Fethiye to Istanbul via Pamukkale & Ephesus 6 Day Tour

This morning its an early start with a pick-up from your accommodation to the local bus station.

Today's journey to Pamukkale will be on a local coach and when you arrive our guide will meet you and your tour of Pamukkale and Hierapolis will begin.

Pamukkale translated means, 'Cotton Castle’ and as you first arrive and set eyes on this strange white landscape you will instantly understand why.

On arrival in Pamukkale and before the tour begins you will have lunch, it will then be time to step onto the fantastic stepped pooled travertines and enjoying incredible vistas. 

The ancient ruins of Hierapolis lay just above the mountainside of white at Pamukkale. Once a thriving wealthy city, today the extensive remains take us into the past, the Amphitheatre at Hierapolis is stunning and not to be missed as are the baths, almost complete and amazingly still usable today, if you dont mind bathing alfresco.

After your tour you will continue your travel onto Ephesus.

Ephesus, once a mighty city and a port that traded from every corner of the globe. 

Today you will visit an amazing ancient city, much still remains, the city has weathered so well that we have an incredible insight into the life of the people that lived here over 3000 years ago, once the capital of Roman Asia, originally Ephesus sat at the water's edge of the Mediterranean, the busiest trade hub of its day, along the marble street you will see many different buildings such as the shops, civic buildings, prison, courthouse, latrines, brothel, agora and of coarse the grand Celsus Library.

Just outside the city limits, there are destinations of huge religious and historical significance. 

The House of the Virgin Mary. Important to many faiths,  is fascinating a humble home with an altar and a baptismal font it is widely believed that Mary spent her last years here. 

Not far is the Temple of Artemis, one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. The ancient temple ruins that we see today shows its incredible size.

After your day of touring Ephesus, we will take to to Izmir airport to catch your flight to  Istanbul. On arrival in Istanbul we will have a driver ready to take you to your accommodation.

The stunning and magical city of Istanbul.

Today you will visit some of the most famous destinations throughout this city. You will wander in the beautiful Blue Mosque that dominates the skyline with many its domes and 6 minarets. Just outside the mosque, you will see ancient Obelisks that show where the ancient Hippodrome once stood.  The beautiful building of the Hagia Sophia now a museum, was once a Byzantium Church, and a mosque for the Ottoman Empire. We will also visit the home of the Sultans and their many wives Topkapi Palace, an administration centre for over 400 years,  Later you will be able to enjoy shopping in the Grand Bazaar, the largest of its kind in the world with 4399 shops, 2195 workshops and 497 stalls.

Our recommendation:

At the end of the tour you will have some free time, we recommend visiting the Spice Bazaar to enjoy the sights and smells . You will be on your own here as its not part of your tour package, but you will have plenty of time to make your own way back to your hotel.

Blue Mosque due to prayers on Fridays we are unable to enter

Topkapi Palace is closed on Tuesdays
