Itinerario

A medida que la popularidad de la escalada y el senderismo en Tanzania ha ido creciendo a lo largo de los años, el Kilimanjaro necesitaba naturalmente algunas rutas alternativas y Machame ha alejado sin duda a los escaladores quizá más aventureros de la popular ruta Marangu, que fue la favorita durante muchos años. La ruta Machame está considerada como una de las excursiones más pintorescas de la montaña y ofrece lugares de acampada designados en ubicaciones logísticamente situadas que hacen que los tiempos de caminata y el aumento de altitud sean factibles para todas las edades con buenos niveles de forma física.


El punto de partida en la puerta de Machame está a 1.800 metros y, como en todas las rutas, los escaladores se adentran inmediatamente en tramos de bosque afromontano, que a su vez dan paso poco a poco a una escena del Parque Jurásico, con Senecio Gigante esparciendo el paisaje por las zonas de brezo y, finalmente, desembocando en el desierto alpino. Hay mucha avifauna en las zonas bajas y también posibilidades de ver al mono colobo blanco y negro. La ganancia de altitud es un poco escalonada y rápida en los primeros 2 días, pero una vez alcanzada la zona de la torre de lava se desciende hasta Baranco, logrando el escenario de subida alta y sueño bajo.

Día 1

Inicio de la ascensión al Campo Machame

Te recogeremos a las 8.30 h y saldrás hacia la puerta de Machame. Una vez pagadas las tasas del parque, te adentrarás en la cubierta de la selva tropical natural que rodea la parte baja del Kilimanjaro. Esta parte de la caminata es muy gradual y ofrece magníficas oportunidades para hacer fotos mientras los rayos del sol se filtran a través del denso dosel, con la posibilidad de ver monos colobos blancos y negros.


Te proporcionaremos agua caliente para refrescarte antes de la cena, disfruta del silencio de la montaña mientras la noche desciende sobre el campamento Machame para tu primera noche.


O/n Campamento Machame - Altitud 2980 m (L, D)

Día 2

Del campamento Machame al campamento Shira 1

Tras el desayuno, levanta el campamento y, con las fiambreras de picnic, continúa tu ascenso dejando atrás la exuberancia de la selva tropical. Esta parte de la ruta recorre varias crestas salpicadas de matorrales de tierras bajas que finalmente dan paso a la flora alpina más resistente de la meseta abierta.


El recorrido te llevará entre 5 y 6 horas y media, incluyendo la comida campestre. A un lado tienes la suave silueta del Kilimanjaro, que se eleva sobre ti, y a lo lejos se alza el monte Meru.


O/n Campamento Shira - Altitud 3840mts (B, L, D)

Día 3

Del campamento Shira 1 al campamento Baranco

Después de desayunar, comienza un ascenso gradual abriéndote paso a través del matorral alpino bajo. La observación de aves en estas laderas abiertas puede ser gratificante, con varios tipos diferentes de aves rapaces rastreando los matorrales en busca de pequeños mamíferos. El paisaje cambiará a campos de morrena de color rojo óxido mientras continúas hacia la Torre de Lava 4630mts, para descender finalmente al Campamento de Baranco. Se almorzará en ruta. Este es un buen día para la aclimatación ya que alcanzas una altitud mayor que la de Baranco, el tiempo de marcha es de 5 - 7 h de media.

Día 4

Del campamento Baranco al campamento Karanga

Tras el desayuno, comienza la desalentadora ascensión por la pared de Baranco, que parece mucho peor de lo que es, y continúa con paso firme hasta el campamento de Karanga. Disfruta de un almuerzo caliente a la llegada y relájate o sal a dar un paseo por la zona; tu guía te aconsejará.

Día 5

Del campamento de Karanga al campamento de Barafu

Esta mañana rodearás la cara sur de la montaña atravesando el desierto alpino y los campos de morrena. Llegarás al campamento de Barafu en 4,5 h - 6 h. Relájate y disfruta de las vistas. Descansa y trata de dormir un poco, te despertarán hacia medianoche para tu desafío final.

Día 6

Del campamento de Barafu a la cima, luego bajamos al campamento de Mweka

Prepárate y comienza el ascenso al pico más alto de África (el Pico Uhuru), situado a 5895 m de altitud. Ten la cámara preparada para cuando el sol te guiñe un ojo soñoliento. Después de haber hecho la danza de la victoria en la cumbre. Comienza el descenso hacia el Campo de Barafu para desayunar y descansar un poco. Desciende hacia el Campamento del Milenio atravesando pastos y matorrales de tierras bajas. Haz una pausa para almorzar y tomar un refresco y sigue bajando hasta el campamento de Mweka o, dependiendo del ritmo de descenso y de cómo se sientan las piernas, hasta el Campamento del Milenio. Día 7

Del campamento de Mweka a Moshi

Después de desayunar, baja de nuevo al bosque, un hermoso paseo que ofrece buenas oportunidades para observar aves, hay algunos buenos miradores en ruta hacia el valle de abajo. 1. BOOKING AND PAYMENT

2.5 Meals are provided three times per day; breakfast, lunch and dinner, often including a packed

Lunch or picnic for one of these.

2.6 Accommodation varies depending on location and price plan. Camping, tented camps,

Bandas, guest houses, tented accommodation and hotels are regarded as suitable accommodation.

2.7 Adventure Makers Tanzania reserves the right to substitute accommodation for those indicated in

3. DESCRIPTIONS AND SERVICE

4. COMPLAINTS

4.1 If you are unhappy with any service or facility provided, you must immediately inform your

5. CANCELLATION & REFUNDS

5.2 Cancellation by Adventure Makers Tanzania:

d) A full refund.

5.2.3 Adventure Makers Tanzania accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from cancellations.

8. MEDICAL & TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

8.1 You are responsible for all requirements concerning medical vaccinations and certificates,
