9 Days Morocco Imperial Tour – From Marrakech to the Sahara Desert and Beyond

Arrive in Marrakech, where a private driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your riad. Enjoy a welcome tea and settle in. You’ll have free time to stroll nearby souks or relax on the rooftop terrace with views of the old medina.

After breakfast, drive to Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital. Explore the majestic Hassan II Mosque (the second-largest mosque in Africa) with its seaside location. Visit the Habous Quarter, explore the lively central market, and walk along the Ain Diab Corniche. Optional seafood lunch by the Atlantic. Overnight stay in Casablanca.

Today begins with a visit to Rabat, Morocco’s elegant capital. You'll start by viewing the Royal Palace from the outside, followed by visits to the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the historic Hassan Tower, both important symbols of Morocco’s modern history and architectural heritage. After exploring Rabat, we continue our journey north to Chefchaouen, famously known as the “Blue City.” Nestled in the Rif Mountains, this picturesque town is renowned for its charming blue-washed buildings, tranquil atmosphere, and winding alleys. It's a perfect place to relax, take photos, and soak in the unique blend of Andalusian and Moroccan culture.

After breakfast in Chefchaouen, we depart for Fez, journeying through the scenic landscapes of northern Morocco. Our first major stop is near Meknes, one of Morocco's historic imperial cities. Before reaching the city, we visit the remarkable Roman ruins of Volubilis. This UNESCO World Heritage Site showcases well-preserved mosaics, ancient columns, and remnants of a once-thriving Roman city, offering a fascinating glimpse into Morocco's ancient past.

After exploring Volubilis, we continue to Meknes for a short city tour. Known as the "Versailles of Morocco," Meknes is home to impressive landmarks such as the monumental Bab Mansour gate, the grand Heri es-Souani granaries, and the peaceful Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the city’s founder. You'll have some time to walk through the medina and soak in the imperial charm of this lesser-known gem.

In the afternoon, we resume our journey to Fez, arriving by evening. Once in Fez, you’ll settle in and prepare for your exploration of Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital the following day.

After breakfast, we begin our drive south through the Middle Atlas. Pass by Azrou’s cedar forests, stop to see wild monkeys, and continue through the scenic Ziz Valley. Lunch is served in a local village. Arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon, where camels will take you across the dunes to your desert camp. Enjoy a Berber dinner, live drumming, and stargazing in the Sahara.

Wake up early to watch the sunrise from the top of the dunes. After breakfast, return to the road and drive to Tinghir and Todra Gorges. Enjoy a short walk between the towering cliffs, then continue to the scenic Dades Valley. Overnight in a kasbah surrounded by rose gardens and natural rock formations.

Today we head toward Ouarzazate, stopping at the famous Aït Benhaddou Kasbah, where you'll explore the historic village with panoramic views. Continue via the High Atlas Mountains with several scenic stops along the way. Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon. Enjoy a relaxed evening or optional hammam experience.

This morning, meet your guide for a tour of Marrakech’s most iconic sites: the Bahia Palace, the Ben Youssef Madrasa, and the Koutoubia Mosque. Enjoy a stroll through the vibrant souks of the old market and end the tour at the lively Jemaa El Fna Square, where street performers, food stalls, and artisans bring the heart of the city to life. After lunch, return to your riad to collect your belongings before we transfer you to the airport for your departure.
