Itinerario
Bavarian Salzburg alpine pasture trail - “From the Lake Königssee to the alpine pasture of mount Hochkönig”
Idyllic, mystic and singular the blue-green lake Königssee is imbedded into grand mountain scenery. The mountains are very high, but there are beautiful crosses to the next valleys. To see the sun rising over the steep rocks of the Stony Sea is really worth the effort. Alpine pastures are on the edges of the mountains and you will walk from mountain hut to mountain hut with exciting views to the alps and glaciers.
Some of you may know the city of Berchtesgaden where you find the Eagles nest and also a very interesting information centre about the time and history of “Obersalzberg – Hitlers mountain resort”.
Characteristic: Demanding walking days with tours of 3 to 6 hours to walk. You are crossing from valley to valley by using former salt trail or walking over beautiful alpine pastures. Your trails are running close to the edge of the mountain walls and you will have spectacular views. You will walk in low alpine area and a good fitness and equipment is expected.
There are public busses (going around the mountains) and you may use them to go to the next hotel (rainy days)

Día 2
Lago Königssee - Traslado parque nacional de Berchtesgaden - Desfiladero de Seisenberg - Weißbach
Transfer to the entrance of the national park of Berchtesgaden where the tour starts. A beautiful trail leads you up to the former miners hut and on over an alpine pasture down to the Saalach valley. In between, you will pass the impressing Seisenberg gorge.
• 18,5 km to walk and appr. 5,5 hours walking time, + 550 meters - 500 meters

Weißenbach/Saalfelden - Traslado Hinterthal - pastos alpinos en las Montañas de la Hierba - Dienten
Transfer to the edge of the Grass Mountain where you will start your tour up to the alpine pastures. Today you have a possibility the walk up a little summit with a wonderful view to the Alps and glaciers and maybe to the lake “Zellersee”. Passing mountain huts you will walk downwards to the mountain village of Dienten or Hintermoos.

Dienten - Mühlbach - De refugio en refugio al hotel de montaña
One of the most beautiful alpine pasture hiking tours in Austria. Walking along the steep walls of the Hochkönig you will trek from mountain hut to mountain hut over alpine pastures. A pastoral idyll as if freshly painted for a picture book. Downwards to the hotel by bus or you walk.
• 14,5 - 18,5 km to walk and appr. 5,5 hours walking time, + 640 meters - 210 meters

Take the bus down to the valley or just relax in the hotel. With the local guest card you may use e.g. the bus for free!
Día 6
Mühlbach - Arthurhaus - Werfen - Tren a Golling
In the morning, you will take the bus upwards to Arthurhaus, where you start with your walking tour downwards to the Salzach valley. Gently down along the old miners path to the Salzach valley, where you will see the fantastic fortress of “Hohenwerfen”. It’ s up to you to walk up the castle hill and see the bird-of-prey flight demonstrations, the collection of weapons, … Afterwards by train to Golling.
• 13,5 km to walk and appr. 4,5 hours walking time, + 120 meters - 950 meters
Día 7
Golling - Monte Jenner - Teleférico al lago Königssee - De Salzburgo a Baviera
You will walk up to the peak of the Jenner with panoramic view of the whole tour. A beautiful trail leads you through the former arch bishop hunting valley to the “wall”. Steep stone walls left, right and in front of you. You may not see the trail at first but it’s going up and up to the alpine pastures and to the frontier of Austria and Germany. Again beautiful scenery and a very comfortable ride down into the valley by the cable car. When you look right, who will see the “eagles nest”.
