Muscat Sightseeing tour A sightseeing tour around Muscat, the capital of Oman, is a great chance to soak up the Arabic atmosphere and explore the city where the ancient architecture and monuments are combined with the modern life. The first sight on the tour is Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque which is truly a masterpiece of the world architecture. It took 6 years to erect it and in 2001 it was successfully opened. This mosque is a traditional light Islamic building made from sandstone and marble. It has got 5 minarets – one main and 4 side minarets which create a special distinctive look. The internal design is rich in mosaics, huge handmade Persian carpets and chandeliers decorated with crystals. Our next stop is the Royal Opera House – the pearl of the Oman musical and stage art. The third sight we can’t avoid seeing is Muttrah Souq – the market located right at the banks of the Gulf of Oman. That’s an ideal place if you want to have a look at the ordinary life of Oman. Just go along the rows, look for the items, bargain and have fun as here you can find everything starting from spices finishing traditional rugs, vases or just souvenirs.

Having seen the market, we should also look at the Mutrah fort. The fort leads its history at 1580s when the Portuguese had built it. It served as a military defense from the rivals in the past, but today it’s open for tourists. Next thing in Muscat to see is a well-known Al Alam Palace — the residence of Sultan Qaboos. From both sides the forts surround the palace, so you’ll likely enjoy the magnificent scenery. Located in the center of the city, it always attracts a lot of visitors and, although, people are not allowed to go in, they can easily go around and take cool photos.

From Muscat we start our journey toward to to East Coast and have our first stop at Wadi Dayqah Dam which is biggest dam in Oman. After that we will visit Wadi Al Arbeieen  is one of the most spectacular and worth visiting Oman wadis. It provides the ultimate soundtrack of nature that refers to the sounds of running water, birds and the wind flowing through the narrow channels. After that we will visit Bimmah sinkhole geologists have confirmed the 65-foot deep pool is in fact a sinkhole, but locals hold on to the legend that a meteorite hit the spot. Have a short swim here and lead to the entrance of Wadi Shab. Here, after crossing the lake on a board of small ferry, we start hiking in Wadi Shab. It is an easy hike leading us to the beautiful fresh pools where we can enjoy swimming to the hidden cavern with waterfall. 

In the morning We will then visit Wadi Tiwi where there is the option to walk in the wadi, following the pools up through a haven of lush vegetation and palms, After hiking in wadi we will show you the City of Sur with some old fortresses and the famous Arabian Dhow Factory, where you can see traditional wooden Dhows being built. After, we will drive on south along the coast until Ras Al Hadd. The afternoon you can walk around the Village or relax on a beach. In the evening we take you to the Turtle sanctuary at Ras Al Jinz. Here we will go on a guided beautiful walking tour on the beach at night under the stars, where we have a high chance of seeing omans great sea turtles stumbling on to the beach to build a nest and lay the eggs. If you are lucky, you can even see baby turtles hatching from some nests. 

After having breakfast discover the expanse of the infinite beach where you can find plenty of wrecked ships, bones and skeletons of whales, dolphins, camels, turtle birds and several other creatures who live & die in the wild place.

Today drive down cost towards south to Al Khaluf (Sugar Dunes) via Sinaw. arrive Barr Al Hikman, which is located in the centre of Oman’s east coast in Al Wasta Governorate (the central region). This island is considered one of the most important bird migration stations both in Oman and Southeast Asia and its home of a rich variety of bird species, including flamingos. Many birds congregate here, especially water birds coming from as far as Siberia’s northern shores.

In addition to being a sanctuary for birds and fish of all kinds, the existence of coral reefs off its shores make it a favourite destination for divers. Bar al Hikman, with a crystal clear view of the azure sea that stretches far towards the horizon. 

The peninsula is incredibly flat, so there seems to be nothing between you and a vanishing point. But appearances can be deceptive. This area also boasts hundreds of kilometres of perfect white beaches. It’s an amazing place and There is a feeling of infinite space here. Over night and camping in Al Khaluf sand duns near the beach.

Drive to  Rock Garden in Duqm, a lunar landscape with strangely shaped rocks that a dorn the amazing landscapes of nature. On the way to Salalah we make a short detour to the beach side to watch some interesting landscapes. 

Explore the wonderful natural sites on the Western coast of Salalah  . You will discover wonderful mountain panoramas, long sandy beaches and enjoy swimming in the azure waters of the Indian Ocean on the exquisite Fazayah beach. First, you will visit Sahalnoot spring where the spring waters create a small lake surrounded by limestone rock formations. On the long Mughsail beach you can spot flamingoes wading in the adjacent lagoon and see the looming peaks of Jebel Qamar. Next, you´ll move to Marneef cave with its incredible rock formations and wonder at the water fountains gushing out from the blowholes in the cliffs at high tide. Then you will drive up to the most fascinating lookout point in Dhofar – the breathtaking 800m high Shaat cliff. After that, you will relax and swim on a remote sandy beach Fazayah nestled under the backdrop of imposing mountain tops.

Of the numerous attractions clustered in the countryside around Salalah, the majority are located to the east of the city. The construction of extensive new roads (plus generally helpful signs) has made many places – which formerly required 4WD and a large slice of local knowledge – independently accessible to anyone with a saloon rental car. Leading attractions include the remains of the ancient port of Sumhuram, once one of the key staging posts in the frankincense trade, overlooking the idyllic creek of Khor Rori. Close by lies Wadi Darbat, home to a spectacular waterfall during the khareef, and the even more dramatic uplands of the Jebel Samhan, whose sheer limestone walls tower above the coastal plain; the drive up to the top is easily combined with stops to see the cavernous sinkholes of Tawi Attair and Taiq. Further along the coast lies the magical town of Mirbat, while those with a sense of adventure and time to spare can follow the recently tarmacked coastal road all the way to Hasik, some 200km east of Salalah.

After Breakfast we drive to Misfath al Abreen. This picture village lies on a steep slope at the foot of Jebel Shams, a few kilometres from the village of Al Hamra and consists of old homes and narrow streets. It has a large Falaj system which supplies water for many orchards, date palms and vegetables. It is worth to spend at least 1 ½ hours walking around the village. There are marked footpaths through the village and surrounding area. 

Today we drive up the Jebel Shams Mountain. After breakfast we drive  to the bigest Fort in Oman in Bahla, the UNESCO Heritage site. It was restored in traditional way of building and now stays over the rocks in full glory. After Bahla we make a stop to the ancient village of AL Hamra to visit a cute little museum, which opened up in one of the old restored houses within the village. Some Omani woman will show you around a traditional 7 bedroom house. They will also demonstrate how they used to make coffee, food and pottery in the old days. After the small tour you will be lead into a Majilis (Omani living room) to have Omani coffee/tea and dates. From there we start the drive up the Jebel Shams Mountain to the Resort where we spend the night. After our check-in, you have leisure time for the rest of the day. You can spend the afternoon walking around the famous Grand Canyon of Oman. There are many different walking paths to choose from (easy short or difficult and long). The Canyon edge offers spectacular views of the wadis and valleys below.

We start the day early to visit the  Nizwa Souq. It is among the largest of its kind in Oman. A wide variety of vendors offer their goods in the streets of the souk from 05:00 am to about 10:00 am each morning. Here you can find fish, meat, vegetables, pottery, jewellery, handicrafts and souvenirs which are sold in authentic old market halls that few places can boast. Especially interesting is the Friday cattle market, when the locals from the nearby Villages come to sell their donkeys, goats, cattle, sheep and chickens in a circus style open market place.Next to the Souq is  Nizwa Fortress. The fort is a museum today and offers splendid views of this ancient town and the surrounding mountains. You can walk around in this impressive fortress and visit its many rooms, passages and towers.The fort is an architectural testimony to the economic and military achievements of the early Yaruba dynasty from the mid-17th century. It was a military stronghold designed to withstand even the strongest of attacks at the time.Later drive towards Jabal Akhdar (Green Mountain) but on the way visit the old village of Birkat Al Mawz, walking through the plantation and small streets with old crumbling houses and Continue to Mountain.Jabal Akhdar In mountain villages, changing seasons are accompanied by different crops and the ripening of various fruits. An interesting walk through mountain villages with terraced farms and ancient falaj irrigation systems; with magnificent views over Wadi Muhaydin. Look out for fossilised coral, and the chance to see a rose water distillery in action.

After breakfast we head toward to Wadi Bani Khalid. Here we stop for a refreshing swimming in fresh deep pools and explore the hidden Mukal Cave. Relax under the sun and feel a nice breeze from the mountains. After tasty lunch in the Wadi, we then drive to Bidiya village for a photo stop to Al Mintirib Fort dated back to 7th century. Today we are going to visit Bedouin family in the desert. After spending some time with the family and enjoying a delicious traditional lunch, Omani coffee and dates, we arrive to the desert camp. In the evening we drive deep in the desert to watch sunset from the dunes and take an amazing photographs. BBQ dinner at the camp. After dinner enjoy a friendly conversation with friends around the camp fire. Overnight in hotel 

After breakfast, transfer to the airport or Muscat hotel. Take the memories of your adventures with you on your flight home.
