The Dhaulagiri Base Camp is a challenging and one of the best trek among the many trekking in Nepal. The mountain’s name “Dhaulagiri” comes from Sanskrit where dhaula means dazzling, white, beautiful and giri means mountain, the 7th highest mountain in the world. We start the trek from low elevation following the Myagdi river and ascent to high elevation including Italian Base Camp, Dhaulagiri Base Camp and passing through the 2 significant passes “French Pass” & “Dhampus Pass” and explore “Hidden Valley” between these 2 passes; which is like a hidden treasure! We end up our trek at Jomsom and fly back to Kathmandu via Pokhara.

Tour program

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m)

We will be met on arrival at Kathmandu airport by local representative and driven to the hotel. Overnight hotel, inclusive of breakfast.

Day 2

Fly to Pokhara, drive to Beni and trek to Tatopani (875m)

Having early morning breakfast, we drive to airport (20 minutes drive) and we will arrive in Pokhara airport after 25 minutes scenic flight; then we drive to Beni – 82 k.m (approx. 3 hours). We meet our rest of the trekking crews here. After lunch, we start our first day walking to Tatopani along the bank of Mayadi Khola (river)- 3 hours walking. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.

Day 3

Trek to Dharapani (1,470m)- 6 to 7 hours walking.

Today we walk along the Myagdi Khola passing through many villages of Gurung and Chetri; and crossing some suspension bridges. Also, we will see our first view of Mt. Dhaulagiri to the north. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.


Day 4

Trek to Muri (1,856m)- 5 – 6 hours walking.

From here we walk through some nice traditional villages of Takum and Sibang. We will see good view of snowy peak mountains including Gurja Himal and Puta Hiunchuli to the west. We spend overnight at Muri, a nice settlement of Magar community. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.


Day 5

Trek to Boghara (2,070m)- 6 - 7 hours walking.

From here we descend to the Muri Khola bridge. After crossing the bridge over the river, we gradually ascend further to the north valley by crossing some rice fields and farmhouses. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.


Day 6

Trek to Dobang (2,350m)- 6 - 7 hours walking.

Today we follow the trail to the west bank of Myagdi Khola through narrow and undulating trail. We cross several streams and we walk through pleasant forest. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.

Day 7

Trek to Sallaghari (3,040m)- 5 - 6 hours walking.

Today we walk through the forest of lush vegetation of ferns, bamboo, pine & rhododendrons. We then walk to the east bank of the Myagdi Khola and arrive at Sallaghari in the forest. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.

Day 8

Trek to Italian Base Camp (3,660m)- 3 - 4 hours walking.

From here we walk through pleasant forest of pine, rhododendron and juniper; and we ascend to a grassy area on the moraine; then we arrive at our camp. From here we see impressive view of Mt. Dhaulagiri. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.

Day 9

Acclimatization day in Italian Base Camp

After having breakfast, we go for day hiking to higher elevation and explore the valley for a couple of hours. Rest of time we relax at the camp. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.

Day 10

Trek to Glacier Camp (4,200m)- 4 to 5 hours walking.

Today we walk following the glacier and impressive narrow gorges. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.


Day 11

Acclimatization day in Glacier Camp

Here we will acclimatize again to avoid the risk of altitude sickness before walking to Dhaulagiri Base camp. This day we can just relax at our camp or go for day walking to higher elevation. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.

Day 12

Trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4,740m)- 4 hours walking.

The trail to Dhaulagiri Base camp is rough and slippery; we walk through a long moraine-covered glacier to reach our camp at the Base camp. From here we can see impressive view of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Tukuche Peak. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.


Day 13

Acclimatization day in Dhaulagiri Base camp

This is another important day for acclimatization before crossing the French Pass (5,360m). This day we go for day hiking on the direction to French Pass. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.


Day 14

Trek to Hidden Valley (5,050m) via French Pass (5,360m)- 6 - 7 hours walking.

Having an early breakfast; we leave our camp and ascend to French Pass. We stop here for some times for photography. We see magnificent view of Tukuche Peak, Mukut Himal, Tashi Kang and Mt. Dhaulagiri. Then we descend steeply down overlooking the view of hidden valley. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.


Day 15

Trek to Yak Kharka (3,680m) via Dhampus Pass (5,240m)- 7 – 8 hour walking.

From here we gradually ascend to Dhampus Pass overlooking the view of Hidden valley (truly a hidden treasure!). From the Pass we see the amazing views of Mt. Nilgiri and Mt. Annapurna. Then we gradually descend left into Kaligandaki river valley and reach at Yak Kharka. Overnight at tented camp, inclusive of full board meal.

Day 16

Trek to Jomsom (2,670m) via Marpha- 4 to 5 hours walking.

Today we steeply descend to Marpha; which is situated in the bank of Kaligandaki river; a nice settlement of Thakali people, having a nice monastery and apple orchids. From here we take an easy walking to Jomsom by following the Kaligandaki river bank. Overnight at guesthouse, inclusive of full board meal.


Day 17

Fly to Pokhara and Kathmandu

After early morning breakfast and see off our crews we take a 20 minutes short; but impressive flight to Pokhara with the view of Annapurna Himalaya massif and of course Mt. Dhaulagiri. After arriving in Pokhara; we take another flight to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel; inclusive of breakfast.


Day 18

Transfer to Airport for your onward Journey.

After breakfast; we are driven to the airport to board our flight back home.

56 days prior to departure - 80% refund.

42 - 55 days prior to departure - 70% refund.

29 - 41 days prior to departure - 50% refund.

01 - 28 days before departure- no refund.

INCOMPLETION OF YOUR HOLIDAY

No refund will be made who leave out from the tour regardless of whatever portions remain unused in the program.

-Accessible Adventure reserves the right to cancel or refuse your booking due to unforeseen circumstances like war, natural disasters, conflict, unfavorable climate etc.. In this event, Accessible Adventure may offer you an alternative trip of a similar standard. In case, the alternative tour doesn?t meet to your interest, Accessible Adventure will refund all monies paid by you.

-Accessible Adventure will not take responsible for any delay or cancellation of flights due to bad weather conditions, road blockage, landslides, strike. Any expesnes incurred during this period will be your responsible.

PARTICIPANTS RESPONSIBILITIES

-It is your responsibility and ensure yourself that you have a valid passport at least 6 months, and all necessary visas, permits or travel insurance for your selected holiday. Accessible Adventure will not be responsible for any problems, delays or denied entry in the event you are not having of valid travel documents.

-It is your responsibiltiy to follow the laws and regulations of the counties visited. In case of voilation of laws and regulation; you are oblised to leave out the tour anytime without any claims or complaints against Accessible Adventure. In such a case, Accessible Adventrue will not be responsible for any refund, compensatoin or addtional expenses incurred by you.

-It is your responsibility to look after your belongings yourself. Accessible Adventure will not take responsible for any loss, theft or damage to any of your belongings.
