Day 2

ELEPHANT FOUNDATION/ SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS

After a delicious breakfast with a warm cup of Sri Lankan tea or coffee, you'll start a scenic journey through the beautiful countryside toward Dambulla. This area is the heart of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle and a gateway to some of the island’s most famous heritage sites.

Day Plan:

On the way, you will stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Rehabilitation Center, which takes care of wounded and orphaned elephants rescued from the wild. Here, you will have the chance to feed the elephants and even help bathe them in the nearby river. It will be a heartwarming and unforgettable experience.

Once you arrive in Dambulla, check in to your cozy, nature-friendly resort. You can relax by the pool and unwind in the peaceful natural surroundings.

In the evening, get ready for a highlight of your trip: a visit to the magnificent Sigiriya Lion Rock Fortress. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most iconic landmarks in Sri Lanka. Built by King Kasyapa (477–495 AD), the fortress sits atop a dramatic 200-meter-high rock and has stunning colorful frescoes, ancient ruins, and breathtaking views. Climbing the rock in the late afternoon gives you a great chance to see the sunset from the top, which is a truly magical sight.

You will stay overnight at Hotel Sigiriya or a similar cozy eco-resort in Sigiriya or Dambulla.

Day 3

HOT AIR-BALLOON / CULTURAL VILLAGE TOUR

Day Plan:

Start your morning with an optional hot-air balloon ride over the beautiful landscapes of Sigiriya. Float above lush forests, villages, lakes, and ancient ruins as the sun rises. This experience offers a memorable view of Sri Lanka from the sky. (You must pre-book this experience, and it is subject to weather conditions.)

Next, you’ll go on a lovely cultural village tour that provides a deep look into traditional Sri Lankan life. Travel by Tuk Tuk and then enjoy a relaxing boat ride across a calm lake to reach a local farmer’s home. There, you'll participate in a Sri Lankan curry cooking demonstration and enjoy a hearty, authentic countryside meal made with fresh, local ingredients.

In the afternoon, you can hike Pidurangala Rock, which is next to Sigiriya. Although it’s not as famous, it offers an amazing panoramic view, especially at sunset; it’s a great point to see Sigiriya Rock against the glowing sky. (This activity is optional and requires moderate physical fitness.)

Overnight stay in Hotel Sigiriya or a similar cozy eco-resort in Sigiriya or Dambulla.

Day Plan:

When you arrive at your beachfront resort, grab a towel and relax on the shore, or enjoy a refreshing drink under a palm tree. You’ll have two full days here to unwind, recharge, and explore at your own pace.

You will stay overnight at the calm or a similar luxurious beachfront resort in Passikudah.

Day 5

KINGDOM OF POLONNARUWA / ELEPHANT TRAIL JEEP SAFARI

Day Plan:

After breakfast, you’ll head out to explore the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important kingdoms in Sri Lanka. Established by King Vijayabahu in 1070 AD, Polonnaruwa became a busy political and religious center and now features remarkably well-preserved ruins.

One of the best ways to discover its vast archaeological treasures is by cycling through the ancient city. This lets you visit grand temples, stone carvings, and sacred statues at your own pace. It’s a fascinating journey into Sri Lanka’s rich history.

In the afternoon, get ready for an exciting wildlife safari at either Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park. Your tour leader will pick the best option based on seasonal elephant movements. These parks are known for the “Gathering,” where large herds of wild elephants gather near the lake, especially during the dry season.

Covering over 8,800 hectares, the park is a lush sanctuary for not only elephants but also deer, wild boar, buffalo, and a variety of exotic birds. Watching baby elephants play in the water as the sun sets is a magical sight and a dream for photographers.

You will spend the night at Sigiriana Resort or a similar place in Dambulla. It is a peaceful, nature-friendly resort.

Day 6

GOLDEN CAVE TEMPLE / HISTORIC CITY OF KANDY

After breakfast, you will start your journey to Kandy, the historic capital of the last Sinhalese kingdom. Kandy sits on a lush plateau and is surrounded by misty mountains. It is known for its cool weather, scenic beauty, and rich culture. The area is filled with tea plantations and diverse rainforests, providing a quiet escape into Sri Lanka’s highlands.

Day Plan:

On the way, stop to explore the Royal Cave Temple and Golden Buddha Statue in Dambulla, a remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site. When you arrive in Kandy, check in to your cozy resort with mountain views, where you can relax by the pool and take in the natural beauty around you.

In the evening, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most respected Buddhist temples in the world. The temple holds a relic believed to be a tooth of the Buddha, making it an important pilgrimage spot for Buddhists everywhere. You will also go to the Kandy Viewpoint, which offers a wide view of the city’s lake, temple, and nearby hills. This is a perfect spot for photos as the sun starts to set.

You will stay overnight at Thilanka Hotel or a similar place in Kandy, where you can enjoy a peaceful mountain view.

Day 7

ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDEN / TRADITIONAL DANCE SHOW

Day Plan:

After breakfast, start your day by visiting a famous gem and jewelry museum in Kandy. Here, you’ll learn about the rich history of Sri Lanka’s world-renowned gems. You’ll see how artisans craft these precious stones using traditional methods and discover the island's background as one of the top gem exporters in the world.

Next, explore the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, one of the best botanical gardens in Asia. Covering 147 acres, this lush space hosts over 4,000 plant species, including a remarkable collection of orchids, along with exotic spices, medicinal herbs, and tall palms. The gardens attract more than two million visitors every year and offer a peaceful retreat into nature.

In the afternoon, take some free time to wander through Kandy’s city center. Visit the Central Market, a bustling spot where locals sell fresh produce, handicrafts, and spices. It's a great opportunity to experience daily life in Kandy and maybe pick up some souvenirs.

As evening approaches, enjoy a traditional cultural dance performance. Skilled dancers showcase the art, folklore, and rhythms of Sri Lanka with vibrant costumes and lively choreography.

Overnight stay at Thilanka Hotel or a similar place in Kandy. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful mountain views.

Day 8

HILL-COUNTRY TEA PLANTATIONS AND WATERFALLS

Day Plan:

On the way, you’ll stop at a working tea factory located among the rolling hills. Here, you'll see the interesting process of making world-famous Ceylon tea, from hand-picking the leaves to drying and grading them. Finish your visit by enjoying a freshly brewed cup of tea, surrounded by the plantations where it was grown.

In the afternoon, take some time to explore Nuwara Eliya at your own pace. Walk through the city center, where you’ll find classic British colonial buildings, the charming post office, Grand Hotel, and Victoria Park, a well-kept garden suitable for a relaxing stroll. You can also visit the local fruit and vegetable market, which offers a colorful glimpse into everyday life in this highland town.

You will stay overnight at The Lynden Grove in Nuwara Eliya, surrounded by beautiful plantations and fresh mountain air.

  • Leopards, often seen roaming the trees and trails.
  • Crocodiles, lurking along the riverbanks.
  • Wild elephants, commonly spotted bathing or drinking near the water.
  • A wide variety of birds and other wildlife, all against the backdrop of a golden sunset.

Enjoy an overnight stay at Chaarya Resort & Spa in Tissamaharama, surrounded by the sounds of nature and the magic of the wild.

After an incredible journey through coconut groves, misty mountains, and cascading waterfalls, you have arrived at the sun-soaked southern coast of Sri Lanka, which is home to some of the island’s most stunning beaches.

Your destination is Mirissa or Dickwella, both of which were once hidden gems and are now popular with travelers looking for relaxation and tropical charm. These beaches are picture-perfect, featuring powdery white sand, swaying coconut palms, and the crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean softly lapping the shore.

Day Plan:

When you arrive at your hotel, grab a towel and head straight to the beach. Whether you want a refreshing cocktail, a cold beer, or simply to lounge under a palm tree, this is your time to unwind in paradise.

This charming coastal city combines Dutch and British colonial architecture with the tropical beauty of South Asia, creating a rich mix of culture, history, and atmosphere.

Day Plan:

On the way, you will stop in Matara for a photo opportunity with the iconic stilt fishermen. This unique and traditional fishing method has become a symbol of Sri Lanka’s southern coast.

Once you arrive in Galle, enjoy a leisurely walking tour through Galle Fort. This well-preserved colonial fortress features cobbled streets, vibrant boutiques, art galleries, and cafes.
