Itinerary
The 18-day Kanchenjunga North Base Camp Trek offers an exhilarating adventure through one of Nepal's most remote and pristine regions. This trek takes you to the base of the world's third-highest peak, Kanchenjunga, showcasing breathtaking landscapes, diverse flora and fauna, and rich cultural experiences. Starting from the vibrant town of Taplejung, trekkers traverse through lush rhododendron forests, terraced fields, and traditional Sherpa and Rai villages, eventually reaching the stunning Pangpema Base Camp. The journey provides panoramic views of majestic peaks, including Jannu, Makalu, and Everest, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts and seasoned trekkers alike. The trek is a perfect blend of challenging trails and rewarding experiences, encapsulating the raw beauty and tranquility of the Himalayas.

Day 1
Arrive in Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel. (1400m.)

Day 2
Kathmandu sightseeing tour. Visit Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple and Bouddhantha stupa.
Visit 4 cultural world heritage sites in Kathmandu. They are Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Bouddhanath Stupa. You will be guided by our local city tour guides.
Day 3
Fly to Bhadrapur and then drive to Illam
We will take a flight to Bhadrapur and then drive to Illam for an overnight stay.
Day 4
Drive from Illam to Taplejung (1820m) - 9 hrs drive
After breakfast, dive from Illam to Taplejung (1820m). It is about 9 hrs drive by local bus or jeep.
Day 5
Drive from Taplejung to Sekathum (1640m) - 5 hrs jeep drive
Early morning drive from Taplejung to Sekathum (1640m). It is about 5 hrs local jeep drive.
Day 6
Trek to Amjilosa (2,498m) - 5/6 hrs trek
After breakfast, we start our hike from Sekathum to Amjilosa. It is about 5-6 hours gradual up and down hike.
Day 7
Trek to Gyabla (2,725m) - 4/5 hrs trek
After having our breakfast, we trek from Amjilosa to Gyabla which is about 4 to 5 hours hike.
Day 8
Trek to Ghunsa (3,415m) - 5 hrs trek
After breakfast, we trek from Gyabla to Ghunsa village. It is a beautiful trek which is about 5 hours.
Day 9
Rest day at Ghunsa for acclimatization
We stay one more extra night at Ghunsa to acclimatize our bodies. We do a short hike around Ghunsa for an active day.
Day 10
Trek to Khambachen (4,145m) -5/6 hrs trek
After resting for two nights in Ghunsa we continue our journey to Khambachen. It is about 5 to 6 hours trek.
Day 11
Trek to Lhonak (4,792m) - 4/5 hrs trek
After having breakfast at Khambachen Guest house, we begin our journey to Lhonak. It is about 4 to 5 hours trek.
Day 12
Hike to Kanchenjunga North base camp (Pang Pema) (5,143m) and return to Lhonak for overnight stay - 6/7 hrs trek
Today is the most important day of our journey as we are going to visit the North base camp of Mt. Kanchenjunga. It is also called Pangpema. After visiting North base camp, we will return to Lhonak for overnight stay.
Day 13
Trek back to Ghunsa (3,415m) - 7/8 hrs trek
After visiting the North base camp of Mt. Kanchenjunga, we set our trek back to Ghunsa from Lhonak. It is a long day hike which is about 7-8 hours trek.
Day 14
Trek to Amjilosa (2,510m) - 7/8 hrs trek
After breakfast, we trek back to Amjilosa from Ghunsa. Today, we trek for about 7 to 8 hours.
Day 15
Trek to Sekathum (4 hrs trek) then drive to Taplejung (2,420m) - 5 hrs drive
Today, at the beginning, we trek 4 hours to Sekathum and then take a local jeep drive to Taplejung. A drive from Sekathum to Taplejung is 5 hours off-road drive.
Day 16
Drive to Bhadrapur - 12 hrs drive
Early in the morning, we take a local bus or jeep drive to Bhadrapur from Taplejung. Overnight stay at Bhadrapur.
Day 17
Fly back to Kathmandu
Your guide will transfer you to the Bhadrapur airport after breakfast and then fly back to Kathmandu. It is about 45 minutes flight from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu airport. Then transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 18
Departure from Nepal
One of our company representatives will drop you off at the airport before 3 hours of your scheduled flight time. We hope you had a wonderful time in Nepal with us.
