In the morning check out from your Cairo hotel after breakfast and transfer to the airport for a domestic flight to Luxor (book yourself). Upon arrival, you’ll be met by your guide. Your first destination of the day will be the Valley of the Kings, a famous necropolis that has the tombs of the kings of ancient Egypt. Travel next to the amazing temple of Hatshepsut, who was the first woman to rule over Egypt. This temple was used as a monastery in the Christian era. This is why it is also famous as El Deir Al Bahri, or Northern Monastery’.
Your last stop of the day will be the gigantic Colossi of Memnon. These two, 18 m-high statues are the only remaining items of the temple of Amenhotep III.
After lunch, we’ll visit the massive temple of Karnak complex, part of the ancient city of Thebes. Dedicated to the powerful God Amun, it offers a vast mix of temples, chapels, statues and obelisks. It was linked to the town of Luxor by a long Sphinx lined avenue. The much photographed Hypostyle Hall has an impressive 134 towering columns, each is carved with scenes of gods and pharaohs, and hieroglyphic inscriptions cover the walls.
Proceed, to the smaller Luxor Temple, which is in the center of town. Admire its beautiful Obelisks and Statues of King Ramesses the Great.
