Le trek du lac Rara est depuis longtemps une destination de trekking populaire dans l'ouest du Népal, malgré son accessibilité limitée. La vue de la culture et des paysages le long du chemin est assez différente de celle de l'Annapurna et du trek de l'Everest.
Le lac Rara est le plus grand et le plus profond des lacs d'eau douce de l'Himalaya népalais, à 2 990 mètres d'altitude, avec une surface d'eau de 10,8 kilomètres carrés et une profondeur maximale de 167 mètres. Il a été désigné site Ramsar en septembre 2007, avec une superficie totale de 15,83 kilomètres carrés, y compris les marécages environnants. Le lac Rara, dans le parc national de Rara, est entouré de magnifiques pics himalayens enneigés. Le parc national de Rara (avec une flore de 1074 espèces, dont 16 sont endémiques au Népal ; une faune de 51 mammifères et 214 oiseaux) a été créé en 1976 pour protéger la beauté du lac.

Le trek commence par un vol panoramique de 45 minutes depuis Nepalgunj dans l'après-midi. Le lendemain matin, vous vous envolerez pour Jumla. Ensuite, des sentiers de randonnée hors du commun vous mèneront à travers Baragaun, Pina et Gumgari avant d'arriver au lac Rara. La société Thakur régit la communauté dans la région. Le temple de Thakur Baba est situé dans le coin sud-est du lac. Les habitants croient que le dieu Thakur a utilisé une flèche pour ouvrir le passage du lac, réduisant ainsi les dégâts causés par les inondations. Une grande partie du sentier traverse des forêts de rhododendrons, de pins, d'épicéas et de genévriers, avec en toile de fond les sommets de l'Himalaya occidental tels que l'Api Himal, le Saipal et le Buraburi.
La meilleure période pour le trek du lac Rara :
Le Népal a quatre saisons. Cependant, l'automne et le printemps sont les meilleures saisons pour faire du trekking au lac Rara. Septembre, octobre et novembre sont les mois idéaux pour profiter du climat frais et de la brise, ainsi que des vues magnifiques sur les divers paysages et montagnes. Printemps (mars, avril et mai) : Le temps est ensoleillé et agréable, ce qui constitue un environnement idéal pour les randonnées.
Quelle est la durée du trekking du lac Rara ?
Le lac Rara est le plus grand lac du Népal, situé à 3 000 mètres d'altitude dans le parc national de Rara. Cette merveille naturelle se trouve à environ deux semaines de marche de Katmandou à Katmandou. Vous y verrez non seulement des beautés naturelles et des vues à couper le souffle, mais aussi une flore et une faune variées. L'itinéraire alternatif pour Rara consiste à prendre une Jeep jusqu'à Nagma, puis à marcher pendant environ une demi-journée jusqu'au lac Rala et à revenir.

Our office representative will meet you at the hotel and transfer you to the airport to catch your flight to Nepalgunj. You will be able to see magnificent snow-capped mountains stretching from the north to the far east. When you arrive in Nepalgunj, you will be transferred to your hotel. There will be time in the evening to walk around the town and surroundings before returning to the hotel.

In the morning, you will be brought to the domestic airport for your flight to Jumla. Jumla is the administrative center of the Karnali Zone. From Jumla, begin walking towards Padmara. You'll pass through Dansanhu, the confluence of Tila and the Chaudbise River, before heading through a pine forest to Urtus, the next confluence of Chaudbise Khola and Ghurseni Khola. A bridge leads east to the Chaudbise area, from which you will climb steeply through a narrow gorge in the Ghurseni Khola.

You will walk towards Burma along the Ghurseni stream and begin climbing the first pass, Khali Langa (3545m), which is approximately 4 kilometers from Padmara. Later, you'll walk down the right bank of the stream for an hour through dense forest until you reach a log bridge over the Sinja Khola. You will cross the bridge and begin walking up to Bumra, which is approximately two kilometers away.

Before you start your journey, enjoy a filling breakfast. Begin by following a trail that runs in line to the river bank for about an hour and a half until you arrive at Bhargaon (2890m). From there, follow the path to the Ghautha River's branch streams. You will cross these streams over log bridges before ascending to Chautha. After an hour's walk from Chautha, the valley opens into a peaceful meadow. Climb the narrow gorge on the northeast slope and head north towards Pine.

Have breakfast, and then head to Rara Lake. From Pine, follow a trail up a steep, north-facing slope that leads to a flat meadow before descending to the stream. You will cross the stream and climb to the hamlet of Jhari (2500m), which will take approximately two hours. From Jhari, climb west along a ridge to a low saddle. From here, it's a pleasant descent to the lake's south-side meadows. Rara (3040m) village on the north side is a pleasant two-hour walk along the lake's western bank.

Rara Lake, situated within Rara National Park, is Nepal's largest lake, attracting visitors with its vast beauty. Its vastness, measuring approximately 5 kilometers in length and 3 kilometers in width, forms an oval with a captivating east-west center. The lake, surrounded by green hills and dense forests, provides a peaceful retreat within nature's embrace. Chuchemara Danda (4087m) offers breathtaking views of the lake and the snow-capped peaks beyond. After exploring the surrounding landscapes, relax and recharge at your campsite.

Have breakfast in the morning, and later today, you will leave Rara's outskirts and begin walking through the outlet of Rara Lake by following downstream of Khatyar Gad for one hour. Cross the stream on the south side with a log bridge and gradually climb uphill through dense forest until you reach the tree line. The ridge continues to the south for another 200 meters, but it is a pleasant walk with a remote view of the mountains. To reach Ghorasain, descend a steep trail from the ridge's east side.

After your breakfast, you will leave Ghorasain behind and you will start walking for Sinja. You will descend through the valley to Botan (2895m). From Botan, you will climb to Diyabala Ridge. This ridge lies south of Ghorasain and offers beautiful panoramic views of the surroundings. From Diyabale Danda, the trail leads to the high fields of Lumsa and then descends to Okharpati village on a high shelf above Mindrabali Gad. Finally, you have to descend to the Sinja village, which takes about 2 hours.

You will start walking towards Chere Chaur. Your walk will begin by crossing a log bridge over Sinja Khola to the east and following the bank of Jaljale Gad. After following the river bank for a while, you will begin ascending over the ridge (2865m). We will continue down the trail until we reach Jumla's headquarters. Gad drains into Jumla town, and another kilometer walk brings us to the stunning Chere Chaur.

Begin your trek through the picturesque alpine pasture of Chere Chaur, which offers stunning views of Jumla town, Tila Valley, and Chyakhure Hill. After several hours of trekking, you'll arrive in Jumla, where you'll check into your lodge, relax, and then explore the scenic surroundings.

Today marks the end of your journey through western Nepal. You will travel to Jumla airport to catch a flight to Nepalgunj and then back to Kathmandu. When you arrive in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel, which will bring your memorable adventure to a close.

Your trip will come to an end today. After breakfast, our representative will pick you up with a private van and drop you off at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport approximately three hours before your scheduled flight back to your home or other destination.

Introductory provision:
“Company” refers to Asian Heritage Travel.
“Customer” refers to any person or organization trading with the Company or its employees or sub-contractors whether relating to the Companies products or services.
“Contract” refers to the agreement between the Company and the Customer in relation to a booking.
“Holiday package” refers to any activity, trek, tour, course, accommodation or service offered by the Company.
“Working days” means: Sundays to Fridays, with the exception of recognized public holidays.
“Office hours” mean: Sundays to Fridays from 08:00-18:00, with the exception of recognized public holidays.
“Group member” refers to an individual who falls within a group which is related to a Holiday package being offered by the Company.
Terms & Conditions:
These Terms and Conditions, together with all information relating to your chosen Holiday package, shall be part of the Contract between Asian Heritage Treks & Expeditions (“the Company”) and you (“the Customer”). Please read them carefully as they set out your and our respective rights and obligations. By asking the Company to confirm your booking, the Company is entitled to assume that the Customer has had the opportunity to read these booking conditions and legally agrees to abide by them.
Note:
When you confirm the Holiday package, we need a photo copy of your passport and upon the creation of the Contract; a deposit must be paid equal to 15% of the total agreed travel sum. The remainder of the travel sum must be received by the Company no later than six weeks before the day of departure. If the Contract is concluded within 6 weeks of the day of departure, the travel sum must be paid immediately and in full. Different terms and conditions may exist between other Customers and the Company; these terms and conditions are not transferable. In addition, payment arrangements may differ. This will not render the remainder of the contract void.
Asian Heritage Travel cannot be held responsible for the following:
• Injury, accident, illness, death while on the Holiday package unless negligence is proven against the Company.
• The loss, theft or damage to valuable or personal property such as camera, sunglasses, luggage.
• Alterations in the itinerary, and any subsequent costs, resulting from such events as illness of a Group member, unsafe weather conditions, delayed flights, and non-granting of permits or visas.
Cancelation charges:
Should you need to cancel your chosen Holiday package after it has been confirmed, you must immediately inform the Company in written form by recorded delivery post, fax or email. The notice of cancellation will only be effective when the Company receives it in written form. Cancellations outside Office hours are deemed to have been made on the next Working day.
If a contract is cancelled, the Customer is liable to pay cancellation charges in addition to any booking charges. The cancellation charges are as follows:
• cancellation up to the 42nd day before the day of departure: the deposit;
• cancellation from the 42nd day up to the 28th day before the day of departure: 35% of the travel sum;
• cancellation from the 28th day up to the 21st day before the day of departure: 40% of the travel sum;
• cancellation from the 21st day up to the 14th day before the day of departure: 50% of the travel sum;
• cancellation from the 14th day up to the 5th day before the day of departure: 75% of the travel sum;
• cancellation from the 5th day up to the day of departure: 90% of the travel sum;
• cancellation on the day of departure or later: the full travel sum.
