Argentina Essentials: Buenos Aires, Iguazú, Salta & Mendoza

Today, you will explore the highlights of Buenos Aires on a guided city tour, discovering why this city is considered one of the most elegant and vibrant in South America. The tour includes a visit to Plaza de Mayo, the political and historical heart of the city; San Telmo, with its colonial charm and antique shops; La Boca, famous for its colorful streets and tango culture; Puerto Madero, the modern and sophisticated waterfront; Recoleta, known for its beautiful architecture and famous cemetery; and Palermo, full of parks, cafés, and trendy boutiques.

The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to continue exploring the city at your own pace.

In the evening, we’ll head to one of the most prestigious tango venues in Buenos Aires for a Tango Dinner Show. You’ll enjoy a delicious three-course dinner featuring traditional Argentine flavors, followed by an incredible live performance of tango music and dance — a true cultural highlight of any visit to Buenos Aires. After the show, transfer back to the hotel.

After breakfast, a transfer will take you to the airport to board your flight to Puerto Iguazú, located in the subtropical north of Argentina. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed and transferred to your hotel.

In the afternoon, we will cross the border into Brazil to visit the Brazilian side of the Iguazú Falls, located within Iguaçu National Park. This side of the falls offers breathtaking panoramic views of the entire waterfall system, allowing you to appreciate its scale and grandeur from a unique perspective.

You’ll walk along a well-maintained trail with several viewpoints with a spectacular  views. 

After the visit, return to the hotel in Puerto Iguazú for the evening at leisure.

Domestic Flight from Buenos Aires (AEP / EZE) to Puerto Iguazu (IGR) is not included. 

Passengers holding U.S., Canadian, or Australian passports are required to obtain an eVisa before entering Brazil.

After breakfast, we’ll head out along the scenic Route 12, crossing through Iguazú National Park until we reach the Visitors' Center and Central Station. From there, we’ll walk along 1,200 meters of elevated walkways surrounded by lush subtropical vegetation and islands, leading us to the spectacular Devil’s Throat. This 84-meter-high waterfall is the most powerful of the entire system, and its mist often creates a perfect rainbow — a truly unforgettable sight.

Afterwards, those who wish can take part in “The Great Adventure”, an optional excursion (not included) that begins at San Martín Island. This adrenaline-filled experience includes a zodiac boat ride down the Iguazú River to Puerto Macuco, getting impressively close to the falls themselves. The tour continues with a jungle experience in 4x4 vehicles and a short hike along the Yacaratiá trail, offering a unique perspective of the surrounding rainforest.

At the end of the adventure, we return to the hotel to relax and enjoy the evening at leisure.

At the indicated time, we will transfer to the Iguazú Airport to board our flight to Salta, in the northwest of Argentina.

Upon arrival at Salta Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel. Then you will take part in an empanada cooking class, the perfect way to immerse yourself in the local culture of Northwest Argentina.­

Empanadas are one of the most iconic dishes of this region, known for their flavorful fillings and perfectly baked or fried dough. During the class, you will learn the techniques for preparing authentic Salteñan empanadas — from making the dough and seasoning the filling to mastering the traditional folding method (repulgue).­

Your host will guide you step-by-step, explaining the use of local ingredients such as beef, onions, potatoes, peppers, and spices that give these empanadas their distinctive flavor. After cooking, you will enjoy tasting your creations fresh from the oven.

Domestic Flight from Puerto Iguazu (IGR) to Salta (SLA) is not included.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we begin our journey through some of the most stunning landscapes in northern Argentina. We follow a route that runs parallel to the Train to the Clouds railway, passing through the impressive Quebrada del Toro.

As we continue, we begin our ascent through the Andes until we reach San Antonio de los Cobres, located at 4,080 meters above sea level. Later, we follow the legendary Route 40 across the high plateau until we reach the breathtaking Salinas Grandes, a vast white salt flat located on the border between the provinces of Salta and Jujuy.

From there, we begin our descent along the spectacular Cuesta de Lipán, a winding mountain road where condors are often seen flying overhead. We finally arrive at the charming town of Purmamarca, known for its colorful adobe houses and the iconic Hill of Seven Colors and where we will have free time for lunch (not included). 

In the afternoon, we return to our accommodation in Salta to rest after a day full of unforgettable experiences.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we begin our tour by driving through the lush Lerma Valley, passing tobacco fields and picturesque colonial towns such as Alemania, which once served as the final station of the historic Belgrano railway.

We then enter the Quebrada del Río Las Conchas, where stunning rock formations shaped by wind and water steal the show. Along the way, we’ll see natural wonders like The Dunes, The Toad, The Bishop, The Devil’s Throat, The Castles, and The Amphitheater, among others.

Continuing along National Route 68, we arrive in Cafayate, the youngest city in the Calchaquí Valleys, internationally renowned for its wines—especially Torrontés, a unique white varietal that can be sampled during visits to local wineries, whether small artisanal producers or larger industrial vineyards.

In the afternoon, we return to our hotel in Salta to rest after a full day of exploration and breathtaking scenery.

At the indicated time, transfer to Salta Airport to board our flight to our final destination: Mendoza, the land of Malbec wine and home to the majestic Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas.

Upon arrival, we’ll be transferred to our hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to start enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and scenic beauty of Argentina’s most famous wine region.

Today we will discover the heart of Mendoza’s wine country with a guided half-day tour of charming Maipú, strolling through vineyards and olive groves against the backdrop of the Andes. You’ll visit two renowned wineries, learning about traditional winemaking techniques and tasting premium varietals—especially the local Malbec and Torrontés—and then head to an olive oil factory, sampling at least five different oils and learning about their production process 

This immersive experience reveals the rich cultural traditions and sustainable practices behind Mendoza’s iconic flavors. Then we go back to our accommodation in Mendoza.

Today, we’ll embark on an unforgettable journey through the majestic Andes Mountain Range, exploring some of the most iconic natural and cultural landmarks in the province of Mendoza.

As we ascend along the scenic mountain roads, we’ll stop at several breathtaking points of interest. First, we’ll visit Potrerillos, a picturesque town nestled in the foothills of the Andes. Here, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Potrerillos Reservoir, a man-made lake stretching over 7 kilometers in length and framed by dramatic mountain peaks.

We then continue toward the Uspallata Valley, a stunning area located between the pre-Andes and the high Andes, at altitudes ranging from 1,900 to 2,500 meters above sea level. Surrounded by the Cordón del Plata, this valley offers awe-inspiring landscapes and rich geological features.

Our next stop is the Puente del Inca (Inca’s Bridge), a natural rock formation that forms a bridge over the Las Cuevas River. This unique site, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands out for its geological beauty, vibrant mineral colors, and historical significance along the ancient Inca Trail.

From there, we’ll continue to the Aconcagua Viewpoint, where you’ll have the chance to admire Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas at 6,960 meters above sea level—an awe-inspiring sight framed by snow-capped summits.

The final stretch of our journey takes us to Las Cuevas, the highest village in Mendoza at 3,557 meters above sea level. Located just a few kilometers from the Chilean border, Las Cuevas offers access to the Christ the Redeemer Monument during the summer season, a powerful symbol of peace between Argentina and Chile.

After a full day of exploring the Andes, we return to Mendoza city with unforgettable memories and a deep appreciation for the natural wonders of this region.
