Welcome to Olgii. The tour will start upon arrival in Olgii. There are several ways to get to Olgii. The first and main one is by plane. If you need help booking domestic flights, please let us know. Alternatively, you can come by car or bus. In this case, please let us know in advance so that we can pick you up when you arrive in town. As soon as we meet you, we will move on to the family of eagle hunters. Drive on a dirt road for about 3 hours. Meet a nomadic eagle hunter family that lives in a remote area. Enjoy family hospitality.
Itinerary
Welcome to Mongolia, a land of endless stunning nature and home to nomads. Bayan-Olgiy province is the westernmost part of Mongolia where you can visit the nomadic Kazakhs who are well known for their traditional hunting with golden eagles. During the tour, you have the opportunity to stay in their winter house, which is located in the heart of the Altai Mountains. In addition, you can explore their ancient cultures based on Islam and a bit of shamanism. The Kazakh people are very friendly and feel free to take pictures and videos. Warm discussions about their traditions during dinner. You will become a part of a real eagle hunting on horseback. The eagle hunter will demonstrate how he trains his eagle and if we are lucky you can see the eagle catching a fox or a rabbit in real action.
The tour is based in winter time from October to March.

Real Eagle hunting
Today you have the opportunity to become a part of a real eagle hunting. Put on warm clothes and get on the horse. We trek to the side of the mountain and check the valleys where foxes and rabbits probably live. Whether we meet real animals along the way or not depends on luck. But the highlight in itself is the horseback riding in the Altai Mountains. An eagle hunter will show us how he trains his eagle and feel free to take photos and videos.

Say goodbye to the eagle hunter's family and drive to another eagle hunter's place. There are over two hundred eagle hunters in our province. The main reason why people could keep such an ancient tradition is a nomadic way of living that people practice for millenniums. Today we visit another eagle hunters family and you can experience more about their traditions.

Another real eagle hunting
Now you are a little experienced and will be part of a real eagle hunting. Nomadic families migrate up to 4 times a year. And it's a really hard life. Migrating to such cold weather with babies and grazing your animals for about 4-5 days is that work. There are many experiences that you can only find in this remote corner of the world. Enjoy your homestay at eagle hunter's family.

Drive back to Olgii. Upon arrival in the town, you will be transferred to your hotel. Take your time and we'll take you to dinner. Farewell dinner with the team at a local restaurant

Be ready for varied weather and climate. The climate can quickly change from hot and sunny, to stormy and tumultuous. If there are any questions about the locations during any season or time, we are happy to answer these promptly.
The local nomads also have a large number of traditions that have been passed down through the generations that pertain to their living. Please respect these traditions and try not to hurt their feelings.
Cancellations Policy:
Discover Altai team has a very easy and reasonable cancellation policy. Please alert us to a cancellation as early as possible.
- Cancellation more than a month before departure will result in payment of 300 USD reimbursements.
- Cancellation less than a month before departure will result in payment of 600 USD reimbursements.
- And the rest of the payment will be refunded

We are not responsible for: cancellation or delays on domestic flights. Your personal or medicinal needs are your responsibility and should be examined or taken care of before initiating a tour. Realize that any risks of injury facilitated by your own actions are not the responsibility of our team. If something is lost or misplaced, the team is not responsible.
