Magnétisés par le mont Kilimandjaro, les randonneurs négligent souvent le mont Meru, le deuxième plus haut sommet de Tanzanie. Dominant le parc national d'Arusha, le mont Meru constitue à la fois un excellent exercice d'échauffement pour le Kilimandjaro et une expérience de trekking époustouflante en pleine nature.
Le trekking au mont Meru est une véritable aventure. Les pentes de ce volcan endormi (mais actif - la dernière éruption remonte à 1910) offrent des vues panoramiques fascinantes et une faune animée.
Ce volcan est "né" il y a environ 500 000 ans, et sa toute première éruption a pratiquement fait exploser son côté est, créant ainsi son apparence particulière. En outre, le mont Meru possède l'un des cratères les plus profonds - plus de 1 500 mètres !
In the morning you will go to Arusha National Park, and then straight to the trailhead. The ride takes approximately 2.5-3 hours.
At Momella Gate the guides will arrange the entry permit formalities, and you will start trekking to Miriakamba Huts. Wild animals (warthogs, zebras, monkeys, antelopes and, sometimes, elephants) are likely to be seen on the way.
Hot lunch will be served upon arrival to Miriakamba Huts. There you may rest or explore the surroundings.
After the breakfast, the group will start trekking to Saddle Huts. The rainforest zone will end soon, giving place to heath and moorland with large trees. The trail will open amazing panoramic vistas.
Upon reaching the saddle huts, those who are willing and energetic enough may reach the Little Meru Peak, further boosting your acclimatization transition.

Midnight wake-up and the group starts trekking to the Socialist Peak. The hikers should be prepared for a tough and strenuous hike - the legs to Rhino Point and Cobra points are especially precipitous. Be careful!
The group will reach Socialist Peak (4,565 m/14,977 m) by sunrise, where you’ll have true visual euphoria - thrilling panoramic sceneries around and mesmerizing sunrise.
After the summit time, the group will descend to Miriakamba Huts for a hot lunch then after descend to Momella Gate. Our car will be waiting there for your party for transfer to the hotel/Airport.
