Mardi Himal Trek

This is the first day of the Mardi Himal Trek. You arrive to Kathmandu today. We will assist you

to drive you to hotel after welcoming you at the Kathmandu airport arrival hall. We will have a

trip briefing meeting today if your arrival is early in the day or if your arrival is late, we will

meet tomorrow morning for the same.

It is a preparation and acclimatization day in Kathmandu before we set off for the trekking

adventure. We will go for a sightseeing tour of cultural heritage monuments in Kathmandu

valley. The heritage tour in Kathmandu is a rich cultural, historical and spiritual immersion that

takes us right back to the ancient time when Kathmandu valley used to be a lake.

We visit Swoyambhunath aka monkey temple, Patan Durbar Square – a medieval palace

square, Pashupatinath to see Hindu cremation on the bank of River Bagmati, and finally

Boudhanath – the largest Buddhist stupa.

We will return back to hotel leaving ample time to go for any last minute preparation of the big

trekking adventure to the Annapurna Base Camp.

We check out the hotel here in Kathmandu early in the morning and get ready for a long day

drive to Pokhara. We will drive to the beautiful lake city, 200 km west of Kathmandu, by a

tourist bus. About 7 hours of drive takes us through beautiful countryside atmosphere of Nepal.

Beautiful local towns and villages, wonderful surrounding landscapes and peaceful atmosphere

along the highway that we drive makes the long journey easy. Once we reach Pokhara, we will

have time to explore the lakeside after checking into hotel. We spend relaxing time in Pokhara

for the day.

We will drive to Kande for about one hour to start the trek. On the first day of trek to Mardi

Himal Base Camp, we will go to Pitam Deurali to stay overnight. We walk past beautiful villages

of Australian Camp and Pothana to reach the destination. We can enjoy the view of mountains in

the Annapurna range as we walk along the nature trail. It’s a peaceful day walk full of natural

wonders and views.

The second day of walk on the trek is all through forest. It’s a peaceful stretch of forest walk for

about 4 hours. The walk brings only a few occasions to see the mountains as we will be walking

through dense forest. The highlight of the day walk today is nature. The trail passes through

rhododendron and many other different plants to forest camp. The walk is fairly easy today with

only fewer short uphill trails. Forest Camp lies at the bottom of a forested hill amidst beautiful

nature.

We will have to do uphill trek all the way to High Camp today. After walking for about half an

hour, we will come to a point to see a spectacular view of Mt. Fishtail (6,993m) and the valley

stretch below. It will take us about 5 hours to reach the High Camp. We trek past Low Camp and

Badal Danda and eventually to High Camp. When we reach the High Camp, breathtaking view

of Annapurna range is there to welcome us. We take a nice rest to prepare for the early morning

hike to the base camp tomorrow.

Our day starts really early today. We will have to start walking at 4 o’clock in the morning

towards the base camp. The purpose of starting early is to reach the view point for sunrise and

catch the early birds view of pristine and majestic mountains. Later, as the sun comes higher,

mountains start getting covered in the blanket of clouds. A steep uphill walk of about 2 hours to

view point and a ridge walk to the base camp brings us unforgettable views. After spending a

memorable time at the base camp and view point, we trek back to High Camp and later trek back

to Low Camp to stay overnight.

It is our final day of walking adventure in the Mardi Himal region of Annapurna. We will have

to walk a steep downhill through forest to Sidding village. About 2.5 hours of downhill trek takes

us to the place where we can get a four wheel jeep to drive us back to Pokhara. Once we reach

Pokhara, we will spend relaxing time around the Lakeside.

Another seven hours of drive takes us back to Kathmandu today. There is a flight option at an

extra cost. Once back in Kathmandu, we will have free time to relax and wander around.

We are on the last day of the trip. We will drive you to airport for your departure flight. Get

ready at your hotel three hours prior to your flight time.
