The gentle grassy mountain landscape exudes harmony and security and invites you to enjoy. The summit zones above the tree line, on the other hand, allow you to experience boundless freedom and alpine mountain adventure. The daily changing terrain provides impressive variety and the mountain huts along the way do their bit. Experience living tradition up close and enjoy the Kitzbühel Alps! Here you can live out your wanderlust with 3 exciting hiking days all the way to Kitzbühel. You can stop off at many cozy huts on the mountain every day and enjoy regional delicacies for refreshment.

Day 1

Individual arrival

Arrive relaxed in Hopfgarten im Brixental and enjoy the day.

Day 2

Hopfgarten in Tirol - Brixen im Thale

This stage of the KAT Walk Compact is a panoramic hike from the very first step. The gondola lift ride takes you to the alpine pastures below the Hohe Salve. This is followed by an easy ascent to the Hohe Salve, one of the best panoramic mountains in Tyrol. Austria's highest pilgrimage church is located right at the summit. The descent via the Salvensee and Filzalmsee lakes is via picturesque paths. In Hochbrixen, you can take the gondola lift again for the rest of the descent - or you can continue on a path down to Brixen im Thale with its imposing double-towered church.

Day 3

Brixen im Thale - Kirchberg in Tirol

The ascent to the Brixenbachalm along an artistically designed crossroads is the first highlight of the day. You reach the Wiegalm, picturesquely nestled in a saddle, through open forest and alpine pasture terrain. From here it is only a short ascent to the long ridge of the Gaisberg. The geological structure of the uppermost part of the Gaisberg also changes the landscape and vegetation: limestone dominates with karst phenomena and mountain pine growth. The summit also offers a wonderful 360 degree panoramic view. The descent through a beautiful mixed forest can be shortened at the end by taking a chairlift.

Day 4

Kirchberg in Tirol - Kitzbühel

The third stage of the KAT Walk follows in the footsteps of the legendary Hahnenkamm race. You get a taste of the World Cup atmosphere: along the Streif race course, information boards explain famous sections of the course such as the Hausbergkante or the Mausefalle (descent also possible by cable car). The day's destination is the town center of the most legendary sports town in the Alps: Kitzbühel!

Day 5

Individual departure

With your Kitzbühel Alps Guest Card you can travel back to Hopfgarten by train from Kitzbühel or Kirchberg free of charge.
