Itinerary

De kleine groepsreis naar Samegrelo- Zemo Svaneti begint in Tbilisi. Wandel naar de gletsjer van Chalaadi of beleef een offroad jeepavontuur naar Ushguli. Verken een mix van lokaal cultureel erfgoed in de afgelegen steden Zugdidi, Mestia en Senaki, bezoek de archeologische vindplaats Nokalakevi en de natuurlijke schoonheid van Martvili Canyon, ontmoet de lokale bevolking en proef heerlijke wijnen en gerechten. Tour program

Day 1

Tbilisi - Nokalakevi - Martvili - Mukhuri

Total drive: 5 hr 5 min (348 km)

Your guide and driver will pick you up from your Tbilisi hotel at 08:00 to begin the tour.

The first stop is the Nokalakevi archaeological museum-reserve, where you'll have a one-hour guided tour. Explore the renovated museum, thermal baths, churches, citadel, and escape tunnel.

Next, visit Martvili Canyon, where you can enjoy the views of Samegrelo waterfalls and take a 20-minute boat ride on the Abasha River. The tour here lasts about an hour.

In the evening, arrive in Mukhuri, a small town offering a unique experience.

Stay overnight at a family guesthouse, giving you a chance to experience local life. Dinner and overnight in Mukhuri.

Day 2

Mukhuri - Enguri Dam - Mestia Omgeving

Total drive: 3 hr 22 min (141 km)

08:30 Breakfast at the guesthouse. Head to Mestia, driving upwards to Caucasus mountain serpentines.

20-30 minutes photo stop at Enguri hydroelectric Dam-an impressive Soviet construction. It requires a nonstop drive to Upper Svaneti, but we do as many stops as necessary on the way.

Arrive in Mestia, an administrative center of Svaneti region, surrounded by three major ancient villages Latali, Lenjeri and Mulakhi and visit defensive towers decorated with medieval frescos.

See Svaneti's housing estate tower-museum of Margiani (12th c.), Seti square and the Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography, displaying old Georgian manuscripts, ethnographic and archaeological materials, Georgian Orthodox icons painted in the Svan style etc.

Dinner and overnight in Mestia.

Day 3

Mestia - Ushguli Jeep tour

Jeep tour to Ushguli- one of the highest continually inhabited places in Europe and an authentic community of four villages, located 45 km away from Mestia. Because of its historical and cultural values Ushguli is included in World Heritage Sites list by the UNESCO. Visit the church of the Mother of God-Lamaria church. Afterwards walk to Shkhara-the highest mountain in Georgia (5068 m), located in the very east of Svaneti, near village Ushguli.

After a full adventurous day drive back to Mestia. Dinner and overnight in Mestia.

Dag 4

Mestia - Zugdidi - Tbilisi

Totaal rijden: 7 uur 37 min (467 km)

We ontbijten in het pension in Mestia en rijden naar Zugdidi, het huidige administratieve centrum van de regio Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti. Tijdens het volgende uur bezoeken we Dadiani Palace Historical Museum en Botanische tuin. Op de boerenmarkt van Zugdidi kun je lokale kruiden, zelfgemaakte sauzen, Sulguni en honing kopen.

Rijd terug naar Tbilisi. s Avonds brengen we je naar je hotel voor overnachting.

Optioneel Galadiner in een restaurant in Tbilisi moet van tevoren worden geregeld.
