Itinerario
Acompáñanos en nuestro viaje por tierra en una fascinante ruta hacia el Ártico, a lo largo de parajes vírgenes y antiguos corredores de vida salvaje, y rutas comerciales tradicionales de los comerciantes de las Primeras Naciones, utilizadas más tarde por los buscadores de oro de la Fiebre del Klondike y los patrulleros de la NWMP.
La ruta ofrece una de las mayores diversidades geográficas del país; las Montañas Tombstone, en el Yukón central, están entre las cordilleras más jóvenes de Norteamérica, mientras que las bajas y onduladas Ogilvie, con sus espinas desnudas, no fueron glaciadas durante la última Edad de Hielo, por lo que se cuentan entre las más antiguas. Al norte de las Montañas Ogilvie, el paisaje se aplana gradualmente hasta convertirse en tundra baja y, justo después de cruzar el Círculo Polar Ártico, aparecen a la vista las Montañas Richardson, la prolongación más septentrional de las Montañas Rocosas.
Desde allí, la carretera iniciará su descenso hacia el impresionante delta del río Mackenzie, el duodécimo más grande del mundo, para llegar a Inuvik, conocido como el Lugar del Hombre. El viaje termina con una emocionante excursión al pueblo inuvialuit de Tuktoyaktuk, en la costa ártica, accesible por una carretera de grava que bordea el río Mackenzie y el océano Ártico, donde tendremos la oportunidad de "mojar los dedos" en el océano Ártico.

LLEGAR A WHITEHORSE

WHITEHORSE - DAWSON CITY
Antes de finales de la década de 1950, la única forma de viajar a Dawson City en verano era en un majestuoso barco de ruedas de paletas como el SS Klondike. Hoy recorreremos los 550 km de distancia en unas pocas horas. Nuestra ruta de hoy nos lleva por el corazón del interior del Yukón, más o menos a lo largo del valle del río Yukón. Pararemos a tomar un café por la mañana en Braeburn Lodge, famoso por sus enormes bollos de canela, y luego continuaremos hacia el norte por la autopista Klondike pasando por varios pequeños pueblos y asentamientos nativos, como Carmacks, Pelly Crossing y Stewart Crossing. Día 3
CIUDAD DE DAWSON
Después del desayuno, descubriremos Dawson City. El programa incluye una visita a las cabañas de Jack London y Robert Service y al museo. Lo más destacado es el viaje por los arroyos Bonanza y Eldorado, donde visitaremos la histórica draga nº 4 y una mina de oro en activo. Tendrás la oportunidad de probar suerte buscando oro en el Klondike. Por la tarde subiremos por la carretera de Midnight Dome para disfrutar de unas vistas fantásticas de Dawson City y el río Yukón. Tras una auténtica cena norteña, tendrás tiempo para explorar la ciudad por tu cuenta a pie. Pasa la noche en Dawson City.
Día 4
DAWSON CITY - EAGLE PLAINS
Hoy empezaremos temprano y viajaremos a la autopista Dempster. La Dempster es una de las auténticas grandes carreteras canadienses. Terminada a finales de los años 70, la Dempster sigue siendo la única carretera totalmente pública de Norteamérica que cruza el Círculo Polar Ártico. El trayecto de hoy se considera el más pintoresco; el Parque Territorial de Tombstone abarca los picos escarpados del oeste que dan nombre al parque y, más adelante, las Montañas Ogilvie ofrecen un paisaje soberbio y unas vistas impresionantes. A menudo se ven animales salvajes en los bordes de la carretera, así que vigila bien por si ves zorros, algún lobo ocasional y caribúes. Haremos una parada para comer al aire libre en un camping junto a un arroyo, donde los arrendajos grises, o "ladrones de campamentos", como se les conoce localmente, nos harán compañía siempre dispuestos a ayudarnos con las sobras. Al llegar a Eagle Plains a última hora de la tarde/principio de la noche, el modesto hotel, la gasolinera y el puesto de mantenimiento de la autopista -la única civilización en aproximadamente 300 km en ambas direcciones- ¡parecen un oasis! Pasaremos la noche en Eagle Plains.
Día 5
EAGLE PLAINS - INUVIK
Saliendo de Eagle Plains, nuestra primera parada será en el cruce del Círculo Polar Ártico, donde disfrutaremos de una copa de champán para conmemorar esta ocasión especial. Tras cruzar una cadena montañosa y dos ríos (el Richardson y los ríos Mackenzie y Peel), visitaremos la comunidad de las Primeras Naciones de Fort MacPherson. Aquí descansa la famosa Patrulla Perdida, encontrada tras perecer por el cabo Dempster de la RNWMP, que da nombre a la carretera. Antiguo puesto comercial de la Bahía de Hudson, algunos ancianos nativos todavía se preguntan por el pueblo con vestidos estampados de la Bahía de Hudson. Inuvik es una comunidad relativamente joven con una historia antigua. El gobierno canadiense encargó la construcción de la ciudad en los años 50, cuando se hizo evidente que el cercano pueblo tradicional de Aklavik se hundía lentamente en el delta. El pueblo inuvialuit (inuit, antiguamente denominado peyorativamente esquimales) también fue trasladado desde diversos puntos de la costa ártica. Apropiadamente, el nombre Inuvik significa Lugar del Hombre en lengua inuvialuit. Haremos una breve visita del pueblo de camino al hotel y por la tarde tendrás tiempo para explorar la ciudad a pie. Día 6
INUVIK - TUKTOYAKTUK
Hoy será un día memorable; viajaremos por el extenso delta del río Mackenzie hacia la costa ártica. En la entrada del río en el Océano Ártico, la carretera gira hacia el noreste y recorre la costa del Océano Ártico hacia el pueblo de "Tuk", como lo conocen sus habitantes. No lejos del pueblo, verás el primero de varios "pingos". Son montañas hechas literalmente de hielo, que se levantan estación tras estación con el deshielo y la congelación anuales. El más alto mide más de 100 m. Nos recibirán guías locales que nos llevarán a recorrer su singular pueblo. Las paradas en el camino incluyen la histórica goleta Dama de Lourdes y algunos de los famosos edificios comunitarios de Tuk, como las casas de tepes y las iglesias. También verás el emplazamiento de Alerta Temprana del Norte (antigua Línea DEW) e incluso tendrás la oportunidad de sumergirte en el Océano Ártico. Nos invitarán a un almuerzo tradicional y a una experiencia cultural inuit en casa de un residente local. Regreso a Inuvik a última hora de la tarde. Alojamiento en Inuvik.

DE INUVIK A WHITEHORSE

If the minimum number of participants has not been reached, we reserve the right to cancel a tour up to 14 days prior to start of the tour. You will be notified immediately and you are entitled to a full refund if you are unable to join one of our other departures. If we or our partners are forced to change the itinerary due to unforeseen circumstances, like forest fires, floods, breakdowns, all decisions are left to the discretion of the tour guide.
Charter Services & Custom Programs are subject to a deposit and cancellation policy that is different from our standard payment & cancellation policy. We reserve the right to charge additional deposit or full payment at the time of booking. You will be advised at time of exact deposit and cancellation terms.
LIMITATION OF RESPONSIBILITY
Arctic Range Adventure chooses its suppliers (e.g. hotels, carriers and other suppliers providing tour services) with great care. These suppliers are, however, independent contractors and Canadian Arctic Range Adventure cannot be held responsible or liable for their acts or omissions.
For all activity programs (i.e., but not limited to, river rafting, horseback riding, canoeing, hiking, sightseeing etc.) in Canada and USA clients will have to sign a “waiver of liability”. The tour operator and wholesaler is under the obligation to inform the client in time that a waiver of liability has to be signed at the beginning of the program. Arctic Range Adventure will, of course, always do its best to ensure the greatest possible safety for all its clients.
Arctic Range Adventure can also not be held liable for changes in tour itineraries due to weather conditions, acts of God or special conditions beyond our control.
All costs that may result from any delays of passengers at the airport or any delays that might occur at the end of the trip are the responsibility of the client. Arctic Range Adventure cannot be held liable.
Furthermore, Arctic Range Adventure cannot be held liable for the contents of any brochure prepared by a wholesaler or tour operator and any misrepresentation of our tours therein.
Should clients encounter problems during their trip they are required to contact Arctic Range Adventure immediately in order to solve the problem. Should a written account of concern be filed, it has to be sent to Arctic Range Adventure within 4 weeks of completion of trip. Claims received after that date cannot be considered.
An all inclusive accident- and luggage insurance for your tour is very important and highly recommended.
