The Upper Swabia-Allgäu Cycle Route starts in Ulm and leads through Ochsenhausen, Wangen i.A., Aulendorf and Bad Buchau back to Ulm. Those interested in culture will enjoy the many sights. Enjoyable hours are spent in the restaurants and inns with Swabian cuisine, in the small cheese dairies in the Allgäu and in the many local, traditional breweries. On the way, the many baths will drive away aching muscles. The tradition of these Upper Swabian baths goes back to a natural remedy - the moor, which you can also see on the way. The cycle path leads through the middle of the Wurzacher Ried and to the Federsee-Ried.

Tour program

Day 1

Individual arrival to Ulm

Arrival in the lovely Münster city with the highest church tower in the world. Enjoy the evening and your free day in the city on the Danube!
Ulm, charmingly situated on the banks of the Danube, marks the start of this exciting circular route. After marveling at the cathedral and town hall in Ulm, we head south along the River Iller. Passing Laupheim with its Großlaupheim castle, we continue into the Rottum valley. We pass quiet villages such as Mietingen, Schönebürg and Reinstetten and shortly afterwards catch our first glimpse of Ochsenhausen and its magnificent monastery complex.
On your second stage, you embark on a journey with wide landscapes and historic towns! The highlights of the day are the Wurzacher Ried, the spa town of the same name and the town of Leutkirch.
South of Leutkirch, the Oberschwaben-Allgäu cycle path leads through the idyllic Allgäu region, from Leutkirch via Isny to Wangen.
With a view of the glistening Lake Constance and the mighty Alpine chain behind it, you pass historic towns such as Neukirch, Tettnang and Oberteuringen.
Schussenried Abbey and the old town of Bad Saulgau are the main attractions of this stage, along with Lake Federsee and the Federsee Museum. The thermal baths in Bad Saulgau and Bad Buchau offer soothing warmth.
On this stage, you cycle almost once around Lake Federsee and explore the villages of northern Upper Swabia. The destination of the tour is Oberstadion/Moosbeuren .
On the last part of the route, you can enjoy the view over the Danube valley. You pass Ehingen, whose town center is dominated by today's district court and market square.
