Mount Meru’s impressive peak is standing at 4566 meters above sea-level, this impressive peak over shadows Arusha National park which is one of the only National Parks in Tanzania that allows canoeing safaris and affordable guided walks across buffalo filled plains. If you are looking for a further hiking challenges then Mount Meru summit is a great option and can be reached in 4 days of extremely scenic trekking up through rain forest filled with birds and even at Mariakamba hut areas you can come across elephant and buffalo thus the parks requirement to trek with a National Park ranger.
All Bush2Beach Safaris climbs are lead by highly qualified Kilimanjaro guides and porter crews. There are a few side trips allowing time for altitude gain to Little Meru and to soak in amazing views on the way up from every vantage point. If you are considering the “Twin Peak Challenge” then by climbing Mt Meru will give you the best views ever of the Kilimanjaro as it waits in a mystical fashion over a sea of low cloud for you. Accommodation is in mountain huts with icy cold showers and toilet facilities available if you feel like braving them. As with Kilimanjaro climbs most hikers will climb Meru at night (not a must on Meru) but it does give you the chance of catching an amazing sunrise over a blanket of low cloud as the sun begins to climb with Kili as a back drop. The descent also has two options available short route which basically back tracks along the same ascent route or the long route that will take you down through a heavily forested vehicle access path to a beautiful water fall for lunch and continuing onto the famous fig tree arch before trekking back to the gate and your safari transfer vehicle.
