Continue to the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas Temple, and the grand Terraces of the Elephants and the Leper King, each offering fascinating glimpses into the grandeur of the Khmer Empire.

We’ll drive to the floating village of Chong Khneas, a fascinating community where everyday life unfolds on the surface of Tonle Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. Step aboard a traditional wooden boat and cruise along the calm waters as you witness a truly unique way of life - floating homes, schools, churches, and even hospitals gently bobbing with the rhythm of the lake.

After returning to shore, we’ll continue our cultural journey with a visit to Artisans d’Angkor, a renowned workshop where local artisans preserve and revive traditional Khmer craftsmanship.

Our next stop is Wat Thmey, a serene yet sobering memorial site known as a Killing Field. Inside its glass-walled stupa, you’ll find the preserved remains of victims from the Khmer Rouge era - a poignant reminder of Cambodia’s turbulent past and the resilience of its people.

We’ll wrap up the day with a visit to Siem Reap’s bustling Old Market (Phsar Chas), where locals and travelers mingle among stalls brimming with colorful handicrafts, silver jewelry, spices, silk scarves, and souvenirs. After our temple adventure, we continue to the Baray village, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by a local family. Enjoy a delicious homemade lunch prepared with fresh ingredients straight from the village gardens - a true taste of rural Cambodian life.

This afternoon, experience the charming simplicity of village living with a pony cart ride through winding dirt paths and rice fields. Along the way, locals will share stories of their daily lives and traditions. We then begin our scenic journey to Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s bustling capital. Along the way, we’ll make a fascinating stop at Skuon, famously known as the “Spider Market.” By midday, we’ll arrive in Phnom Penh, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant on your own, before checking in at your hotel for a short rest.

In the afternoon, we’ll begin our half-day exploration of Phnom Penh, starting with the elegant Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, a shining symbol of Cambodia’s heritage and the residence of the country’s royal family. Admire the intricate Khmer architecture and the Silver Pagoda’s floor - crafted from over 5,000 gleaming silver tiles.

Our final stop of the day is Wat Phnom, perched atop a small hill surrounded by lush greenery. According to legend, this sacred site marks the very place where Phnom Penh was founded. Climb the gentle steps, light an incense stick, and take in panoramic views of the city - an inspiring way to end your first day in the capital.

After breakfast, set out for a cycling adventure that takes you beyond Phnom Penh’s bustling streets into the tranquil countryside. We’ll begin with a 10-kilometer bike ride toward Koh Dach Island, fondly known as the Silk Island. Cross the Mekong River by local ferry, watching as the city skyline fades behind you and lush rural landscapes unfold ahead.

Once on the island, pedal through orchards, small villages, and vegetable farms, where you’ll catch glimpses of daily life - farmers tending to crops, children waving from doorways, and the gentle rhythm of island living. Stop by a traditional silk-weaving village, where local artisans continue the age-old craft of hand-spinning and dyeing silk on wooden looms.

In the afternoon, shift from serenity to solemn reflection as we take a Tuk Tuk ride to visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21 Prison). Once a high school, this site became a chilling detention center during the Khmer Rouge regime. Walking through its haunting halls and exhibits provides deep insight into Cambodia’s tragic past and the resilience of its people.

We’ll then continue to the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek, located about 15 kilometers southwest of the city. This peaceful memorial site marks the final resting place of over 17,000 victims of the Khmer Rouge, many of whom were held at S-21. A walk through the site offers a moving tribute to those who lost their lives and a reminder of the importance of peace and compassion.
