Wicklow also known as the garden of Ireland is just 1 hrs drive from Dublin. The Dublin Wicklow mountains are renowned for their diversity and splendid scenery and are the perfect surroundings for wonderful walks.

The Wicklow Way starts in Dublin and takes a North to South directions right through the whole County of Wicklow and manages to cover wonderful parts of the County that are made for walkers.

The Trail does not cover very high ground and goes around rather than over most the mountains along it's path. The highest point on the Wicklow Way is White Hill which is just 635m. The length of The Wicklow Way is 128km and can be broken into many stages for the best enjoyment of it.

Day 1

Pickup in Dublin, Maps, briefing and itinerary, Marlay Park – Enniskerry 18Km

Marley Park – Coolakay (Enniskerry) 23.3Km – Height Gain 404m


Starting from the traditional start or finish of the Wickkow way in Marlay Park in South Dublin. The walk will bring you south from the park and out into the Dublin hills. You will ascent gradually up higher onto the hills with a wonderful vista of Dublin city and bay behind you.

Once you reach the ridge of these hills you will pass by Fairy Castle and continue onwards towards Tibradden and out onto the military road. This road was built by the British army in 1800 to try and control this part of Dublin and Wicklow. 

You continue on the trail to the side of Prince Williams seat and eventually you are leaving Dublin and entering Wicklow. From here the scenery starts to look a lot different from the city you left just a few hours earlier. You can see the coastline of Wicklow , the hills and glens of Wicklow start to open in front of you as you continue south.

Coming out at Curtle’s town wood continue on the small roads to your fisrt accommodation for the evening.

Coolakay to Old Bridge (Roundwood) – 16.9Km – Height Gain 502m


After leaving your accommodation with a good breakfast and rest, continue on the trail towards Crone Wood and the Powerscourt waterfall. This is a mix trail today and not as long as yesterdays. You pass along Crone wood onto the side of Powerscourt Waterfall and out into the Dargle Glen. You then cross the glen and take the trail onto the side of Djouce. Continuing on this trail you will come across a monument to JB Malone, the pioneer of this trail and a great place to stop enjoying the vistas across this valley in front of you with Lough Tay just below.

Continue down towards the and onto the next accommodation for the evening.

Old Bridge – Laragh (Glendalough) – 7.2Km – Height Gain 240m


Joining back onto the trail near Roundwood, your walk from Roundwood takes you on quiet country roads and onto Paddock Hill. This is a bird sanctuary for The Irish Red Grouse. This is a beautiful days walking along winding grassy tracks from one valley into the next with wonderful scenic views into Glendalough Valley. As you come closer towards Glendalough you pass through some great forest trails with Scot Pines, Norwegian Spruce and European Larch trees.  This is the valley you finish your day at the 6th century monastic city of Glendalough.

There are numerous loop walks within the Glendalough valley if you fancy some extra walkling. 

Glendalough sits in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains National park and is most famous for it's 6th century monastery of St Kevin.

We will organise transfer back to Dublin for you or you can also take public transport
