En route, make a brief stop at Raksas Tal (Lake Rakshastal), a strikingly beautiful yet mysterious lake that contrasts with the spiritual purity of Lake Manasarovar. According to Hindu mythology, it represents the negative forces or demonic energy in the cosmic balance.

Upon arriving in Darchen, check into your hotel and prepare your luggage for the upcoming Parikrama (circumambulation) around Mount Kailash. As part of the preparation, two travellers will share one duffle bag for easy transport during the trek.

Darchen serves as a vibrant hub for pilgrims and trekkers, where you’ll meet other travellers undertaking this profound spiritual journey. This is the starting point for the Kailash Yatra, offering facilities and guidance to ensure a safe and well-organized experience. Spend the night at your hotel in Darchen, ready to begin the Parikrama the following day.

Upon reaching Derapuk, you’ll be greeted with a stunning close-up view of Mount Kailash, which is a deeply spiritual and awe-inspiring moment for all pilgrims. Spend the night at a basic teahouse or camp in Derapuk, preparing for the next day’s trek.

For those seeking a closer connection with Mount Kailash, embark on an optional day hike to Charan Sparsh, meaning “Touch of the Feet” in Sanskrit. This sacred spot is located at the base of the north face of Mount Kailash and is considered a deeply spiritual site by pilgrims.

The hike begins from Derapuk, following a moderately challenging trail over rugged terrain with mesmerizing views of Mount Kailash throughout the journey. Pilgrims believe that touching the base of the sacred mountain, known as Charan Sparsh, offers immense spiritual blessings and purification of the soul.

This hike is optional and best suited for those who are well-acclimatized and comfortable with the high-altitude environment. For those not participating, the day can be spent resting at Derapuk, enjoying the serene surroundings, and meditating in the presence of Mount Kailash.

Stunning up-close views of the sacred north face of Mount Kailash.

Opportunity for meditation and reflection in the tranquil setting of Derapuk.

Today marks the most challenging and spiritually significant day of the Mount Kailash Parikrama. The journey begins early in the morning from Derapuk, with a steep ascent to the sacred Dolma-La Pass (5,636m), the highest point of the pilgrimage. This part of the trek requires determination and physical stamina due to the high altitude and rugged terrain.

At the top of Dolma-La Pass, you will come across Shiva-sthal, where pilgrims traditionally leave personal items as offerings and pray for forgiveness and liberation. Shortly after, you’ll see Gauri Kund (Lake of Compassion), a sacred site associated with Goddess Parvati, where devotees often stop for prayers and reflection.

After the pass, the trail descends steeply into the Zutulphuk Valley, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and serene energy. The descent can be equally demanding, requiring careful footing. Arrive at Zutulphuk Monastery (4,835m/15,860ft), where you will spend the night in basic teahouse accommodations or camps.

This sacred day is not only a physical test but also a spiritual journey that connects pilgrims deeply to the divine energy of Mount Kailash.

The final leg of the Mount Kailash Parikrama begins with a 3-hour walk from Zutulphuk Monastery to the designated pickup point, where our dedicated driving crew will be waiting to meet you. This trek marks the completion of the sacred circumambulation (Kora) of Mount Kailash, a spiritually fulfilling milestone for every pilgrim.

From the pickup point, you’ll begin the drive back to Saga. The journey offers opportunities to relax and reflect on the incredible experiences of the Yatra while enjoying the scenic landscapes of the Tibetan Plateau. By evening, arrive in Saga, where you’ll check into your hotel and spend the night.

After breakfast, begin your journey back from Saga to Kerung. This scenic drive takes you through the stunning landscapes of the Tibetan Plateau, offering panoramic views of the majestic mountains, pristine valleys, and traditional Tibetan settlements.

The route provides ample opportunities to appreciate the untouched beauty of Tibet, with its vast open plains and snow-capped peaks serving as a breathtaking backdrop. Along the way, reflect on the spiritual significance and incredible experiences of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

By evening, arrive in Kerung, where you’ll check into your hotel for an overnight stay, preparing for the final leg of your journey back to Nepal.

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kathmandu from Kerung, crossing the Tibetan-Nepal border at Rasuwagadhi. The drive to the border takes approximately 1–1.5 hours, where you will complete the necessary customs and immigration formalities to re-enter Nepal.

Once cleared, the scenic drive continues through the Langtang National Park, featuring breathtaking landscapes, lush valleys, cascading waterfalls, and glimpses of the Himalayan foothills. The journey, while lengthy and possibly tiring, provides a final opportunity to immerse yourself in the stunning natural beauty of the region.

You will arrive in Kathmandu by late afternoon, where you can rest and relax at your hotel after the adventurous and spiritually fulfilling journey.

Optional Helicopter Return:

For those seeking a shorter and more comfortable return option, a helicopter transfer is available at an additional cost. The flight offers an aerial view of the Himalayas and surrounding landscapes, reducing the travel time to approximately 45 minutes.

This day is reserved as a contingency day to account for any unexpected delays or disruptions during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, such as weather-related issues, road conditions, or unforeseen circumstances at border crossings.

If everything proceeds as planned and the contingency day is not needed, you can use this day to relax in Kathmandu or engage in optional activities.

Your unforgettable Kailash Mansarovar Yatra comes to an end today. After breakfast, you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu for your return flight home. Reflect on the spiritual journey, cherished moments, and breathtaking landscapes that have left a lasting impact on your soul.

As you bid farewell to Nepal and the sacred Himalayas, carry with you the blessings of Mount Kailash, the serenity of Lake Mansarovar, and memories of the profound connections you made along the way with the people and nature. We wish you a safe flight and hope to welcome you again for another extraordinary adventure in the future.
