Itinerary

In addition to the classic sights of Vietnam, discover the spectacular rice terraces of Sapa. From Hanoi, you travel to the far north to Sapa, then explore Halong Bay and continue south to Hue and Hoi An in central Vietnam. Finally, your route takes you to South Vietnam with an overnight stay in the metropolis of Saigon and the Mekong Delta.

This route takes you through the whole of Vietnam. You start in the capital Hanoi and travel by car towards the Chinese border in the far north. The mountainous region around the city of Sapa is populated by numerous ethnic minorities and will leave a lasting impression on you with its spectacular rice terraces. After your detour in the far north, you will travel back to Hanoi and from there on to the famous Halong Bay, which you can marvel at on a 2-day cruise. A domestic flight takes you further south to central Vietnam, stopping off in the old imperial city of Hue and the medieval town of Hoi An. Another domestic flight then takes you to the tropical south of Vietnam. Immerse yourself in the colorful nightlife of the big city of Saigon and enjoy the lush greenery of the Mekong Delta in Can Tho and VungLiem. You will cover the longer distances of around 600 km between the individual regions of the country on a one-hour flight and shorter distances by car. Arrival in Hanoi - the capital of Vietnam. Reception by your tour guide and transfer to your hotel (check-in from 14:00). The rest of the day is at your leisure.

The spectacular rice terraces of Sapa (B)

Today you will travel by car from Hanoi to the far north of Vietnam to Lao Cai. After a 4 to 5-hour drive, the phenomenal mountain landscape of Vietnam around Sapa with its famous rice terraces awaits you. The drive takes you along small villages, fields and green, wild forests. This area is also home to Vietnam's various hill tribes, whose colorful traditional costumes immediately catch the eye. Many members of the colorful Hmong and Dzao ethnic groups live here. In the afternoon, you will visit the village of Ta Phin and the village of Cat Cat, where the Dao and H'mong minorities live. Afterwards, you have the opportunity to stroll through the market in the mountain village of Sapa and practise your trading skills. You will also visit the old stone church dating back to 1926.

Day 4

Trekking tour through a fascinating landscape (F)

You will be driven to Y Linh Ho, the starting point for today's trekking tour through the fascinating landscape of the mountain region. The approximately 3-hour trekking tour takes you through the Muong Hoa Valley, past colorful gardens and lush green forests. On the hike, you can gain an insight into the everyday life of the mountain people. You then travel to the small, remote village of Matra, where the Black Hmong people live. A second hike takes you again through the spectacular landscape with phenomenal panoramic views of the rice terraces that line the slopes.
You spend the night in your hotel in Sapa, including breakfast the next morning.

Day 5

Pick up souvenirs at the colorful hill tribe market (F)

The day starts with a trip to the mountain folk market, if possible. This remote region is home to numerous ethnic minorities who meet on the local market and sell their products and trade there. You can buy your first gifts at the lively market and admire the colorful costumes and personal traits of the individual hilltribe peoples such as the Yao, Black Hmond, Zao or White Thai. In the afternoon, you leave the mountainous region and head back to Hanoi.
