Itinerary

Journeys that spark the imagination can lead you to a realm of happiness and often change your life. Lace up your boots and venture beyond traditional trekking into Bhutan’s iconic Jomolhari Trek through scenic Himalayan mountains, stunning landscapes, pristine forests and mirror lakes.

This 12 Nights 13 Days journey includes full day excursion in Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan and a hike to the famous Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) precariously perched on the face of a rock cliff. The actual trekking is for 9 Days (Day 3-11) which starts from Paro valley and ends in Thimphu. Jomolhari Trek is longer than the Jomolhari Loop – the most popular trekking routes in Bhutan. With altitude differences of 2,500m and nearly 5,000m it offers a wide range of landscapes, fauna and flora. The highlight of this trek is the spectacular view of Mount Jomolhari from Jomolhari Basecamp (Jangothang).

Trip Highlights

  • Travel to Paro and Thimphu, the two most developed towns in Bhutan and immerse yourself into the mindful Buddhist way of life, away from the materialistic world, and discover why Bhutan has earned its nickname the ‘Kingdom of Happiness’.
  • Hike to an 8th-century sacred site where Bhutan’s iconic landmark, 17th century Paro Taktsang or Tiger’s Nest is located, perched on the face of a precarious 800m rock cliff.
  • Visit ancient temples and magnificent Dzongs (fortresses) and marvel at the fine wall paintings, exquisite architecture and craftsmanship that still continue to influence the Bhutanese architecture today.
  • 9 Days of trekking through the majestic mountains of Bhutan, glistening glacial lakes and pristine forests inhabited by some of the world’s endangered species of flora and fauna.
  • Interact and experience the life of yak herders who live semi-nomadic lifestyles at an altitude over 4,000 meters above sea level.

There are only two airlines that operate in and out of Bhutan; Drukair & Bhutan Airlines. The flight tends to get fully booked months ahead especially during the peak season. We highly recommended you book flight tickets much ahead of your departure date. You can either book the Drukair / Bhutan Airlines flight online by yourself or leave it to us if you have any trouble booking the flight, will be happy to help you in any way we can. We try to take the hassle out of our visiting guests by handling all booking process - flight tickets to/from Bhutan, visa processing, hotel reservations and all other ground handlings.
