Then our long-distance hiking trip on the Lechweg is just the thing for you. Experience pure nature and hiking pleasure on the 125-kilometer-long Lechweg. The starting point of this cross-border hiking tour is at Formarinsee in Lech am Arlberg. From there, the route leads first to Tyrol and finally to the Lechfall in the Allgäu. After eight days in the fresh air, you can start your everyday life with full vigor.

The starting point of your hiking trip on the Lechweg is in Lech am Arlberg. This multifaceted active holiday begins with a fantastic circular hike around Lake Formarin. This is exactly where the Lechweg originates at around 1,793 meters. The following day, the route takes you to Warth/surroundings, including a natural bathing lake and the highest dairy and butcher's shop in all of Vorarlberg. The next stage leads to Steeg/surroundings and the following day to Elbigenalp, where a particularly adrenaline-filled highlight awaits you: crossing the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Europe. The journey now leads to Stanzach and on to Höfen/surroundings and Pflach. On the last day of your hiking trip, you cross the border into Bavaria. You can already see the picturesque castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein from afar. The final destination is the impressive Lechfall and Füssen - this is where you end your eight-day hiking trip on the Lechweg.

Arrival in Lech am Arlberg
Formarinsee Circular Hike
In the morning, the hiking bus takes you to the idyllic Formarinsee, where the Lechweg begins at around 1,793 meters. Enjoy the fantastic view of the sparkling mountain lake before heading back to Lech am Arlberg via the Lech riverside path in the middle of the mountains.

Lech am Arlberg – Steeg/Surroundings
Enjoy a relaxed hike along the Lech Valley across green alpine meadows, past grazing cows and through shady forests. Again and again you are treated to magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and the Lech lying deep below. From Warth, take the bus to Steeg. More enduring hikers can cover the entire route on foot.

Steeg/Surroundings – Elbigenalp
Leisurely on the Jochweg-path always along the Lech riverside until you reach the beautiful village of Holzgau, which is characterised by its colourful painted houses. There a very special highlight awaits with the crossing of one of Europe’s longest and most spectacular pedestrian suspension bridges. You proceed across blooming meadows and forest paths to Elbigenalp, the geographic centre of the Lechtal-valley and heartland of the traditional wood craft.

Elbigenalp – Stanzach
A picturesque nature reserve leads you to Häselgehr, where you should visit the parish church with its magnificent furnishings, which is well worth seeing, before continuing your way up to the Doser waterfall. There are many legends and stories surrounding this mysterious natural phenomenon. A mountain path with fantastic views of the "wild river" takes you to Stanzach, a tranquil village in the middle of a fantastic mountain world.

Stanzach – Höfen/Surroundings
Today the river Lech presents itself once more from its wildest side: you hike across a rugged river landscape, past the Lechzopf to Forchach, where another suspension bridge taunts brave hikers to cross over. Across the Johannesbrücke-bridge and through the Moosberg-nature reserve you hike to Weissenbach, cross the river Rotlech and via gentle riverside paths reach the quiet little village of Höfen.

Höfen/Surroundings – Füssen
On the panoramic trail with its stunning views, you reach the sparkling Frauensee lake above the Reutten valley basin and into the Pflacher Au, which delights both nature lovers and those seeking relaxation. You then hike to the charming village of Pflach, from where you take the bus to Füssen. Or alternatively hike to Füssen.
