The participants in a motorcycle tour are fully aware of the risks and dangers involved and accept full liability. They also are themselves responsible for any damage caused to third parties and agree to forgo all claims against

“Explore Morocco Travel” and its employees for any personal damages occurring during the tour.

All complaints must be reported immediately to the tour guide and cannot be considered at a later time. We do not accept any liability for delays caused by breakdowns or necessary repairs to motorcycles or transportation vehicles during the tour. Any disputes arising will be settled before a competent court of law in Morocco.

CONDUCT

Explore Morocco Travel and its designated representatives reserve the right to disqualify any person as member of any trip or tour, should such person's actions or general deportment impede the operation of the trip or the rights or welfare or enjoyment of other members of the trip. Refunds are usually not given under these circumstances. In such extraordinary instances when a refund is granted, the limit of Explore Morocco Travel' re-imbursement will not exceed the cost of unused services.

PERSONAL INSURANCE:

There is no insurance available locally to cover injury to the rider, or medical bills and repatriation costs resulting from an accident. It is OBLIGATORY that clients take out additional insurance at home, at their own expense, to cover such things as tour and travel cancellation/interruption, personal accident, health and medical, repatriation, property loss, etc.

Clients may be refused access to Explore Morocco Travel equipment if evidence of such insurance cover is not shown at the start of the tour.

WEATHER CONDITIONS

Explore Morocco Travel

strives to schedule its tours at a time of the year when the weather in the touring area is usually pleasant for motorcycling. Our tours pass through areas where changes in weather conditions can be sudden and dramatic. Explore Morocco Travel cannot be made liable for unfavourable weather conditions and no refunds are made for such conditions. We reserve the right to make route modifications as necessary to improve the trip quality or to accommodate the well-being and comfort of our clients.

RIDER REQUIREMENTS:

Riders must be at least 18 years of age, and must hold an unrestricted motorcycle license of unlimited capacity motorcycles from their country of residence. All local traffic rules must be complied with. Your tour leader will give each rider a briefing about local speed limits, and other applicable traffic regulations. It is the rider's responsibility to adhere to all traffic regulations. Helmets are mandatory at all times.

Riders must adjust their riding to accommodate changes in the weather, road conditions and other road users. They hereby acknowledge that motorcycling can be a dangerous activity, they are aware of the risks involved, and fully accept these risks. They are solely responsible for keeping their motorcycle under control, selecting proper speeds, (riding at appropriate speeds for the conditions) and adhering to the country's road traffic laws.

If during the course of the tour, the client's motorcycle cannot be used due to damage caused by an accident or negligent use, then the client will be required to return back to Explore Morocco Travel premises in either Marrakech or Ouarzazate by public transportation. A second motorcycle will not be furnished to the client. The cost of returning by public transportation will be the sole responsibility of the client. Explore Morocco Travel will not be held liable for such costs.

The Client hereby agrees to assume all responsibility for costs incurred due to damage to the motorcycles and riding gear which result from accidents and/or negligent and careless riding. In the event of such aforementioned damage, the cost of this will be assessed and deducted from the client's deposit.

MEDICAL & HEALTH ADVICE

Clients with existing medical conditions should make them known to Explore Morocco Travel before the start of the tour, given that clients will be, at some time during their trip, in some of the most remote places in Morocco. Under certain circumstances, evacuation could be prolonged, difficult, expensive or impossible. Clients should take special care. If they feel sick, they should tell us so we can start making arrangements for evacuation should it become necessary. Hospital facilities are good in Morocco.

WHAT IS NEEDED

An inclusive tour means just that. Full board and accommodation are included in the tour price, as of course are bike hire, back-up and 3rd party insurance cover. The only extras you would need to pay for upon arrival in Ouarzazate would be riding equipment (available for rental for 20 euros per day), drinks and souvenirs, should you find that essential purchase in one of the local markets.

Accommodation differs greatly from the luxury of the large hotels in the centre of town frequented by film crews to small hotels in the Atlas Mountains and auberges at the dunes and in some of the oases.

Insurance cover - local third party insurance cover is provided, but it is essential that you take out your own travel insurance to cover medical, repatriation and legal fees. You will also need a full bike licence.

All that is left for you to do, is to get yourself down there.

There are three daily flights to and from Ouarzazate, and numerous discount or budget flights to Marrakech. Others may want to incorporate a single day's riding into an existing holiday plan, though we would advise you to confirm places in advance to avoid disappointment.

Tour program

Day 1

Ouarzazate - Anti Atlas - Draa Valley - Zagora

After getting kit and bikes from our shop, 75km of tarmac gets us to the start of the piste. A quick coffee and we hit the dirt on a beautifully flowing hilly track, that gets increasingly rough and challenging throughout the morning. A steep, and if there has been recent rain, rocky mountain pass at the end of the morning. A picnic lunch on the trail..

The mountains become increasingly canyon-like in the afternoon, before a dramatic descent down the side of a canyon, brings us out onto the Draa Valley. A delightful piste runs through the ancient mud walled villages of this famous region, though there is the option of following the assistance vehicle on road to the hotel in Zagora.

Start point

Ouarzazate, Souss - Massa - Draâ, Morocco

08:00 - 10:30

Day 2

Zagora - Erg Chigaga - Iriki - Foum Zguid

We'll get an early start this morning as the day promises to be long and tiring. We head South on old Rally tracks, where you can practice the skill of keeping the bike stable at high speed. A quick refuel for the bikes, before we head off on the fast and flowing tracks that head west to the sand dunes of Chegaga. We arrive at the dunes for an enjoyable lunch, before heading West to Foum Zguid. Initially rocky, the piste quickly smoothes out, and we are soon sailing across the (usually) dry lake bed of Lac Iriki. Find out how fast a KTM will really go. We pick up an old Dakar Ralley piste which brings us into the town of Foum Zguid, and enjoy a comfortable night and great food at our hotel set in a picturesque palmery.

Day 3

Foum Zguid - Taznakht - Anti Atlas - Ait ben Haddou - Oasis Fint - Ouarzazate

Today, we will cross the Anti-Atlas mountains, and after a short tarmac liason, we arrive at an incredible gorge, where the local berber villagers grow dates on an intensive scale. One more village, and our last opportunity for shade until lunchtime, before we climb, climb, climb up dramatic tracks clinging to the side of this ancient mountain range.

A short descent and a quick blast across agricultural plains, brings us to Tazenakht, where lunch will be served. This small town is famous for its berber carpet cooperations. You are welcome to attend a detailed demonstration of how the women of the area are producing the colorfully masterpieces which can also bring some oriental flair to your house.

Shortly before the desert capital Ouarzazate, you have the opportunity to visit the famous Kasbah Aït-Ben-Haddou, the fortified clay city with its numerous ksars and kasbahs, where several famous movies such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven and Prince of Persia have been shot.

You'll continue the trip to Oasis Fint, where you will enjoy a traditional Moroccan Mint tea. You have time to explore the quiet and peaceful oasis at the river together with a guide and learn about the local life of the friendly inhabitants. Return travel to Ouarzazate and get dropped off at your hotel/riad in the evening.
