La revista National Geographic Adventure Magazine calificó la ruta del Salkantay como una de las 25 mejores rutas del mundo.

El monte Salkantay (o Nevado Salkantay / Salcantay) es una de las montañas más emblemáticas de la región de Cuzco y la más alta de la cordillera de Vilcabamba. Los excursionistas de la ruta del Salkantay pasan un día acercándose a la montaña desde el sur y otro día muy cerca de ella mientras escalan el paso del Salkantay, que a 4.600 m ofrece unas vistas impresionantes del valle.

El trekking al Salkantay de 4 días y 3 noches es una gran aventura que te permitirá apreciar las montañas andinas y su exuberante verdor (Bosque Nublado), arroyos, ríos y aguas termales que te ayudarán a relajar el cuerpo tras la agotadora caminata física. También podrás sentir el cambio de temperatura a lo largo de los senderos de montaña del recorrido por Salkantay. También podrás disfrutar de un poco de nieve en uno de los puntos más altos del camino, a 4.630 mts/15, 228 pies sobre el nivel del mar. Finalmente, el último día (el quinto) disfrutarás de la Gran Visita a la Ciudad de Machu Picchu.

Día 1

Cusco - Mollepata - Challacancha - Laguna Humantay - Soraypampa

Te recogemos en tu hotel Entre las 4:30 am y las 5:00 am para conducir durante unas 2 horas hasta Mollepata donde pararemos para desayunar después seguiremos conduciendo hasta challacancha donde empezaremos el senderismo y tan pronto como estemos en challacancha el cocinero y el jinete empaquetarán todo el equipo de acampada y las cosas para cocinar y empezaremos el senderismo. los primeros 25 minutos serán un poco cuesta arriba para llegar al Canal de Agua donde tendremos un bonito lugar con vistas panorámicas de hermosos nevados (Humantay; 4120m/13500ft y Salkantay; 6271m/20575ft) - ¡sólo el comienzo! Comenzaremos nuestra caminata por el Salkantay hacia Soraypampa, nuestro primer lugar de acampada del Salkantay Trek (3800 m/11750 pies; el campamento más alto y frío del viaje), estaremos muy cerca del segundo nevado más alto del Salkantay. Después de almorzar, iremos al lago Humantay y exploraremos sus alrededores; luego bajaremos hasta nuestro mejor campamento en Soraypampa y dormiremos en el SKY LODGE DOME.

Día 2

Soraypampa - Paso de Salkantay - Huaracmachay - Chaullay

Después de desayunar en el Salkantay Trek, empezamos a caminar sobre las 5.30 h, porque este día será el más largo: las primeras 4 horas son cuesta arriba para llegar al punto más alto del Salkantay Trek (4.650 m), situado a medio camino entre 2 enormes montañas: el Salkantay a la derecha y el Tucarhuay a la izquierda. Desde el paso, las vistas de las 2 montañas nevadas son increíbles. Existe la posibilidad de que nieve aquí. Tras un descanso, continuaremos nuestra caminata (cuesta abajo) a través de un espectacular bosque nuboso hacia Huayracpunku, donde almorzaremos. Caminaremos de nuevo después del almuerzo en dirección al inicio de la selva hasta llegar a nuestro segundo lugar de acampada de la caminata Salkantay de Chaullay (3000m/9800ft). Dormimos en SKY LODGE DOME

Día 3

Chaullay - Lluscamayo - Loreta Playa Sahuayaco Coffe Experience

Después del desayuno, a las 6.30 am, empezamos a caminar por la selva alta cruzando el río Lluskamayo y una variedad de pequeños arroyos para llegar a Loreta Playa Sahuayaco caminando unas 6 horas. Hoy pasaremos por valles y tendremos maravillosas vistas de cascadas, frutas tropicales y plantas, y tan pronto como estemos en Loreta Playa Sahuayaco almorzaremos e iremos a explorar la plantación de café y tendremos una maravillosa experiencia cafetera, y después bajaremos a las aguas termales de Cocalmayo (Opcional con coste extra y esto lo organizará tu guía una vez que estés allí) Luego volveremos a dormir al SKY LODGE DOME en Loreta Playa Sahuayaco3er día: Distancia total: 16 km (aprox.)

Día 4

Loreta Playa Sahuayaco - Llactapata - Hidroeléctrica - Aguas Calientes

Desayunaremos a las 6:00 de la mañana y saldremos de nuestro lugar de acampada en Loreta Playa Sahuayaco. Caminaremos por un Camino Inca original hasta el sitio de Llactapata, donde tendrás la oportunidad de ver Machupicchu a lo lejos (uno de los lugares más hermosos para ver Machupicchu) Luego seguiremos caminando, pasando por una variedad de plantaciones de cultivos, coca, plátano, etc. hasta llegar a la estación hidroeléctrica. Y después de comer, seguimos caminando unas dos horas y media por la carretera del tren hasta llegar al pueblo de Aguas Calientes, donde pasaremos la noche en un hotel. En Aguas Calientes, puedes aprovechar las aguas termales del pueblo (entrada 10 soles) un verdadero placer después de terminar la Caminata al Salkantay

4º DÍA: Distancia total: 12 km (aprox.)

Día 5

Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes - Ollantaytambo - Cusco

La caminata a Salkantay es un día importante, nos levantamos temprano sobre las 4 de la mañana para luego a las 4:30 desayunar y salir a caminar hasta Machupicchu que tarda una hora y media hasta Machu Picchu pero hay otra opción para coger el primer autobús que sale a las 5:30 de la mañana hacia Machupicchu (25 minutos de duración) para apreciar la magnífica ciudad mientras sale el sol. Vuestro Guía os dará una visita a pie (aproximadamente 2 horas) y después podréis explorar la misteriosa ciudad por vosotros mismos. Si aún te quedan fuerzas, también puedes subir al Huaynapicchu (2720 m). Se tarda 45 minutos en llegar a la cima (el Huaynapicchu debe reservarse con antelación) Y después de disfrutar de Machu Picchu, tienes que bajar a Aguas Calientes para coger el tren de vuelta a Ollantaytambo y luego el autobús de regreso a Cuzco.

Cancellation Policy

1. Contract with "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU"

The terms and conditions set forth below (the “Terms”) constitute the entire understanding and agreement between "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU,” “we,” or “our”) and the customer (the “Customer” or “you”) with respect to any and all bookings, trips, or transactions made with " QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU". As used in the Terms, "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU", “we” and “our” include "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" owners, directors, officers, employees, representatives, agents, and affiliates.

2. Reservations

To reserve a space on any trip, each Customer must submit:

  • A completed personal information of all traveler’s Full name, as in your passport
  • Passport number, nationality, Age, sex.
  • Confirm if you are an Adult or Student, Students apply only for those under 24 years old “with a University student Card”
  • Confirm trip and departure date.
  • Inform us about meals remarks “vegetarian, allergies, etc” 
  • A deposit of 40% per person (paid 61 or more days in advance of the tour).
  • The balance of the Trip Cost (the “Balance”) is due 30 days prior to departure 

3. Single Supplement

All accommodations (hotels, boats, tents, etc…) are based on double occupancy. We will try to find roommates for single travelers willing to share accommodations. If this is not feasible or if you prefer single accommodations, you will be assessed the Single Supplement charge listed for the itinerary.

4. Cancellation by Customer

  • 15-45 days prior to departure, the fee is 40% of the Trip Cost
  • If made 14 days or less prior to departure, the cancellation fee is 100% of the Trip Cost.
  • No partial refunds will be given for unused hotel rooms, meals, sightseeing trips, or trekking arrangements for any reason whatsoever. The Trip Cost is quoted as a package and credits are not given for services not used. Some Trips like the Inca trail to Machu Picchu apply a different cancellation schedule. In this case, the vessel’s cancellation policy is in addition to the "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" cancellation policy.

5. Cancellation by "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU"

"QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" reserves the right to cancel any trip due to insufficient sign-up (not meeting the 2-person minimum), which makes the trip economically unfeasible to operate. If this happens, a full refund of the Trip Cost is given. However, "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" is not responsible for additional expenses incurred by travellers preparing for the trip (i.e., non-refundable “Advance Purchase” air tickets, equipment, medical expenses, etc.).

6. Prices, Surcharges, and Validity

As we publish our prices in advance, "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" may occasionally be faced with significant cost increases due to factors over which we have no control. Consequently, we reserve the right to charge the Customer a surcharge due to unfavorable exchange rates, increases in airfares or other transport costs, taxes, or if government action should require us to do so. Surcharges will be calculated according to the full extra cost, compared to the original costs and exchange rates. Likewise, if our costs decrease, we will pass on the savings to the Customer.

7. Airlines

"QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" is not responsible for any acts or failures to act of any airline. We may use airlines different than the one(s) mentioned in our advertisements, and "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" is not able to guarantee the type of aircraft to be used by any airline. In addition, "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" is not responsible for losses due to canceled flights, or changed flight itineraries or seat assignments. The Customer may not cancel the contract without penalty due to a change of airline, aircraft type, route, or destination. The responsibility of the airlines is limited to the carriage of passengers and baggage in accordance with the airline’s terms and conditions of service.

8. Delays

Any costs, whether direct or incidental, incurred by the Customer as the result of delays caused by bad weather, trail conditions, river levels, road conditions, transportation delays, sickness, government intervention or other contingencies which are beyond the control of QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU will not be reimbursed.

9. Changes by "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU"

Reasonable changes in the itinerary may be made where deemed advisable by "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" for the comfort and well-being of the Customers because of unforeseen circumstances or because of circumstances beyond the control of "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU". If any such change is made prior to the time the 50% deposit is paid, the Customer will be told of the change at the time of booking. If the change is made thereafter, "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" will inform the Customer as soon as is reasonably possible. Cancellations by the Customer made as a result of any such change shall be subject to the provisions of Paragraph 5, above. "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" shall not be liable for any damages arising from or related to any such change and the Customer waives the right to assert a claim for such damages against "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU".

10. Changes by the Customer

Any changes made by the Customer between 60 and 30 days before departure will be charged a $30 administrative fee per change. Any changes made between 29 and 15 days will be charged a $50 administrative fee per change. No changes may be made by the Customer within 14 days of departure. This includes, without limitation, booking additional accommodations, transfers or excursions. "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" is not responsible for additional expenses incurred by the Customer as a result of such changes, including but not limited to non-refundable “Advance Purchase” "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU".

11. Authority on Tour

The Customer must at all times comply with the laws and respect the social norms of the country being visited as well as with all government regulations pertaining to customs, drugs, and foreign exchange. At all times the decision of the "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" tour leader or representative is final on all matters that may threaten the safety, or interfere with the wellbeing, of the group or individual Customers. Should the Customer fail to comply with this section, or should the Customer interfere with the well-being of the group or individual Customers, "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" tour leader or representative may order the Customer to leave the tour without recourse to any refund.

12. Medical Fitness & Health

It is vital that Customers with medical problems make them known to us at the time of registration. The trip leader has the right to disqualify anyone at any time during the trip if the trip leader believes that the Customer’s continued participation will jeopardize the health or well-being of the Customer involved or the group. Refunds are not given under such circumstances. In the event a Customer is injured or becomes ill, "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" will attempt to secure the best possible medical attention available. However, "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" assumes no liability for or regarding the provision of medical care or its cost.

13. Baggage

"QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" assumes no liability for loss or damage to baggage in transit to and from a "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" trip or while on a "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" trip.

14. Travel Insurance

"QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" highly recommends that the Customer obtain personal travel insurance, including baggage and cancellation insurance.

- Travel Insurance is a cost-effective way to protect yourself and your equipment in the event of problems due to – Canceled Trips, Delays, Medical Problems, Baggage Loss or Damage.

- Travel insurance may be purchased through traditional insurers or online insurers.

15. Travel Documents

The Customer must obtain and have possession of a valid passport (PASSPORT MUST BE VALID AT LEAST 185 DAYS FROM DEPARTURE DATE), all visas, permits and certificates, and vaccination certificates, required for the entire tour. The Customer accepts responsibility for obtaining these documents and any other necessary documents. Information or advice given by "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" on visas, vaccinations, climate, clothing, baggage, special equipment, etc., is given in good faith but without responsibility on the part of "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" and the Customer expressly waives any claim that "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" is liable for damages arising from such information or advice.

16. Claims and Complaints

If a Customer has a claim or complaint against "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU", the Customer must first inform "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" of the claim or complaint in writing within five days after the end of the trip. Failure to comply with this requirement waives the Customer’s right to assert any such claim or complaint against "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU".

17. Binding Arbitration

I agree that any dispute concerning, relating, or referring to this contract, the website, or any other literature or materials concerning my "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" trip, or the trip itself shall be resolved exclusively by Peruvian binding arbitration.

18. Limitation of Remedies

The Customer agrees that the sole remedy for any default by "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" arising under the Terms shall be the return of the paid Trip Cost. To the maximum extent permitted under applicable law, "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" will not be liable for any indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages of any kind (including for personal injury) regardless of the form of the action, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, even if "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" has been advised of the possibility of such damages, and the Customer expressly waives any right it may have to recover such damages.

19. Severability

I understand and agree that in the event that one or more of the provisions of the Terms, for any reason, is held to be invalid or unenforceable in any respect, such invalidity or unenforceability shall not affect any other provision hereof, and the Terms shall be construed as if such invalid or unenforceable provision had never been contained herein.

20. Entire Agreement

The Terms contain the entire understanding between the Customer and "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" in connection with the subject matter of the Terms and it supersedes and replaces all prior negotiations, statements, and representations concerning the subject matter of the Terms except as expressly contained in the Terms.

21. Amendment

The Terms may not be amended, altered or modified, except by a written amendment executed by the Customer and "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU".

22. Construction

It is the intent of the Customer and "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" that no part of the Terms be construed against any party because of the identity of the drafter.

23. Medical Insurance

Every Customer must be covered by travel-related personal medical insurance. The insurance must cover personal accident, medical expenses, air ambulance, loss of effects, repatriation costs and all other expenses which might arise as a result of loss, damage, or injury occurring to the Customer. The Customer agrees to obtain and/or verify that he/she has sufficient travel-related personal medical insurance coverage for the trip. Baggage and cancellation insurance are also highly recommended.

I agree to obtain and/or verify that I have the above travel-related personal medical insurance which meets "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" minimum requirements and to provide proof of said insurance to "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU".

24. RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF ALL RISKS

I, the Customer acknowledge that I have voluntarily applied to participate on the trip designated on this application and that I have read the description of the trip as it appears in the trip itinerary. I am voluntarily participating in this trip with knowledge of the hazards involved.

25. ASSUMPTION OF RISK

"QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" does not own or operate any entity that provides goods or services for your trip including, without limitation, other lodging facilities, airlines, vessels, buses, or other transportation companies, providers, or organizers of optional excursions, or food service or entertainment providers other than "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU". "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" gives notice that it acts independently of, and is not responsible for, the owners, contractors, and suppliers providing means of transportation and/or all other related travel services and assumes no responsibility for expense, injury, loss or damage to person or property resulting from: acts of God, detention, annoyance, delays, quarantine, strikes, thefts, pilferage, force majeure (an event or effect that cannot be reasonably anticipated or controlled), failure of any means of conveyance to arrive or depart as scheduled, civil disturbances, terrorism, government and national park restrictions changes, or regulations, discrepancies or changes in transit or hotel services over which it has no control, animals, marine life or vegetation of any sort, dangers incident to recreational activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, sailing, canoeing, rafting, hiking, bicycling, rock climbing, etc., sanitation problems, food poisoning, lack of access to or quality of medical care, difficulty in evacuation in case of a medical or other emergency, or for any other cause beyond the direct control of "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU". The Customer is voluntarily participating in the trip with the knowledge that travels to foreign countries and/or remote areas visited by this trip involves numerous risks and dangers which the Customer accepts, including, but not limited to: the forces of nature; civil unrest; terrorism; the condition of roads, trails, hotels, vehicles, boats or other means of conveyance which are not operated or maintained to standards common in the United States; high altitude; accident or illness without access to means of rapid evacuation or availability of medical supplies; the adequacy of medical attention once provided; physical exertion for which the Customer is not prepared; consumption of alcoholic beverages; or negligence (but not the willful or fraudulent conduct) on the part of "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" or those entities with whom "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" to provide services to the Customer. The Customer acknowledges that the enjoyment and excitement of adventure travel is derived in part from the inherent risks incurred by travel and activity beyond the accepted safety of life at home or work and that these inherent risks contribute to such enjoyment and excitement and are a reason for the Customer’s voluntary participation.

I hereby agree to the above and to be responsible for my own welfare, and accept any and all risks of delay, unanticipated events, illness, injury, emotional trauma or death.

26. RELEASE

I acknowledge that the cost of all "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" trips have been based upon Trip Customers executing this Release of Liability and Assumption of All Risks. Therefore, as lawful consideration for being permitted to participate in such adventure travel activities, I hereby RELEASE AND DISCHARGE FOREVER "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL LIABILITY ARISING FROM MY PARTICIPATION IN THE TRIP. I agree this release shall be legally binding upon myself, all minors under the age of 18 traveling with me, all members of my family, my and their heirs, successors, assigns, and legal representatives, it being my intention to fully assume all the risks of travel associated with this trip and to release "QUECHUAS EXPEDITIONS PERU" of and from any and all liabilities to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Transporte

Transporte: Todo tu transporte está incluido en este trekking. Te recogerán directamente en tu hotel y te llevarán al inicio de la ruta, al comienzo del sendero. Después, los últimos días de la ruta, te subirán al tren de expedición que sale esa tarde. Si lo prefieres, puedes cambiar el tren que sale de Aguas Calientes al tren Vistadome por 60 $ por persona. Cuando llegues a la estación de tren, te llevaremos de vuelta a tu hotel en Cuzco.

El seguro no está incluido. Se requiere seguro de viaje para este tour. Por favor, asegúrese de tener la cobertura adecuada.

Alquileres: Todos los senderistas necesitan un saco de dormir cuando acampan. Los bastones (con puntas de goma) son opcionales, pero se recomiendan. Si no quieres traer nada de lo anterior, se pueden alquilar:

Saco de dormir (estilo momia de plumas de ganso): $25

Huayna Picchu: Huayna Picchu es la montaña que se alza junto a Machu Picchu. Hay 45 minutos de caminata hasta la cima. El descenso es bastante empinado, si tienes miedo a las alturas. Se hace después de la visita a Machu Picchu. El coste es de 80 $ por persona. Hay que organizarlo con al menos dos meses de antelación (consulta la disponibilidad), debido a su popularidad. Como vas de excursión por el Camino Salkantay, experimentarás una vista similar desde el sitio de la Postal Por favor, comprende que el tiempo está fuera de nuestro control.

Mochilas de día: Expediciones Quechuas no proporciona mochilas. Debes traer las tuyas propias. Asegúrate de no ser nada demasiado grande, ya que no querrás que pese demasiado mientras estés de Excursión. Además, Machu Picchu no te permitirá traer una mochila de más de 25L, así que si tienes una mochila grande tendrás que guardarla antes de tu excursión (tenemos un almacén gratuito). Sólo necesitarás lo esencial durante el trekking: agua, tentempié, cámara, gorro para el sol, capa de abrigo, capas para la lluvia, insecticida, crema solar y un botiquín personal.

Linternas frontales: Se recomienda encarecidamente llevar una linterna frontal para la acampada nocturna.

Vuelos: Volar a Cuzco puede ser complicado. A menudo se producen retrasos y no es raro que se cancelen vuelos. Asegúrate de llegar a la ciudad al menos dos días antes de la fecha de inicio de la ruta. LAN Perú es la más fiable de las compañías aéreas. SKY y JETSMART Airlines también son compañías aceptables. No regresarás del trekking hasta alrededor de las 20 h del último día, así que asegúrate de que tu vuelo no sea hasta el día siguiente, cuando salgas de Cuzco.

Comidas: Desayuno el Día 1 y Almuerzo el Día 5

La Entrada a Salkantay y al Lago Humantay es de 20 soles y la Entrada a las Aguas Termales de Colcalmayo 10 soles (Un Transporte Extra de Ida y Vuelta a las Aguas Termales de Cocalmayo, puedes organizarlo con tu Guía)

Propinas: Las propinas son siempre apreciadas y deben basarse completamente en tu satisfacción. Aunque puede que no sea habitual para ti, tiene una importancia considerable para las personas que cuidarán de ti durante tus viajes.

Seguro de viaje: No es obligatorio, pero siempre es recomendable. Para los que vivís a nivel del mar, aterrizar en Cuzco os llevará un periodo de adaptación. La mayoría de la gente necesita uno o dos días para adaptarse. En caso de que te cueste adaptarte a la altitud, se sugiere tener una protección por pérdida de excursiones.

Comidas

- Cocinero profesional: todas nuestras verduras frescas se lavan en agua yodada antes de servirlas. Comida vegetariana (vegana) a petición, ¡sin coste adicional! Se pueden satisfacer todas las necesidades dietéticas de veganos, lactoalérgicos y aversiones en general, siempre que se avise con antelación al reservar el viaje.

Comida: Los chefs de Quechuas Expeditions preparan comidas deliciosas que han entusiasmado a muchos excursionistas anteriores. Respetamos todas las restricciones alimentarias. Asegúrate de recordar a tu guía cualquier restricción alimentaria al comienzo de la excursión. La comida suele servirse al estilo familiar. Disfrutarás de desayuno, comida y cena todos los días de la ruta, junto con una hora feliz de té y aperitivos. También se te proporcionará un tentempié cada mañana, para que lo disfrutes a lo largo de la caminata. Tu última comida con el cocinero será después del desayuno del cuarto día. El almuerzo del último día no está incluido.

Esta excursión ofrece opciones de comida jainista, vegetariana, vegana, halal y kosher bajo petición. Sólo tienes que indicar a Quechuas Expeditions la opción de comida que prefieres.
