The adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., depending on your location in Cusco. From there, we’ll embark on a scenic 3-hour drive to the village of Mollepata (2,900 masl / 9,515 ft), where a delicious breakfast awaits to energize us for the day ahead. From Mollepata, we’ll continue to Soraypampa (3,850 masl / 12,631 ft), the starting point of our trek.
Our experienced guide will ensure your safety and assist with any needs during the hike. If desired, you can rent horses from local villagers to make the ascent easier. As we climb, you’ll encounter diverse flora and fauna native to the region, along with breathtaking views of the Andean landscape.
Upon reaching Humantay Lake (4,200 masl / 13,779 ft), you’ll be greeted by its stunning turquoise waters, nestled at the base of the majestic Humantay Mountain. Here, you’ll have time to relax, take panoramic photographs, and participate in a traditional coca ritual to honor the Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the Apus (sacred mountains).
After soaking in the beauty of the lagoon, we’ll descend back to Soraypampa, where our transport will be waiting to take us to Mollepata. Here, we’ll enjoy a satisfying lunch before heading back to Cusco, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel to conclude this unforgettable journey.
