Itinerary
No trip to Nepal is complete without a jungle safari. While the mountains of the north have some of the highest and most magnificent peaks in the world, the tropical jungles of the Terai preserve some of the best wildlife habitats in the subcontinent. Some of these rich wildlife habitats are now protected and can be explored by elephant back, four-wheel drive, and dugout canoe or on foot with a licensed guide. Nepal has 16 national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, and conservation areas covering 16% of its total geographical area. Jungle safaris on elephant back or by jeep are offered in Chitwan National Park. Some of these parks are the only ones in Nepal where you can explore the wildlife deep in the heart of the forest, while others are the natural habitat for thousands of animals including snow leopards, gharials, crocodiles, rams, bobcats, the endangered red panda, elks, deer, antelopes, kasturi, monkeys, hundreds of birds (in fact, the Arun Valley has the largest population of birds (650+) and butterflies (800+) in the world) and butterflies.
