Start point

Via Giulio Petroni 15, 70124 Bari Bari, Italy

14:00 - 23:55

Breakfast. At 09.00, meeting with a local guide and guided tour of Bari, capital of the region Puglia. Panoramic tour between the Norman-Swabian castle, the port, the Margherita and Petruzzelli theatres. Walk through the streets of Bari Vecchia, the old town notable for its ancient medieval walls, the Basilica of San Nicola and the narrow streets where you can admire the old ladies using their hands to make the orecchiette, homemade fresh pasta typical of the region. Then, continue to Trani, a beautiful seaside town, famous for its wonderful Cathedral overlooking the Adriatic and the port area, rich in restaurants and shops selling crafts and typical products. Return to Bari and overnight.

Breakfast. Departure to Polignano a Mare, the town famous for being the birthplace of the most famous Italian singer of all time, Domenico Modugno. This charming town will surprise you with its old town, perched on the walls that frame a splendid beach. Continue to Ostuni, the city of white houses, a beautiful tourist centre that stands out for its Cathedral, a masterpiece in a mix of Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque styles. Walk through the picturesque streets of the historic centre and lunch on your own. Then continue to Lecce, check in and overnight.

Breakfast. In the morning, guided tour of Lecce and time to explore this city, also known as the Baroque capital of southern Italy; a cultural and historical centre of almost 100,000 inhabitants that hides in its old town buildings of rare beauty, built over the centuries with the local Leccese stone: the Cathedral, the Basilica of Santa Croce, the Celestini Palace, the Roman Theatre, the elegant and central Piazza San Oronzo with the characteristic column and the entrance gates of the old city. Then, departure to Gallipoli, an ancient fishing village located on an island that in the 17th century was joined to the mainland by a bridge, still used today. Visit of the beautiful and picturesque historic centre. Lunch on your own. Then, arrival in Otranto, the easternmost municipality of the entire Italian peninsula and a great Norman centre in ancient times. A walled city, it grew up around the castle and the Cathedral and today it is an important tourist centre thanks to its location on the Adriatic, its beaches and the elegant Promenade of the Heroes. Visit and then return to Lecce and overnight in hotel.

Breakfast. Departure for one of the most picturesque places in the world, known for its characteristic houses: Alberobello. In the 17th century, the peasants of the area, in order to avoid paying taxes to the Kingdom of Naples on their houses, began to build with dry stone, which, according to the law of the time, could not be considered a real place to live. The local low buildings with black roofs have survived until today and many have been converted into luxury homes, craft shops or hotels. Lunch on your own. Then, departure for the Basilicata region, to Matera. The city of the “Sassi” is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its old quarter, which is an example of prehistoric urbanization. Today the ancient caves have been reused for daily life and tourism reasons and make up a truly unique landscape that is worth experiencing. Visit and accommodation in hotel.

Breakfast. After a final morning on your own in Matera, private transfer to Bari and end of services.
