Itinerary

The ever eminent landscapes of the sapphire Gokyo Lakes and the exuberant valley are sure to leave you absolutely captivated during the Everest Gokyo Lake Trek. The trek has the inclusion of trekking at the tranquility of the Gokyo RI which is mesmerizing; along with sights of the stunning vistas of the giant peaks like Mount Everest, Mount Makalu, Mount Lhotse and Mount Cho Oyu among many others- all stunning in their snowy quiddity. You will also explore the various Sherpa settlements all along your trail and will have the opportunity to experience their unique culture and follow their traditions and have a taste of their lifestyle in the Himalayas.

The Everest Gokyo Lake Trek begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. This short flight in itself is filled with dainty sceneries of the mountains and vibrant emerald hills. As you get closer to Lukla, the metropolitan of Kathmandu gets farther behind, and the sight of the city is replaced with lush forests and silver serpentine rivers. From Lukla, you would hike through the quintessence of harlequin woods and cross rivers of blithe to reach Phakding. The Everest Gokyo Lake Trek also lets you trudge through Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo Village, where you can experience the jocose of pine forestry to reach Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is a famous hub of the Khumbu region and is called “The Gateway to Everest”. Being a rendezvous point for Tibetan and Nepali traders and merchants, Namche presents astounding views of the vistas of Mount Everest and its many surrounding peaks. As an acclimatization process, you will hike to the Everest View Hotel where magnificent sights of cerulean mountains like Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Nuptse breaks into the continuous chrome of the cyan sky.

During the trekking journey of the Everest Gokyo Lake Trek, you will pass by the picturesque valleys of Dole and Machhermo before reaching the crystalline Gokyo lakes. The presentation of the lake comes into our perspective in a manner of continuous synchrony. The first lake that you will come across is the Longpongo, followed by the Toboche Tsho and thirdly, the Dudh Pokhari. Observing these sequential lakes in the crisp snowy environment of the Himalaya is a remarkable experience. Tour program

Day 1

Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu

You will meet our airport representative as soon as you reach Tribhuwan International Airport. And, you will be then transferred to your hotel. You will prepare for the trek and relax in the hotel. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 2

Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2652m/8699ft), Duration

We will, on this day, fly to Lukla from Kathmandu. This is the day when our trek begins. On this day, we will move down gradually, passing the large village- Chaurikharka, set at the height of 2680m and pass through some villages as well as wooded areas. We will also traverse along the Dudh Koshi before reaching Phakding. Overnight at guest house, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 3

Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11283ft), Duration

We will begin trekking from Phakding to Namche Bazaar on this day, which takes about 6 hours. We will also traverse along a suspension bridge above the Dudh Koshi River. We will enter the Sagarmatha National Park lying at Monjo village. After that, we will walk beside the Dudh Koshi River and traverse through another suspension bridge, from where the path moves to vertical staircases all the way through pine woods. Then, we will finally ascend to Namche Bazaar emerging through the alpine forest. Namche Bazaar is the administrative center of Everest Region where you can enjoy several facilities. Overnight at guest house, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 4

Namche Bazar and Everest View Hotel

We will acclimatize at Namche Bazaar for a day to stay away from altitude sickness. We will also make way up to the Everest View Hotel with a short hike. The Everest View Hotel offers magnificent panorama of Everest, Ama Dablam and several more peaks. We will also leisurely walk to the Khumjung village, where we can go around the monastery. We will then return to Namche again. Overnight at guest house, breakfast, lunch and dinner included
Day 5

Namche to Dole (4200m/13776ft), Duration

From Namche Bazaar, we will walk to Dole lying at 4200m. On the way, we will pass through rhododendron and pine jungles, blossoming ethereally. We will also notice beautiful cascades of water bodies and yak pastures during our walk. Beautiful vistas of Mount Khumbila and the Tawache (6542m) will also greet us on the way. Overnight at guest house, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 6

Dole to Machhermo (4400m/14432ft), Duration

We will have an easy day and walk down to streams, traversing through them via wooden bridges. After walking for an hour, we will reach Luza (4390m). From Luza, the track moves up along the side of the valley and moves across more elevated grazing lands and passes by chortens adorned with prayers flags. We will also see enchanting views of the eastern section Gokyo valley, and discover peak views of Toboche and Cholatse before getting to Machhermo Valley. Overnight at guest house, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 7

Machhermo to Gokyo Lake (4700m/15416ft), Duration

We will, on this day, ascend to a ridge for an exceptional view of the valley of Kangtaiga; and we will walk down to the river shore before ascending to the risky Ngozumpa Glacier, the biggest glacier in the world. We will also traverse a bridge over a river and pass Longpongo, the first lake among the Gokyo Lake series lying at the altitude of 4690 m. Walking further on, we will see the second lake, Toboche Tsho. To look at the third lake, we will move further and then Dudh Pokhari appears. The hypnotic effect of the turquoise blue waters increases with the rays of the sun shimmering coyly on the lake. We will additionally see Gokyo village set next to the third lake. Overnight at guest house, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 8

Hike to Gokyo RI (5360m/17880ft), Duration

We will have another rest day at Gokyo Village. We can also walk to Gokyo RI today. The Himalayan vista and the views of the serene Gokyo lakes from the top of the Gokyo RI are quite enthralling. We can also trek to the fourth and the fifth Gokyo lakes. The hike not just presents the stunning views of Gokyo Lakes, but also presents the views of Everest, Cho-Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu and Nuptse as well. We will then walk back to Gokyo Village. Overnight at guest house. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 9

Trek back to Dole (4200m/13776ft), Duration

We will descend on a track all along the Dudh Koshi River and get ahead to the first Gokyo lakes. The beautiful view of the Cholatse and Toboche peaks are captivating and are sure to mesmerize. Our track descends before ascending to a hill. We will carry on trekking through the sets like Machhermo, Lhafarma and Luza before reaching Dole. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 10

Trek back to Namche (3440/11283ftm), Duration

We will, on this day, trek to Namche Bazaar from Dole, which takes roughly 6 hours. You will also pass through the Khumjung village while traveling to Namche Bazaar. We will walk next to the superb views of Ama Dablam and then to conclude for the day, reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 11

Trek back to Lukla (2800m/9184ft), Duration

We will walk further on from Namche and pass through the Dudh Koshi River. After that, we will stroll to Monjo. Trekking further on from Namche Bazaar, we will get to Phakding and keep on walking to Lukla. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 12

Fly back to Kathmandu

After experiencing awesome moments of Everest Gokyo Lake Trek, we will fly back to Kathmandu on this day. Overnight at a Hotel, breakfast included.
Day 13

Kathmandu

Depature at home.

Today, Escape Himalaya’s representative will drop you at the Tribhuwan International Airport. And, you will leave Nepal, hopefully with beautiful memories.

General Booking Conditions

For Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan Tours: Provide us a photocopy of your passport and 20% of trip cost as a deposit while booking your trip with us. The deposit amount is nonrefundable.

Risk and Liabilities

All the Nepal, China and Bhutan Tours are conducted under the strict rules and regulations of the tourism board of the respective countries. We are not liable for any changes or cancellations of the trip under unavoidable circumstances like the change in rules and regulations of Country, Government restrictions, natural disasters, political instability and cancellation of flights, delays, sickness or accident and breakdown of vehicles. Any extra cost incurred due to such circumstances shall be borne by the clients themselves. Therefore, Travel Insurance is mandatory.

Last Minute Booking

We accept last minute bookings. You can book a trip to Nepal 7 days prior to the trip departure dates. Last minute booking may not be acceptable in the cases of Bhutan or Tibet Trips.

Postponing the Trip

A written notice should be sent to us 30 days prior to the trip departure date.

In case of postponing of Nepal Tour, minimum USD 150 will be charged as a current trip cancellation charge and the remaining amount will be transferred for the postponed trip.

In case of postponing of Tibet and Bhutan Tour, a trip cancellation charge will be charged as per the trending market rate of those countries. It solely depends upon the ongoing policy of our agents in Tibet and Bhutan. For now, 20% of trip costs and 50% of trip costs will be charged in case of postponing of Bhutan and Tibet Trip respectively.

Trip Cancellation (Nepal)

In case you intend to cancel your trip for any reasons, you need to write it to us 14 days prior to your trip departure date. We shall approve it as canceled only after receiving a valid written notice from the client. If the reason for your cancellation is genuine like injury or serious illness, you can postpone your trip or transfer your booking to another person who meets all the requirements for the trip. However, a fee of USD 150 per person will be charged if you postpone or transfer your trip within 15 days prior to your trip date. As per our policy, the deposit amount is non-refundable, therefore, you can utilize the amount to book a trip with Escape Himalaya next time.

Trip Cancellation (Bhutan)

A valid written notice of cancellation should be provided 30 days prior to your trip departure date. In case you cancel your Bhutan Tour, 20% of the trip cost will be charged as a cancellation charge (even in case of postponing or transfer of a trip to another person). The remaining amount will remain secured with Escape Himalaya as a deposit from you. You can utilize it to book the tour with Escape Himalaya next time. The amount is non-refundable.

Trip Cancellation (Tibet)

A valid written notice of cancellation should be provided 30 days prior to your trip departure date. In case you cancel your Tibet tour, 50% of the trip cost will be charged as a cancellation charge (even in case of postponing or transfer of a trip to another person). The remaining amount will remain secured with Escape Himalaya as a deposit from you. You can utilize it to book the tour with Escape Himalaya next time. The amount is non-refundable.

Incomplete Tour

We are not liable for any refunds in cases of any incomplete tour, trek or expedition whatever the reason.

Unforeseen Circumstances

If your trip gets canceled due to any unforeseen circumstances like natural disasters, war or unfavorable climatic conditions, we will arrange another trip for you. Thus, even if your trip isn’t the one you chose, your money will not go in vain.

Price Changing

We reserve our rights to change the price under various circumstances. Though our action will be reasonably pertaining to cases of some circumstances such as the drastic change in exchange rate, inflation, government actions, and others, we are not liable to answer to anyone for our action.

Travel Insurance

We highly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance package to all our clients. The insurance must cover all the medical expense, personal accident, emergency evacuation, and trip cancellation, loss of gears and natural calamity, theft of or damage to baggage and personal effects and helicopter services in the mountains.

Flight Delay/Cancellation

Flight delays and cancellation tend to happen quite often during bad weather conditions in remote areas, particularly in the Everest region, the Annapurna region, Dolpo, Simikot and Jumla region. Therefore, it is advisable to carry some extra money to buy food and accommodations in case of delays. Escape Himalaya will not be responsible for any of the additional expenses. Therefore, please plan accordingly.

We are not liable for any damage or loss of your luggage or property. They are at your own risk.

During the Tour

In case you commit any unlawful act during your tour and you are compelled to leave Nepal, Escape Himalaya is not liable for any kind of refunds.
