Leisurely through vineyards and the Rhine plain
The Palatinate is the second largest wine-growing region in Germany, blessed with an almost Mediterranean climate and numerous hours of sunshine. This means that you can even take the star tour in southwest Germany from the beginning of April until October. Each season has different surprises in store - such as the flowering season in spring, mild evenings in summer and the grape harvest in autumn. Wine is, by the way, omnipresent on cycling holidays, whether at a wine tasting, a walk through the wine villages of Wachenheim and Deidesheim or on the cycle paths through the vineyards.
Details about the Palatinate Wine Star Tour
The seven-day cycling trip, starting from Bad Dürkheim, takes you along idyllic paths through the Palatinate. Forests, meadows and vineyards alternate and bring variety to the daily stages. The cycling holiday program is just as varied. Let yourself be pampered with culinary and cultural delights - for example in Speyer, the secret German wine capital Neustadt or in Edenkoben.
Things to Know About Cycling Holidays in the Palatinate
In Bad Dürkheim you spend the first day comfortably with the bike handover and a short walk through the old town, which is only a few steps away from your hotel. The daily stages always start and end in Bad Dürkheim and are between 20 and 85 kilometers long. You ride on hilly terrain with only short climbs. In the Rhine plain the routes are mostly flat.

The Vineyards of Bad Dürkheim approx. 30 km
On the last day of cycling, the local winemakers are on the agenda. Not only is the largest wine barrel in the world an attraction, the view is also spectacular and there are many cosy spots to linger. Back in Bad Dürkheim, a wine tasting has already been organised at the Fitz-Ritter winery.
