Program zájezdu

Day 1

ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU

The excitement begins as your plane touches down at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the gateway to the Everest region. Here you will meet your personal guide who will take you by private vehicle to your hotel to freshen up and relax after a long journey. In the evening, enjoy a briefing and then its off to a cultural program with traditional Nepali foods.

Day 2

FLY TO LUKLA, TREK TO PHAKDING (Elev. 2,652 m/8,700 ft.)

The morning comes leaving you refreshed from a good night’s sleep in the Himalayan air. After breakfast, travel to the domestic airport for a flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. It’s a wonderful 35 minute flight over the very backbone of the Himalayas. At Lukla, the trek begins with a half-day trek to the village of Phakding where you will spend the night. There are scenic views of Mt. Numbur Himal and Phari, a taste of even greater magnificence to come. Cross the Dudh Koshi River, enjoy a pleasant lunch while gazing at Mt. Kusum-Kangaru (elev. 6,369 m/20,890 ft.)

Day 3

TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR

Namche Bazaar is the main village of the Khumbu or Everest region, and its our destination today. The principle village is built into the side of the hill with colorful stone houses that ascend up the incline. It takes us around 5 – 6 hours to reach Namche Bazaar as we officially enter Sagarmatha National Park. We are rewarded with some of our first spectacular views of Mt. Everest along with many other peaks as we trek to the Sherpa capital.

Day 4

TREK TO KYANJUMA

While many treks take an acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar, we are going to take a trail that will give us an opportunity to acclimatize as well as enjoy scenic views. Today’s trek is what we call “Nepali level” with ups and downs but basically the same elevation as Namche Bazaar. Most people never visit Kyanjuma but this is probably one of the best places to see Himalayan wildlife. Here we can see musk deer, pheasants, wild Himalayan goats and many more while viewing Mt. Ama Dablam (elev. 6,812 m/22m348 ft,) We will spend the night either iniKyanjuma or Sanasa for the night. Trekking time is 3 - 4 hours.

Day 5

TREK TO PANGBOCHE

Today’s trail weaves its ways downhill in order to cross the Imja-tse River and Phungithanga and then uphill through forests of silver fir, blue pines and rhododendron trees. We look around and see several snowcapped peaks. We come across a very large Buddhist monastery (Gumba) as well as passing Mani Walls (prayer walls carved in stone) to reach the village of Pangboche where we will spend the night. We will trek for between 5 and 6 hours to reach our tea house for the night.

Day 6

TREK TO DINGBOCHE

We will cross above the tree line today as we make our way to the village of Dingboche. The tall trees of the first part of our trek are now replaced by low lying junipers. The farms up here grow barley, buckwheat, potatoes and some other vegetables. The wind here always blows as we reach this new elevation. What does replace the trees is absolute amazing alpine scenery as we can look in all directions at the snowcapped peaks and deep, green valleys below. In the villages, we see stone walls that help to shield the crops from the ever present winds as well as hungry animals.  It takes us around 3 – 4 hours to reach Dingboche where we will spend two nights.

Day 7

ACCLIMATIZATION AT DINGBOCHE

We were able to avoid the first of the acclimatization days here in the Everest region by trekking to Kyanjuma, but today we must stop as we’ve reached some very high altitudes. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is a very real problem with the thin mountain air. The best way to prevent it is to allow your body a day to acclimatize. We’ll do some day hiking here at Dingboche as we’ll walk to Chhukung (elev. 4,730 m/15,518 ft.). We’ll return back to Dingboche for the night.

Day 8

TREK TO LOBUCHE

It’s a bit of a climb today to reach the little village of Lobuche. There are not many villages up this way as the elevation is high and the ground not the best for farming. We enjoy some wonderful views of the various mountains of the eastern Khumbu region. Lobuche is a small village with a few tea houses where we can enjoy pleasant accommodations and a hot meal.

Day 9

TREK TO GORAKSHEP, HIKE TO EVEREST BASE CAMP

Today we reach our destination of Everest Base Camp. We leave Lobuche behind as we make our way to the tea houses of Gorak Shep (elev. 5,160 m/16,929 ft.) Gorak Shep only exists to accommodate those trekkers who want to make it to EBC as well as those preparing to climb Mt. Everest. The Gorak Shep valley stretches below us with its beautiful greenery while amazing snowcapped peaks raise majestically all around. It is a beautiful day of trekking as we cross a glacial moraine. We drop our gear at Gorak Shep and then hike to EBC where there is always plenty of activity. It takes around 2 – 3 hours to reach EBC and then back to Gorak Shep for the night. Total trekking time today is 7 – 8 hours.

Day 10

HIKE TO TOP OF MT. KALA PATTHAR, TREK TO PHERICHE

We’ve had some spectacular views of Mt. Everest, but today we will see the finest one as we ascend to the top of Mt. Kala Patthar. This mountain is a trekking peak which means we can climb it without any specialized equipment. It’s about a two our walk to the summit where we will be able to view Mt. Everest in all of its majestic glory. We return and pick up our gear at Gorak Shep, then descend to the village of Pheriche. Our total walking time is 7 – 8 hours today before putting in at a lodge in Pheriche.

Day 11

TREK TO TENGBOCHE

We continue our downhill trek to reach the village of Tengboche with its massive monastery. This gumba is the highest Buddhist monastery in the world with Mt. Everest as its backdrop. Tengboche is a beautiful village with amazing alpine views. Trekking time is 4 – 5 hours.

Day 12

TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR

We return to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar. We’ve crossed the tree line and we are now experiencing more and more forests with richer looking farms. We cross the Dudh Koshi River to reach Namche Bazaar where we will spend the night.

Day 13

TREK TO LUKLA

It’s our final day of trekking as we leave Namche Bazaar and head back into the dense alpine jungles. We cross rivers while monkeys chatter in the trees. We are retracing our steps to reach the airport at Lukla. We’ll spend the night here with a great dinner celebrating our victory of reaching EBC and returning back. Trekking time is 7 – 8 hours.

Day 14

FLY TO KATHMANDU

We board the plane for a short 40 minute flight over the amazing Himalayan peaks to reach the legendary capital city of Nepal. It’s a day to relax or explore the city.

Day 15

FREE TIME IN KATHMANDU

Because of uncertain weather conditions at Lukla, we always build into the trip an extra day just in case the plane cannot fly. Himalayan weather is always unpredictable, and we try to anticipate potential scheduling problems. If we fly out on Day 14, then use this day to explore all the sites the Kathmandu Valley has to offer. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with your guide and porters at a really good Nepali restaurant.

Day 16

DEPARTURE

It’s the final day here in Kathmandu as you prepare for your departure for your next destination. If there is time before you need to leave for the airport, plan to do some last minute souvenir shopping. Your guide will take you by private car to the airport and on to your next destination.  It’s been a great time in Nepal. There is still so much more to see and do in the magical land of the Himalayas. Why not plan a return trip?
