Tour program

Day 1

Arrivée à Sibiu - Rasinari

Arrival in Sibiu/Hermannstadt. After arrival, we meet the tour guide in the city center to start our journey. We take a guided tour of the Old Town, where we will get to know the sights of Sibiu, a city that was named the European Capital of Culture in 2007 and the European Region of Gastronomy in 2019. During the tour, we will learn about the city's historical significance as well as its cultural and culinary highlights.

In the late afternoon, at 6:00 PM, the group will transfer to Rășinari, a traditional village near Sibiu. There, we will check into our rooms for a two-night stay at a cozy family pension. We will end the day with a delicious dinner at the pension, enjoying the peaceful countryside.

Start point

Sibiu International Airport (SBZ), Șos. Alba Iulia, nr. 73, Sibiu, Sibiu 550000, Romania

Our cycling route begins with a ride through Cisnădie/Heltau to Cisnădioara/Michelsberg, where we will visit the fortified church. These two villages are known for their abundant orchards. Afterward, we continue cycling through Rășinari to Poplaca and Gura Răului, a few typical Romanian shepherd villages at the foot of the Cindrel Mountains. In the late afternoon, we cycle back to Rășinari.

Today the road will lead us to several fortified churches. The first stop is Hosman, followed by Alzen. Along the way, you will often see horse-drawn carts with peasants heading to the fields, as agriculture is the main occupation in this region. The cycling route continues through Barghis and Pelisor to Biertan. One of the most important fortified churches in the region is located in Biertan, which was the bishop's seat for over 300 years. Additionally, this is the place where the annual Saxon meeting takes place. Upon arrival in Biertan, we check into our rooms for the next two nights and enjoy dinner.

Short bike tour from Biertan to Richis. We meet with the artist of the Evangelical Church, who enthusiastically shares more about the region. From here, the cycling route continues to Mălâncrav, where we visit the fortified church with its impressive tower. Then we will cycle to Medias, another city of the Transylvanian Saxons. From Medias we cycle back to Biertan via Dupus. Dinner in the pension.

After breakfast, we transfer to Sighisoara. Following a city tour with a local guide, we get back on our bikes. We will ride the famous hiking route and MTB route Via Transilvanica to Viscri. Viscri became widely known through the Prince Charles Foundation. A visit to the fortified church is worth it, even though the church is relatively small. After a refreshing break, we continue by support vehicle to Bran, where we will check into our rooms for a two-night stay. Dinner at the pension.

Not far from here is the famous Dracula's Castle, which you can visit in the morning. From there, it's a short distance to the Peasant Fortress of Râșnov, a "must-see" site. Afterward, we continue to Schullerau at 1,020 m, where you will have a beautiful view over the Burzenland region. Upon reaching Brașov, we will take a guided city tour, visiting the city's main attractions, such as the Black Church, among others. In the afternoon, we return to Bran. Dinner at the pension.

oday’s route takes us along the Carpathians, first heading to Zărnești. Zărnești is known for its bear observation platforms. Afterward, we continue through Poiana Mărului to Sercaia. From here, a bus transfer will take us to Sibiu. In the late afternoon, we arrive in Sibiu. Dinner and overnight stay in Sibiu, where you will say goodbye to your tour guide.
