Votre Tanja Schultz

Tour program

Day 1

Se rendre à Rome

Travel by train or take a short flight over the Alps and the capital of Italy will greet you. If you arrive early enough, you should familiarize yourself with the "Eternal City" on your own. Or simply relax a little! In any case, your Gebeco tour guide will take you out for a meal together in the evening. (A)
Today we choose the favorite place of our group! After our walk through the alleyways of the old town and the Jewish quarter, the Campo dei Fiori with its flower market is already well ahead of us. However, the lively Piazza Navona with Bernini's masterful Fountain of the Four Rivers is a serious contender shortly afterwards. Via the Piazza della Rotonda, we enter the Pantheon, one of the best-preserved buildings of Roman antiquity with its unique dome. When we finally reach the Piazza del Popolo, near the Spanish Steps, we have to make a decision! (F)
A morning dedicated to the Vatican! For millions of pilgrims, a visit to St. Peter's Basilica is the absolute highlight of a trip to Rome. Perhaps for you too? St. Peter's Square welcomes us with open arms, the rows of colonnades designed by Bernini, and leads us directly to the trapezoidal staircase. We enter one of the largest interior spaces in the world and stand fascinated under the huge dome and catch sight of Michelangelo's famous Pietà in the cathedral. We have no program planned for the rest of the day: You will no doubt want to let what you have experienced sink in over an espresso. Or are you still hungry for adventure? Then we have a tip: visit the nearby Castel Sant'Angelo or marvel at Rome from the water and gain completely new impressions on a cruise on the Tiber. (F)
Today it's all about ancient Rome! We bring the ancient world capital on the seven hills back to life. From Capitoline Square, we have a fantastic view of the Roman Forum and look into the mirror of history on a walk through the political and religious center of Rome. We also don't miss the Imperial Forums. The route then takes us past the Colosseum. It is one of the largest and best-preserved amphitheatres in the world and remains one of the city's landmarks to this day. Along the Arch of Constantine, we finally make our way up to the Palatine Hill, the oldest inhabited part of Rome. Here, at the end of the day, we enjoy the view over the holy city of ancient Rome. (F)
What was life like in a Roman port city? We'll find out on this train trip to Ostia. We stroll around the excavation site and immerse ourselves in the everyday life of the 50,000 ancient inhabitants. We explore temples, thermal baths and theaters and see tenement houses, stores and warehouses. Back in Rome, you will have some time to yourself. Our tip: try Roman ice cream in one of the city's many ice cream parlors. Every variety is an unforgettable treat! See for yourself! Or visit the Baths of Caracalla, in ancient times a leisure pool, but today in summer a performance venue for concerts by world-famous artists. (F)
A few more hours in Rome and the return journey home is imminent. Depending on your departure or departure time, you can say goodbye to Rome in person during a walk. Unless you have decided to spend a few extra days in the city. Then you will have enough time for your own personal experiences. We wish you lots of fun! (F) Timetable, flight schedule, hotel and program changes are expressly reserved. (F=breakfast, A=dinner)
