Itinerary

Take an overnight adventure tour to Gal Oya National Park which is the most untouched of all of Sri Lanka’s National Parks. This is the only national park in Sri Lanka that can be visited both by Jeep and Boat. Boat safaris bring the spectacle of herds of elephants swimming from one island to another island in the reservoir. This thrilling adventure tour will also give you a chance to stay in Gal Oya Lodge which is one of the most unique eco lodges in Sri Lanka. Eight spacious bungalows are nestled in the forest canopy, each one specially placed to take advantage of the spectacular views.

Day 1

Kandy - Gal Oya National Park

07:30You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Ampara

11:30You will arrive at Gal Oya Lodge and check in to one of the wooden eco bungalows in the lodge.

12:30Enjoy your Lunch at the main restaurant of the lodge.

14:00After lunch, you will proceed with your first adventure Safari in the Gal Oya National Park by Jeep. The Park is rich in flora and fauna which is a sanctuary to 32 species of terrestrial mammals. The highest populations are common Langur, endemic Toque Macaque, Leopard, sloth bear, Elephant, Wild Boar, three species of deer and Water Buffalo. Our more intrepid guests can couple the drive with a safari on foot. Hike through the park with our expert naturalists and see wildlife up close while exploring hidden corners of the park.

18:30Arrive back to the lodge and refresh your selves before the dinner.

19:30Have your dinner at the main restaurant of the lodge and spend the overnight.

Day 2

Gal Oya National Park - Kandy

05:00Wake up early and have your breakfast before starting the morning safari by Boat.

06:00Leave with your guide to do an exciting safari in the National park by boat. Enjoy the only experience in Sri Lanka that allows you to spot wildlife from the water. It’s a unique way to immerse yourself in the animals’ habitats. With a little luck you could spot elephants swimming between islands or bathing at the lake’s edge. A 2-3 hour safari by boat, and a scenic 40 minute drive from the lodge to the lake is perfect to explore the national park and surrounding villages.

11:30Arrive back to your Lodge and proceed back to your next destination. We will drop you at your next destination (Please reefer the inclusions section)
