Whether you are visiting Kathmandu for the first time or have been here before, there is always something new to discover. Overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu.

Note: This day is not included in the price.

Start point

Kathmandu, Bagmati Province, Nepal

00:00 - 05:00

Start your day with excitement and anticipation. Depending on your flight time to Lukla, you can either have breakfast at the hotel or have it packed if you have an early flight. You will be transferred to the domestic airport. It is recommended that you sit on the left side of the aircraft to enjoy the panoramic view during the 35-minute flight. On landing at Lukla airstrip you will meet the rest of the crew (porters), you can have tea/coffee while the porters arrange your luggage to be carried on their backs.

Your trekking guide will lead you through the National Luminary Pasang Lhamu Memorial Gate, where the route to the epic journey begins.Your TIMS will be registered at the police checkpoint at the entrance and after an hour's walk we will have our first lunch stop at Thado Koshi. If you prefer to walk a few more hours, we can have lunch at our lodge in Phakding.Walking along the banks of the Dudh Koshi, crossing suspension bridges and sipping mango juices at quick stops, we finally arrive in Phakding. Your room keys will be handed over by our guide, take a rest and have a nice time at the dining hall, enjoy exploring nearby monasteries, villages, later dine at around 7.30 and have a first good night's sleep at one of the quality lodges.

Walking time: 3 to 4 hours, Accommodation: Local lodge, Meals included: B, L, D.

As darkness falls and the sun rises, we have a good morning meal in the warm dining hall, pack our bags, hand them to the porter team, and get ready for the day's trek. Following the instructions and briefing from the trek leader, we follow him through rocky forest trails, enjoying the overall atmosphere, the children's smiles, passing donkeys, rhododendron trees, and layers of hills. We enter the Sagarmatha National Park through the entrance gate, the stone steps, and large mani stones, it will be mostly downhill until we reach our lunch stop of the day at Jorsale.

After lunch, the challenging uphill walk to Namche begins, crossing numerous suspension bridges, the most iconic of which is the Hillary Bridge, from which we will have our first view of Mt. Everest after a few minutes' walk if the weather is clear. As the day progresses, clouds will begin to form with a slight chance of rain, a cool wind will blow and eventually we will arrive at the popular Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar. An amphitheatre-style village with many hotels, lodges, restaurants, bakeries, shops and ATM services, our trekking guide will show you the way to the hotel where we will have dinner and stay overnight.Comfortable wooden and stone built lodges, inbuilt coal warming at dining and quality rooms will bring you a good night's sleep.

Walking time: 5 to 6 hours, Accommodation:Local lodge Meals included:B, L,D

Today we will be walking at over 3000m above sea level, from where we should be aware of altitude sickness, its causes, symptoms and preventative measures. If this is your first time at high altitude, you may feel a slight headache and dizziness, which is perfectly normal. Our trekking guide will advise you to drink plenty of water and keep your body well nourished and hydrated at all times. We advise you not to take Diamox as far as possible and to avoid AMS simply by drinking lots of fluids, soups, water, tea and climbing gradually. However, depending on your physical condition at the time, it is recommended that you take a 250mg Diamox tablet after lunch and start at 3000m, i.e. from Namche.

Today we continue our day enjoying the warm sunlight, after a few minutes traversing through the stone paved entrance to the National Park, excellent views of Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Ama Dablam and even Mt. Everest in the far corner can be seen.It will be the best viewing day till today as we also give our visit to nearby museum and hike towards Everest View Hotel via Syangboche airstrip.A pot of tea/coffee, drinks and lunch at Everest View Hotel will be a mesmerising experience at 3800m altitude with panoramic views of the grand Himalayan range. We then cross to our lodge in Namche and enjoy free activities until the end of the day, including taking a shower. Hot showers are free at most of the hotels here, but at higher altitudes you will have to pay extra (around 500 rupees). Also, we'll probably do some souvenir shopping on our way back to Namche instead of today, as it's not a smart choice to carry things all the way up to base camp and bring them back down in the same place. After dinner at the hotel in Namche we go to our rooms for the night.

Hiking time: 4 to 5 hours, Accommodation:Local lodge,  Meals included:B, L,D

After breakfast, we will get ready and grab our trekking poles, then trace our steps towards Tengboche, circling the huge prayer wheel. We will enjoy walking through flat areas on the side of hills with charming views of Ama Dablam. We then walk mostly downhill through beautiful rhododendron forests, taking a bar of chocolate and dried fruit to replenish our energy levels, and finally crossing a beautiful suspension bridge to reach our lunch spot, Phunki Thangka.

Our heavy lunch at Phunki Thangka gives us the energy to reach Tengboche. After a strenuous ascent on steep forest trails, there is a sense of relief as we arrive at the top of the hill and check into our nearby lodge. As always, our trekking guide will hand you your room keys, and you are free to relax and explore the nearby attractions. The most popular and iconic attraction is Tengboche Monastery, the oldest and largest monastery in the Khumbu region.According to the local Buddhist monk, the current infrastructure was rebuilt in 1989 after it caught fire.We can also see monks playing football in a field. We will also have a delicious bite of cake and pastries at the nearby bakery.Later we enjoy evening activities in the dining room of the tea house and stay overnight.

Walking time: 4 to 5 hours, Accommodation: Local lodge, Included Meals: B, L, D.

Our day starts with excitement as we see yak pastures, mostly downhill through refreshing trees to Deboche and finally crossing Imja Khola on a wooden bridge. Then a steep climb takes us to the village of Pangboche, where there are great views of the Himalayas and surrounding countryside. There are many tea houses and lodges offering accommodation and food. We can stop at any of them for a quick rest and a refreshing drink. We then continue on a rocky, dusty, and windy trail to Pangboche, where we will have lunch. The wind picks up as we climb higher. Late in the afternoon, after crossing several hills, we jump for joy as we see our teahouse in the distance. There are many chortens, horse stables, and lodges with a few shops offering their services here in Dingboche. We spend our first night in Dingboche.

Walking time:3 to 4 hours, Accommodation:Local lodge, Meals included: B, L, D.

It is a fantastic feeling to wake up and see great views of the Himalayas right from your hotel room. We have our early meal and gear up for an acclimatization hike up Nagarjun Hill. There is also an option to take another acclimatization hike to Chukkung and get close to Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Island Peak, and other snow-capped Himalayas. Either way, we will trek to a higher altitude and return to our lodge in Dingboche for the night, making it a perfect active acclimatization day in Dingboche. We will go to bed early and get a good night's rest.

Hiking time: 5 to 6 hours,  Accommodation: Local lodge, Meals included: B, L, D.

Our day today starts with a straight ascent to Dingboche Hill and our trekking guide will lead you through easy trails for an hour or two towards a lunch stop called Dughla. We see the great Himalayas on the south side with a pass leading to Cho la. Overlooking these marvelous Himalayan landscapes, ranging from tiny shrubs to grand Himalayas and rocky mountain trails, we cross a crystal clear river to have lunch at one of the two restaurants in Dughla. We fill our tummies and walk straight up to the top of the hill.

When we reach the top, it feels like we are on another planet, surrounded by the Himalayas on all sides. An emotional feeling also arises when we see so many memorials built in memory of people who lost their lives while climbing Mt. Everest. We continue our gradual walk for just over an hour, on the way we see Lobuche Peak and a few camps in the spring climbing season. Finally we arrive at our teahouse in Lobuche.

Hiking time: 6 to 7 hours, Accommodation: Local lodge, Meals included: B, L, D.

Day ten is the most important day of the trek. Today we start with a gradual walk along rocky paths to Gorakshep, with quite a challenging hilltop climb and a very unstable path. Walking carefully, one step at a time, with the support of our trekking poles is essential as we don't want to slip and put a strain on our feet/knees. On arrival at Gorakshep, we check in at one of the lodges, have a rest, and a good meal, and stretch up to EBC. The path to the base camp is narrow and unstable. Our trekking guide will take care of each client to ensure a safe and successful trek. It is highly advisable to protect yourself from strong wind, direct sunlight, and extreme cold. Enjoy the views of the Khumbu Glacier, and icefalls and feel proud to be at the base of the highest Himalayas.Get your camera out and take lots of pictures, enjoy the breathtaking views and celebrate every moment of the EBC.Mission accomplished! We return to Gorakshep by the same route, have dinner and spend the night in a local lodge.

Walking time: 8 to 9 hours, Accommodation: Local lodge, Meals included: B, L, D.

We will wake up very early in the morning before sunrise at around 4 am to catch the best sunrise view of Mt Everest from Kalapatthar. Our trekking guide will help you to knock on the door if you prefer a wake-up call. Then we will gear up to put on our trekking shoes with a pair of trekking poles and a backpack containing a bottle of water with camera and some nuts. It will be a straight, steep walk in the dark, so we will need to walk carefully with a head torch. As we slowly walk up, we can hear the gurgling sound of ice crackling down from Nuptse and have the best views of Mt. Everest when the sun shines through the horizon, creating magic as it turns the white snow-capped Himalayas to golden in color. While we are at the top of Kalapatthar, it is also very important to protect ourselves from the freezing cold. You must wear gloves and cover your whole body from top to bottom.Your head may feel the altitude here and it is highly recommended that you take hot garlic soup a couple of times a day while you are in Gorakshep.Believe us, it helps! You will also see many helicopter rescues from here, as it is very necessary to descend as quickly as possible if anyone's health deteriorates.

Walking time: 8 to 9 hours, Accommodation: Local lodge, Meals included: B, L, D.

Our return trek begins early in the morning as we will be retracing our steps from Pheriche back to Namche. Most of the trek will be downhill with gradual and only a few one-hour climbs. We can also feel our breathing getting easier as we descend to lower altitudes. We get different views of the same place as we return along the same trail. In Namche, we buy some souvenirs, have a shower, and relax our aching muscles. After a long day of trekking, we reach Namche in the late afternoon and stay overnight in a Namche teahouse.

Walking time:4 to 5 hours, Accommodation: Local lodge, Meals included: B, L, D.

Today is a day of celebration as it is our last day of trekking in Lukla. Walking over the Phakding, crossing several river tributaries, enjoying the fresh Himalayan atmosphere, having a drink, dancing, and overall celebrating our successful trek with our trekking guides, porters, and team. Tipping is expected and our clients are encouraged to give our guides and porters something as a thank you, which can also be seen as doing something for the local people and society. At the end of the day, we stay overnight in a quality teahouse in Lukla.

Walking time: 5 to 6 hours, Accommodation: Local lodge, Meals included: B, L, D.

Enjoy your last morning in the heart of the Himalayas in the Khumbu region as you are likely to take a morning flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, check-in at your chosen hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. We recommend that you relax, enjoy a spa, or stroll around the culturally rich capital city of Kathmandu.L

Flight time: 27 minutes

This day is saved for Lukla Flight day as if on Day 13 if the weather doesn't permit then we can fly back to Kathmandu on this day.

You have an option for a Kathmandu sightseeing tour too or You can relax.
