This morning, we will skip, regular breakfast at hotel, but will experience a real local popular break “Bai sach chrouk” (Marinated pork with steam rice) in a local restaurant. The dish was featured in a CNN travel article as one of the “10 meals every visitor to Cambodia should try”.
After breakfast, we will get more deeper experience to witness how a busy life at the local market (wet market) at Central Market, where you see all fresh meats, life fishes, seafood, vegetable, and more….. After you may continue to souvenir section where tones of souvenir was displayed and for sales. You may also explore the surrounding of the market where different sections of business are conducted. Then it's time for lunch. Today you will enjoy another authentic street food near Soriya Mall. This place was very busy during lunch where most of the local come to have lunch during lunch break. After lunch, back to hotel for a short break and shower.
In the Afternoon, we visit the Royal Palace, built by King Norodom in 1866, and the Silver Pagoda, located within the grounds of the Royal Palace. The Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5,000 silver tiles. Continue to National Museum, one of Phnom Penh's true architectural gems. The Museum is instantly recognizable with its warm red terracotta and its gracefully cured roof topped by dozens of guardian Nagas. It was designed in Khmer style in 1917 by famed French architect Georges Groslier&Ecole Des Arts Cambodgiens. Last stop at Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21 prison). This prison was a high school, and used as a prison by Pol Pot's security forces and became the largest center for detention and torture during the rule of the Khmer Rouge.
For dinner, we head out to Orussey Market for street food.Meet local people and taste truly authentic local food. There are many varieties to try such as fried noodles with beef and noodle soup. The perfect spot to possibly try “baby duck egg” or marinated beef stick. After dinner, we return to hotel.
