Itinéraire

Le Kanchenjunga Himal, délimité à l'ouest par la rivière Tamur, au nord par le Lhonak Chu et le Jongsang La, et à l'est par la rivière Teesta, est la troisième plus haute montagne du monde. La section himalayenne du Kanchenjunga se trouve à la fois au Népal et en Inde et comprend 16 sommets de plus de 7 000 mètres. Le Kanchenjunga, qui signifie "les cinq trésors des hautes neiges", est un trésor caché du pays. Cette région présente des écozones complexes : savanes et prairies, forêts de feuillus et de conifères, arbustes alpins et prairies. Elle abrite une grande variété de biodiversité et de microclimats.

Vue d'ensemble :

Le Kanchenjunga est l'une des plus belles montagnes du monde et est considéré comme la demeure des dieux. Il s'agit d'un vaste territoire peu peuplé, entouré de nature, au milieu de paysages sauvages et préservés. Le Kanchenjunga fait partie de la zone de conservation du Kanchenjunga. Il abrite une grande variété de biodiversité, notamment le panda roux et le léopard des neiges, le "fantôme de la montagne".


Traversant de petits villages à flanc de colline, des forêts pluviales sauvages, des zones alpines reculées, des réseaux de rivières, des glaciers et des moraines, vous atteindrez la base de la troisième plus haute montagne du monde. C'est là que les destinations prennent vie et que l'expérience du trekking est la plus honnête qui soit. Le trek du camp de base du Kanchenjunga Nord est un trek physiquement exigeant. Un niveau élevé de forme physique et mentale est donc requis. En moyenne, vous gagnerez 400 à 800 mètres d'altitude par jour.


Le trek du camp de base du Kanchenjunga Nord commence par un vol panoramique de Katmandou à Bhadrapur. Une fois arrivé à Bhadrapur, vous prendrez un long trajet en voiture jusqu'à Taplejung. Le trajet vous emmène des basses terres plates du Terai aux collines de Churia, la plus jeune chaîne de collines présente dans la partie sud du pays. Depuis Taplejung, commencez votre randonnée vers le village de Sinuwa. Ensuite, en suivant la piste forestière, vous atteindrez le petit village de Chirwa.


En suivant les réseaux de rivières et en traversant de profondes étendues sauvages, vous vous dirigez vers la vallée de Ghunsa Khola et finalement vers le village de Sakathum. De Sakathum, vous vous dirigez vers le village tibétain d'Amjilosa. En quittant Amjilosa, le sentier boisé de rhododendrons et de bambous atteint le petit village de Gyable. Ensuite, le sentier vous fait traverser de grands pâturages alpins, des villages et des sections de nature sauvage jusqu'à Gunsa. Un grand village tibétain perché au cœur de la zone de conservation du Kanchenjunga. Après une excursion d'acclimatation pour explorer les merveilles de Gunsa, vous vous dirigez vers Kambachen. Le long du sentier, vous traverserez plusieurs pentes et moraines glaciaires. Puis, en suivant le côté nord du glacier du Kanchenjunga et le terrain plat après le glacier de Lhonak, vous atteindrez le village de Lhonak. Depuis le village, admirez les vues splendides sur les pics Wedge, Mera, Nepal et Twins.


Suivez ensuite les traces du glacier de Lhonak sur les crêtes du nord. En traversant les montagnes, vous atteindrez le camp de base du Kanchenjunga. Depuis le camp de base, vous aurez une vue panoramique grandiose sur le puissant mont Kanchenjunga, le Janu Himal, l'Everest, le Makalu, le Tharpu Chuli, le Kabru, et une infinité d'autres chaînes de montagnes, de cascades de glace et de glaciers.


Le jour suivant, vous traverserez des sentiers de descente qui vous mèneront jusqu'au village de Ghunsa. De Ghunsa, en suivant la riche et profonde nature sauvage, vous vous dirigez vers Amjilosa. Le lendemain, vous vous dirigez vers Sakathum, avant de prendre une longue route jusqu'à Taplejung. De Taplejung, dirigez-vous vers Bhadrapur et prenez un vol panoramique pour Katmandou.

Day 1

Vol de Katmandou à Bhadrapur (45 minutes) et route jusqu'à Taplejung (2 420 mètres).

After breakfast heads towards the domestic airport and catch a flight to Bhadrapur a bustling town located in the southeastern region of the country. Upon reaching Bhadrapur proceed towards Taplejung. The drive takes around seven to eight hours taking you from the plain lands of Terai to the hills of central Nepal.

Duration: 45 minutes flight and 8-10 hours drive

Day 2

Trek de Taplejung à Sinuwa (980 mètres)

Start the trek traversing through the lush hills of the Churia Range. The youngest Hill line is present in the southern part of the country following forested trails and sandy riverbanks. As you progress follow the ridge line. Along the way pass through several traditional villages with unique mud houses, rice fields, fruit trees, and terraced farms. Next, the trail leads you down to the Tamur River from here following uphill trails to reach the village of Sinuwa.


Maximum Altitude: 980m

Duration: 5-6 hours

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Accommodation: Guesthouse

Day 3

Trek de Sinuwa à Chiruwa (1 280 mètres) Durée : 5-6 heures.

Leave Sinuwa following the forested trail. Progressing on the trail, the valley narrows down, and you will be traversing landslide-prone areas. Crossing this area descend to Thiwakhola and then cross over a wooden bridge. Then continue following curved and irregular trails to the tiny village of Chirwa.


Maximum Altitude: 1280m

Duration: 5-6 hours

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 4

Trek de Chiruwa à Sakathum (1 575 mètres) Durée : 5-6 heures.

Start the trek by climbing up a ridge and then following the descending tracks to Simbuwa Khola. From here cross a bridge over the rapids of the river originating from the Yalung Glacier. Then again follow an ascending trail leading to another ridge. Following the ridge, the section reaches the Ghunsa Khola Valley. As you progress reach the convergence of the Tamur River and Ghunsa Khola. A brief walk and eventually you will reach Sakathum village.

Duration: 5-6 hours

Day 5

Trek de Sakathum à Amjilosa (2 310 mètres)

Traversing along the northeast banks of Ghunsa Khola head into the trail. As you trek along the river bank the trail takes you on ascending routes following the forested trails gaining altitude. Progressing on the trail you will come across exposed landscapes with sheer drops. Following the narrow path reach the Tibetan village of Amjilosa.


Maximum Altitude: 2310m

Duration: 5-6 hours

Day 6

Trek d'Amjilosa à Gyable (2 730 mètres)

Leave Amjilosa traversing across the forested trail of rhododendron and bamboo. As you progress on the trail climb higher and witness a waterfall across the hills on the other side of the river. A brief walk from here and you will eventually reach the tiny settlement of Gyable.

Duration: 5-6 hours

Day 7

Trek de Gyable à Gunsa (3 595 mètres) Durée : 4-5 heures.

Today's trek will take you deeper into the mountain country. Start by traversing through large alpine pasture lands, crossing villages, and sections of deep wilderness. Following the trailhead on a downhill path towards the river next cross the river. Eventually, after a brief, walk you will reach Gunsa. A large Tibetan village perched in the heart of the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area. At Gunsa explore the settlement and visit various Gompas of the region. Also, learn about the culture and traditions of the locals.

Duration: 4-5 hours

Day 8

Acclimatation à Ghunsa

Today is your day for acclimatization, as you ascend higher, your body must acclimate to the thinner air at greater elevations. The region has various vantage points perfect for an acclimatization hike. Hike across the river to an altitude of 400 meters above the village and soak in the grand views of the landscape. Next, explore the settlement and start conversations with the people learning about the rich culture and traditions the people.

Head towards any vantage point before dawn and witness mesmerizing views of the sunrise over the Himalayas.



Day 9

Trek de Ghunsa à Kambachen (4 050 mètres)

After breakfast head on the trail, following through stunning pine and rhododendron forests on the southern banks of the Ghunsa Khola. Along the way witness various Chortens and Mani walls. As you gain altitude the forest thins out taking you to high mountain country with exposed terrain. Progress on the trail crossing several slopes and glacier moraines and reach the tiny Tibetan village of Kambachen. From the village witness grand views of the Himalayas.


Maximum Altitude: 4050m

Duration: 5-6 hours

Day 10

Trek de Kambachen à Lhonak (4 780 mètres)

Today's trek is short but gains in altitude so take it slow and have frequent rest. Following the arid trail with patches of shrubs reach the source of the Ghunsa Khola. Next, traverse the northern side of the Kanchenjunga Glacier and then follow the trail on a flat terrain past the Lhonak Glacier. Crossing the glacier reaches the village of Lhonak. The village witnessed grand views of Wedge peak, Mera peak, Nepal peak, and Twins peak.

Day 11

Trek au camp de base du Kanchenjunga (5140 mètres) et retour à Lhonak (4780 mètres).

Today is the most exciting day of your trek as you will be reaching the base camp of the third highest mountain in the world. Leave Lhonak following the trails of the Lhonak Glacier on the northern ridges. Traversing across stony steps and loose surfaces eventually reach Kanchenjunga Base Camp. From the base camp witness grand panoramic views of the grand Mt. Kanchenjunga at 8,586 meters/28,169 feet, Janu Himal at 7,710 meters/25,300 feet, Everest at 8,849 meters/29,032 feet, Makalu at 8,463 meters/26,247 feet, Tharpu Chuli 5,695 meters/18,684 feet, Kabru 7,412 meters/24,318 feet and endless other mountain ranges.

After soaking in the majestic views of the Himalayas retrace your steps back to Lhonak. Upon reaching Lhonak soak in the views of the sunset while relaxing on the porch of your tea house.

Day 12

Trek de Lhonak à Ghunsa (3 595 mètres)

Start the trek following the trails to Kanchenjunga Base Camp. After a brief walk, the trail separates from where you will be following the downward tracks. As you progress the landscapes changes. Following the downhill trails eventually reach the settlement of Ghunsa.


Maximum Altitude: 3595m

Duration: 6-7 hours

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 13

Trek de Ghunsa à Amjilosa (2 498 mètres)

After soaking in the grand views of the sunrise head towards the trail. Leaving Ghunsa after an hour's trek reach the village of Phale. Here visit various monasteries and attend to monks chanting prayers and practicing rituals. Next following the deep wilderness of juniper, pine, and rhododendron woodlands finally reach the tiny village of Amjilosa. After refreshment head out to explore the village.

Duration: 6-7 hours

Day 14

Trekking d'Amjilosa à Sakathum et route vers Taplejung (1 442 mètres).

The trek starts with a brief ascent following the impenetrable jungles. Next, descend a steep section. As you progress on the trail reach the confusion of the Tamur and Ghunsa Khola. A brief walk from here and you will eventually reach Sakathum. From here you will be taking a jeep to Taplejung.


Maximum Altitude: 24898m (Amjilosa)

Duration: 6-7 hours

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 15

Retour de Taplejung à Bhadrapur (208 mètres).

After breakfast head on a long drive towards Bhadrapur. The drive takes you from the central hills to the southern flat lands of the country. Upon reaching Bhadrapur head towards your accommodation. Later celebrate the success of your trek with your team.

Day 16

Vol de retour de Bhadrapur à Katmandou ; Durée : 45 minutes de vol.

Catch an early morning flight from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu. The flight offers you grand views of the landscapes. Upon reaching Kathmandu head towards your accommodation. Later head out to explore the valley. In the evening join in for a farewell dinner program to mark the end of your adventure.

General Booking Conditions

Deposit Policy

For trips to Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan, a photocopy of your passport and a 35% deposit of the total trip cost are required to confirm your booking.

This 35% deposit is non-refundable and is used to secure hotel reservations, transportation, trekking permits, and other advance arrangements.

The remaining balance must be paid upon arrival in Kathmandu, prior to the commencement of the tour.

Booking a Trip

* A 'trip' encompasses any itinerary or activities, including trekking, tours, expeditions, and other adventure programs that you purchase from us.

* The contract between Alpine Club of Himalaya Pvt. Ltd. and the client is established only when we send a confirmation invoice or email to the customer.

* We reserve the right to adjust the prices of trips or tours before the booking is confirmed and the contract is finalized.

Alpine Club of Himalaya   Pvt. Ltd. will not be responsible for any warranties, collateral agreements, prior agreements, or descriptions of services or conditions beyond those explicitly stated in this agreement.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your booking with the Alpine Club of Himalaya, please provide us with written notice. We will confirm the receipt of your cancellation request. The amount you will be charged for canceling will depend on how close to the departure date you make your request:

A non-refundable cancellation fee of 35% of the total tour cost will apply.

•⁠  ⁠45 to 59 days before departure:

40% of the total tour cost will be charged.

•⁠  ⁠30 to 44 days before departure:

•⁠  ⁠15 to 29 days before departure:

70% of the total tour cost will be charged.

•⁠  ⁠7 to 14 days before departure:

85% of the total tour cost will be charged.

•⁠  ⁠Less than 7 days before departure:

100% of the total tour cost will be charged.

Please note, no refunds will be provided if you voluntarily drop out once the trip has begun or if you do not use any pre-paid services such as accommodation, transportation, or meals.

Cancellation by Alpine Club Of Himalaya  Pvt. Ltd.

Alpine Club of Himalaya   Pvt. Ltd. reserves the right to cancel any trip, including those guaranteed to operate, before departure due to circumstances beyond our control, such as natural disasters, flight cancellations, strikes, industrial action, wars, riots, illness, quarantine, government restrictions, adverse weather, or other unforeseen events. In such cases, we will provide a refund of the trip price only. If a guaranteed trip is canceled, you will have the option to either receive a full refund or choose an alternative trip of equal value.

Significant alterations do not include changes to airline carriers, flight schedules, or itineraries, as long as departure and arrival dates remain the same. Changes in cabin category or hotel accommodation will be within the same category.

Please be aware that Alpine Club of Himalaya   Pvt. Ltd. is not liable for any incidental expenses or consequential losses incurred by the client as a result of the booking. This includes costs such as visa fees, vaccinations, non-refundable flights or rail fares, parking fees, loss of earnings, or loss of enjoyment.

Additionally, no refunds will be given if you choose to withdraw from the trip after it has commenced, or if you do not utilize any pre-paid services, including accommodation, transportation, or meals.

Last-Minute Booking

­ 

Last-minute bookings for Nepal trips are accepted up to one day before departure. Full payment is required immediately. Last-minute bookings for Bhutan and Tibet trips are not accepted.

Trip Postponement

­ 

If you need to postpone your trip, notify us in writing with your new departure date. We will transfer your reservations to the new date at no additional cost, unless there are changes in rates for the new date.

Medical Conditions and Special Requirements

If you have any medical conditions or special requirements, please inform Alpine Club of Himalaya   Pvt. Ltd. at the time of booking. This includes physical disabilities or any other conditions that may affect your ability to travel. Failure to disclose such conditions may lead to refusal of travel and potential forfeiture of your deposit or even the full trip cost.

Certain trips may not be suitable for clients based on age, physical conditions (such as mobility issues or pregnancy), or mental health. It is your responsibility to verify suitability before booking. Alpine Club of Himalaya    Pvt. Ltd. will not provide special accommodations unless explicitly agreed upon in writing. We will make every effort to accommodate special requests, including dietary preferences, but such requests are not guaranteed and do not form part of the contractual agreement.

Medical facilities and standards vary by country, and Alpine Club of Himalaya    Pvt. Ltd. makes no representations or warranties regarding the quality of medical treatment available.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is mandatory for all clients. It should cover personal injury, medical expenses, repatriation, helicopter rescue, and other relevant risks. We recommend purchasing insurance from a reputable provider in your country.

Passport and Visa

­ 

Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your return date. Nepalese visas can be obtained at the Nepalese Consulate or on arrival at Kathmandu Airport. Visa costs are the client’s responsibility.

Flight Delays and Changes in Itinerary

­ 

Please be aware that mountain adventures are subject to unpredictable weather conditions. Bad weather in mountainous regions can lead to delays or cancellations of domestic flights. In such cases, Alpine Club of Himalaya Pvt. Ltd. will arrange accommodation (guesthouse) and provide meals (lunch and breakfast) if requested by the client. However, clients are responsible for covering any additional expenses, including those for extra food and accommodation. If you opt for alternative arrangements, such as a helicopter flight to bypass delays, you will be responsible for all associated costs.

Alpine Club of Himalaya Pvt. Ltd. is not liable for missed international flights. We will make every effort to assist with alternative arrangements where possible. Additionally, please note that changes to the itinerary may be necessary due to adverse weather conditions or other factors beyond our control during outdoor activities.

Our tour/trek leader has full authority during the trip. Any unlawful behavior may result in immediate removal from the tour, with no refund.

Publicity

We may use photos and videos of clients for promotional purposes on our website, but we respect privacy and will not disclose personal information.

Personal Belongings

While we take measures to ensure the safety of your belongings, Alpine Club of Himalaya   is not responsible for lost or damaged luggage or personal items during the trip.

Privacy

Missed or Unused Services

Le long du Kanchenjunga Trek, vous pourrez goûter à diverses cuisines ethniques népalaises et tibétaines. La région compte plusieurs maisons de thé le long du sentier, gérées par les habitants locaux et offrant des services de base minimaux.

Cependant, les robinets d'eau potable sont accessibles grâce à des sources d'eau naturelles tout au long du trekking, qui ne sont pas traitées. L'utilisation directe de l'eau n'est donc pas recommandée. Vous pouvez vous procurer de l'eau bouillante ou de l'eau froide filtrée dans n'importe quel relais de thé le long du sentier.

Si vous achetez une tablette de purification de l'eau, des gouttes de chlore ou utilisez les procédures de filtration SODIS (assistées par la lumière du soleil) pour plus d'assurance, pour économiser de l'argent et pour réduire la pollution plastique.
