavo West is the most developed and has spectacular scenery with a rolling volcanic landscape carpeted in long grass and dense bush.
Although the tall vegetation makes game spotting trickier than in some of the other parks, Tsavo West's bio-diversity is amazing. The landscape is a mixture of grassland and forest shrub vegetation. Thus driving and exploring the vegetation almost assures you close encounters with the following animals: lions, leopard, cheetah, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, kongoni, waterbuck, klipspringer, impala, gazelles, buffalos, and elephants. Apart from Tsavo’s elephant population there are many lion –some undoubtedly the descendants of the infamous and feared “Man-eaters of Tsavo” popularized in the film Ghost in the Darkness. In addition to lion the resident carnivores in Tsavo include serval, hyena, leopard, cheetah, and caracal. The landscape is dominated, especially off the hills, by the giant baobab, a tree which is reputed to live 1,000 years.
Tsavo West is famous for the Mzima Springs. This star attraction is a pool of natural spring water with underwater viewing hides for observing hippos where a gushing supply of fresh, crystal clear water has created an oasis for wildlife. A specially constructed underwater observatory provides visitors with a unique view into the underwater world of Mzima. The water catchment is divided into two pools; here you can view hippos and crocodiles. The upper pool is occupied by the hippos and lower pool by the crocodiles. In your stay you will also visit the rhino sanctuary in Ngulia where most of Tsavo's surviving rhino, plus a number of re-located animals, have been moved and where a meter-high electric fence surrounds an area of 70 sq km now designated an official sanctuary for approximately 40 rhinos. The Sanctuary also offers shelter to a broad range of other threatened wildlife to include cheetahs and leopards and the rare frog (Afrixalus pygmaeus septentrionalis).

Today marks the end of your bush expedition. Have breakfast at your lodge after which you will check out. Your driver guide will meet you at the lobby and after packing all your bags in the customized safari minibus, depart Tsavo West with a game enroute. You will then rejoin with the Nairobi – Mombasa highway and head for Diani Beach. Arrive at Papillon Lagoon Reef your home for the next three days. You will spend your days relaxing at Diani!
In your beach stay days stroll along the soft white sands, take a cool dip in the pool, simply relax on the beach, watch the sunrise & sit back and enjoy the charms of the African wilderness.

Today marks your last day at Diani, spend the day at your resort, transfer to Mombasa SGR station, to board your train to Nairobi. Spend your last minute doing shopping before being dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

a) Classic Journeys Africa Inclusions & Exclusions
INCLUSIONS
• Accommodation in carefully selected properties in all East African countries as per the itineraries.
• Transport in 4 X 4 Land cruisers or comfortable safari minibus, driven by a naturalist driver/guide.Multi lingual driver guides can also be provided.
• Two ½ litre size bottles of mineral water each day for each guest while on safari.
• All meals while on safari as per the itineraries.
• All park entry fees.
• All transfers as indicated in the itineraries.
EXCLUSIONS
• International flights
• Things of personal nature and any other service not included in the itinerary
• Passport and visa fees and service charges for obtaining visas.
• Personal and baggage insurance.
• Cost for anything not specifically mentioned in the listing above.

b) How to Book (Applicable for this booking only)
Send a deposit of 30% of the total tour cost. On receipt of your deposit, subject to availability, we will reserve your place on your selected safari. Full payment to be done 1 month before arrival date of the tour.
c) Final Payment
Final payment is due two months prior to departure. Costs of gratuities to driver guides, lodge/hotel staff, as well as any excursion not related to the safari, and other items of personal nature are not included.
d) Accommodation Substitution
Should the case arise whereby accommodation is not available at the quoted hotels/Lodges/Tented camps alternative accommodation will be provided at hotels/lodges/tented camps of similar caliber.
e) Diet
Guests with special dietary requirements are advised to warn us well in advance before your departure.
f) Luggage
Please keep your luggage light – soft duffel bags are preferable. Luggage is limited to 15kg per person on internal local flights.
g) Passport and visas
The onus is upon the client to ensure that passport and visas are valid for the countries listed. The company, its staff and its agents cannot be held liable for any visas etc. not held by the clients.
h) Photography
The company reserves the right without further notice to make use of any photography or film taken on safari by our staff for general purposes without payment or permission.
i) Check-in and check-out times
Rooms are available for check in at 1200 Noon on the scheduled arrival date. Rooms should be vacated by 1000Hrs on the scheduled departure date. Special consideration may be extended on departure time subject to anticipated arrivals.
j) Changes to Schedule
Although every effort is made to adhere to schedules it should be borne in mind that the Company reserves the right, and in fact is obliged, to occasionally change routes and accommodations on safaris as dictated by changing conditions. Such conditions may be brought by force majeure” or statutory directive, seasonal rainfall on bush tracks, airfields and game areas, or game migrations from region to another or reservation problems, etc. However, the company shall make all reasonable efforts in resolving the situation not limited to offering alternative
k) Airline Clause
Flight fares, taxes and schedules are subject to change without prior notification by the airlines. The company will not be held liable for these changes and delays. The airlines cannot be held liable for any act, omission or event during the time the passengers are not on board their plane or conveyance. The passengers’ tickets in use by the airline or by other carriers concerned when issued, shall constitute a sole contract between the airline and the purchaser of these tickets and or passengers. Please note that the company subcontracts the flying services to independent charter operations, and they are responsible for the flying. The same will apply to train services.
l) Guide Substitution
If one of our guides is unable to take a safari due to illness or other reasons, we reserve the right to substitute with another guide.
m) Prices
We will do our outmost to keep the prices as quoted or published. Should fluctuation in statutory taxes, exchange rates, etc. force increases on us; we reserve the right to surcharge without notice, up to maximum of 10% of the tour rate.
n) Participant Incompatibility
The company may, at its discretion and without liability of its cost to itself, at any time cancel or terminate the passengers booking and in particular without limiting the generality of the forgoing, it shall be entitled to do in the event of illness or illegal or incompatible behaviour of the passenger, who shall in such circumstances not be entitled to any refund.
o) Publicity Materials
The company reserves the right to use any photograph or film taken during the safari by any appointed representative of The Company, for the use in The Company’s advertising or publicity material, without obtaining further consent from the client prior to the departure of the client’s appointed safari
p) Fitness
The client acknowledges that the safari can sometimes be demanding and it’s his/her responsibility to ensure that he/she is sufficiently fit and able to embark on the tour.
q) Authority of the Safari leader
Clients will accept the authority and decisions of the safari leader appointed by the Company. The final decision on the itinerary, accommodation and conduct on the safari will be taken by the safari leader appointed by the Company.
r) Liability
• The company is insured against legal liabilities arising from any injuries which might be received by passengers in its vehicles. The Company’s liability to passengers carried in its vehicles is governed by the laws of Kenya and no other Country, and all claims subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
• The Company reserves the right to employ sub-contractors to carry out all or part of the Services agreed to be supplied and in the event of the exercise of such right the terms of clause relating to The Company is subject to the booking conditions and cancellation provisions of the Travel organizer or the airline concerned.
• Neither the Company, nor any person acting for, through or on behalf of The Company shall be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever and without restricting the generality of errors or omission contained in the brochure or other literature, late or non-confirmations or acceptance of bookings, loss or damage caused by delays, sickness or death whether occasioned by the negligence or not.
• In addition, The Company shall have the right at any time at its discretion to cancel any tour or the reminder thereof or make alteration on route, accommodation, price or other details and in the event of any tour being rendered impossible, illegal or inadvisable by the weather, avalanches, strike, war, government or interference or any other cause whatsoever. The extra expense incurred as a result thereof shall be the responsibility of the passenger.
• Please be aware that these safaris may take you into close contact with wild animals. Attacks by wild animals are rare, but no safari into the African Wilderness can guarantee that this will not occur. Neither the company, nor its employees, nor its agents can be held responsible for any injury or incident on the safari.
Governing Law
All terms and conditions of this agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance to the laws of Kenya, and any litigation necessary to resolve disputes between the parties shall be field in the courts located in Kenya where such a dispute cannot be solved through arbitration.
