This Samburu safari takes you on a great journey to explore the Samburu National Reserve of Kenya. You will explore the interesting landscapes and abundant wildlife including zebras, giraffes, elephants, leopards, lions, hippos, buffalos, rhinos, and much more.


For an even closer connection to the land and everything, you will get to explore Samburu on foot and enjoy a cultural encounter to learn about the Samburu pastoralists.

Day 1

Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport – Transfer to Samburu

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where a Saruni vehicle will transfer you to Wilson Airport for your flight to Samburu.


Depart Nairobi in the morning, arriving at Samburu an hour later, where your Saruni Samburu guide will meet you and transfer you to the lodge, or take you on a game drive. Afternoon game drive in Kalama Conservancy exploring over 200,000 acres of pristine wilderness in total privacy and sundowners with a breathtaking view.

Day 2

Wildlife viewing in Samburu National Reserve

Early morning game drives into Samburu National Reserve to seek out the ‘Samburu Special Five’: the reticulated giraffe, the Grevy zebra, the beisa oryx, the Somali ostrich, and the gerenuk; all rare species that occur only in this part of the country and look for its well-known larger wildlife including elephants, lion, and leopard.


Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back to the lodge to relax for the afternoon. Enjoy a complimentary half-hour Back & Neck massage upon arriving back at the lodge at the Samburu Wellbeing Space.

Day 3

Explore the wonders of Samburu – Nature Walk

Continue to explore the wonders of Samburu with a morning game drive and after lunch possibly head out on a nature walk to discover animals, plants, and the caves in the local area with rock paintings, led by your skillful and knowledgeable Samburu guides.


Evening game drive in Kalama Conservancy, the 200,000-acre private wildlife conservancy in which Saruni Samburu is located, ending with a bush dinner under the stars in the middle of the wilderness, and a night drive back to the lodge.


The Samburu warriors dancing, candles, and fire under the vast African skies, make this a truly magical experience, and one of the highlights of your stay.

Day 4

Morning Game drive, Drive back to Nairobi

Take an early morning game drive on your way to the airstrip enjoying for the last time the amazing wildlife and unending views of the Samburu Conservancy.


Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with Saruni. Depending on the time of your international flight, stop at the Talisman or Carnivore restaurant for dinner.

To reserve flights and gorilla permits we need: your full names as they appear in passport, your nationality and passport number.

Before confirming a safari, the client must inform Primate World Safaris of any preferences and special requests of the participants; e.g. medical needs, diet, requirements relating to disabilities and any other requirements. Primate World Safaris will meet the requests if possible.

All packages are subject to availability and not guaranteed until confirmed. Many lodges and hotels offered by Primate World Safaris have limited capacity and therefore it is essential to make reservations well in advance of your planned trip.

In the event that you wish to amend your reservation in any way, Primate World Safaris will make the preferred adjustment where practicable and possible and confirm accordingly. Primate World Safaris reserves the right to charge an amendment fee relative to the actual costs, which will be added to the total invoice.

Primate World Safaris reserves the right to change and re-adjust the tour schedule, transportation, accommodation and services indicated in the itinerary in the event of unforeseen circumstances before arrival. Any changes to the itinerary will be communicated to the client as soon as possible.


CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

All cancellation requests must be made in writing and shall be effective on the date of actual receipt by Primate World Safaris.

The following cancellation charges apply to the basic program rate:

60 days or more prior to arrival                             10% charge

59 – 32 days prior to arrival                                    25% charge

31 – 8 days prior to arrival                                      30% charge

7 – 4 days prior to arrival                                        75% charge

3 Days or less prior to arrival                                 100% charge


Primate World Safaris reserves the right to deduct all expenses incurred from money paid.

Gorilla and chimp permits and air tickets are 100% non-refundable.

No refunds will be made for any unused services, late arrival or no-show of any of the members of the tour.
