Itinerary
Tatopani, meaning "hot water," has long been a favorite stop for weary trekkers. The village is named after the hot springs below it, near the new road, featuring two stone pools on the riverbanks.
Our carefully designed eleven-day itinerary offers the best of both adventure and relaxation. You'll start with a trek to Poon Hill, a renowned viewpoint offering a breathtaking panorama of the Himalayas, including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Machhapuchhre. After soaking in the stunning mountain views, you'll unwind in the hot springs at Tatopani.
The journey continues with a jeep drive from Pokhara to Tatopani and Beni, followed by a drive to Chitwan National Park before heading back to Kathmandu. Chitwan National Park is a treasure trove of biodiversity, with Sal forests covering 70% of the area. The park is home to about 600 plant species and 450 bird species. It's also a sanctuary for endangered animals, including the one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, gangetic dolphin, and gharial crocodile. In total, the park boasts over 43 species of large mammals, 526 bird species, 150 types of butterflies, 126 fish species, and 49 reptile species.
Important Note
Your safety is of paramount importance to us at the Alpine Club of Himalaya. We have the absolute authority to cancel the trip or change the itinerary, when deemed necessary or when we have reason to believe your safety is at stake. Weather conditions, the health condition of a group member, natural disasters, and such, can contribute to changes in the itinerary when traveling in remote mountainous regions. In these extreme situations, we kindly request that you offer your full co-operation to the trusted leader of the group appointed by the Alpine Club of Himalaya. However, we assure you that we will make every effort to keep to the above itinerary.

While entry to the temple courtyard is restricted to Hindus, tourists can view the temple from the eastern side of the river.

At the ACAP Checkpost in Birethanti, we present our ACAP permit and TIMS Card before taking the left branch of the trail on the west side of the bridge.
The path leads us through the bustling streets of Birethanti, winding through bamboo forests and past a picturesque waterfall and swimming hole. Continuing, we reach Sudami, located beyond a pasture used by caravans. From there, we steadily climb up the valley to Hille, and about 15 minutes above Hille, we arrive at Tikhedhunga. The trail ascends steeply via a stone staircase, which is said to have over 3,300 steps, leading us to the large Magar village of Ulleri (2080 meters). From Ulleri, we continue our ascent through pastures and cultivated fields, gradually reaching deep forests and the hamlet of Banthanti.
As we traverse magnificent oak and rhododendron forests, the trail takes us across two clear streams, a small ridge, and another stream before making the final climb to the Magar village of Nangathanti (2460 meters). About an hour beyond Nangathanti, we arrive at Ghorepani, where the hillsides below are adorned with up to eight species of Nepal’s national flower, the rhododendron. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

The climb to Poon Hill takes about an hour and offers one of the best viewpoints in Nepal, featuring stunning Himalayan views and a spectacular sunrise.
After soaking in the magnificent scenery, we return to Ghorepani for breakfast. We then continue our journey to Tatopani, descending steeply to Chitre (2420m). The trail takes us through the extensive terraced fields of the prosperous Magar village of Sikha. From Sikha, we descend gently to Ghara (1780m). Another steep descent of 500 meters leads us to Ghar Khola, where we cross the river via a suspension bridge. We then climb up above the Kaligandaki River before crossing it again. Finally, we turn north, reaching Tatopani, which means 'hot water' in Nepali, a name derived from the area's hot springs. Tatopani is a popular destination for shorter treks from Pokhara.
