Tour program

Day 1

Arrival to Munich

Individual arrival in Munich. Enjoy your first few hours in the Bavarian capital on the Isar.
Your first stage starts right in the heart of Munich and runs southwest of the state capital. From here, the route takes you past Weßlinger See and Wörthsee until you finally reach Ammersee, the third largest lake in Bavaria. You continue along the picturesque eastern shore of the lake via Breitbrunn to your destination for today, Herrsching. Not far from your accommodation today, on the Holy Mountain, lies the oldest place of pilgrimage in Bavaria, the famous Andechs Monastery.
From Herrsching, the route continues to the magnificent Lake Starnberg. The first port of call is Tutzing, on the western shore of Lake Starnberg. A particular highlight here is the museum ship "Tutzing", which houses a cabaret stage and a bistro. Further south, along the lakeshore, lies the romantic village of Seeshaupt, the birthplace and hometown of several well-known artists. The next section of the route stretches along the idyllic Osterseen lakes, past the Riegsee lake until you finally reach Murnau am Staffelsee. The Staffelsee is a relatively small lake with a lot of Bavarian romance. Murnau is also a true artists' town with plenty to discover.
From Murnau via the picturesque Kochelsee and the Loissach, the route today takes you along the beautiful scenery of the Alpine chain to Bad Tölz. Use the remaining time here to visit the interesting old town of Tölz with its historic market street. Some traditional inns also tempt you with many Bavarian specialties.
From Bad Tölz, the route follows the Isar via Lenggries to the Sylvenstein reservoir. The azure blue reservoir, surrounded by mountains and forests, comes pretty close to the wild beauty of Canada without exaggerating. A short breather here is therefore highly recommended. Strengthened, you continue towards the Achenpass. Once there, you follow the route downhill to Kreuth and reach Lake Tegernsee, another gem of Upper Bavaria.
Today you cycle from Tegernsee via Gmund on a section of the Via Bavarica Tyrolensis long-distance cycle path to Munich. If you prefer something a little more sporty, there is also the option of taking the more challenging variant via the Taubenberg and then the Munich waterway back to the state capital
Extend your stay in Munich for further sightseeing or an individual journey home.
