Itinerary

The Classic Inca Trail is the most famous hike in South America – perhaps the world. It is a must-do and one of the biggest highlights of your trip to Peru. It offers 4 days of trekking along original paved Inca pathways and a range of spectacular Inca ruins along the way. The stunning scenery is breath taking. The Classic Inca Trail spans through altitudes in the valley from 2,700 m (8,856 ft) to mountain passes of 4,215 m (13,825 ft). Finally it passes through the cloud forest to arrive at the majestic Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu itself.

Hiking the Inca Trail is one of those things that everyone should do once in their life!

Besides our constant deliverance of good quality services, there is one more reason to join us on the Inca Trail tour: Action Peru Treks has dedicated itself to a very important project which involves Empowering Women on the Inca Trail in 2022. We plan to have only women working as porters on the Classic Inca Trail. This is because Action Peru Treks believes women have been underestimated, unappreciated or even mistreated for far too long in Peru. We believe anyone can use a helping hand and an opportunity and Peru should keep up with the worldwide trend of Empowering Women. So we are now trying to give a chance to Peruvian women to finally have the same jobs, and social positions as men, because they deserve it.

We need a minimum of 2 people to run the trek. We guarantee that your trek will be limited to a maximum of 12 people per group.

Upon reaching Kilometer 82 (Piscacucho), where the Classic Inka Trail begins, we will meet our porters. Afterward, we pass through the Inca trail checkpoint to commence our trail adventure.

Ayapata – Dead Woman’s Pass – Pacaymayu – Chaquicocha

After breakfast, we embark on a hike to the renowned Dead Woman’s Pass. For the first two hours, we traverse the cloud forest, passing through various biomes and enjoying sightings of diverse plants and birdlife. If lucky, White-Tailed Deer may make an appearance!

We pause at Lluchapampa, the last supply stop on the trail, before continuing toward Warmiwañusca or “Dead Woman’s Pass” (4,215 meters/13,825 feet), a two-hour ascent offering breathtaking mountain vistas.

Following lunch at the Pacaymayu camp, we’ll climb for about 45 minutes to reach the Inca site of Runcuraccay. A further uphill trek of one hour takes us to the Runcuraccay pass (3,950 meters/12,959 feet).

After a 90-minute descent, we arrive at the Inca site of Sayacmarca (3,657 meters/12,000 feet), a perfect spot for capturing stunning sunsets over the Aobamba Valley.

Finally, we reach our campsite at Chaquicocha (3,600 meters/11,800 feet), chosen for its serene and remote location, allowing for a truly immersive experience in the Andes.

Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Machu Picchu – Cusco

We rise very early on our final day to complete the last few kilometers of the Inca Trail.

Leaving after breakfast, the trekking here is fairly easy going for around an hour, and brings us directly to Inti Punku or the “Sun Gate”. This is the ancient entrance of the sacred city and gives us our first incredible views of Machu Picchu and (weather permitting) the spectacular sunrise over the Andes.

Our trek ends with one final 45-minute downhill hike to the entrance gates of the city.

We will go to the classic photo spot for pictures as soon as we arrive. Then there will be a short break before starting our 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu through circuit 3. All of our guides are experts in the history and mythology of the site, and really bring the visit to life!

After the tour we travel to Aguas Calientes by bus and then take the train to Poroy or Ollantaytambo where our private transportation will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel in Cusco.

Arrival time in Cusco depends on the time of your train ticket but will be in the evening around 8 pm where your adventure on the 4 day Inca Trail has come to an end!

  • If you arrive in Cusco and did not advise us that you have a new passport number, and that your information has changed, Action Peru Treks will not be held responsible. In this situation it will be the responsibility of the customer to pay the extra expense of returning to Cusco or Machu Picchu (transportation, food and other expenses).
  • PARTICIPANT RELEASE AND CONSENT TO ENGAGE IN POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ACTIVITY
  • By agreeing to this Release, I, the undersigned Participant, acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions:

Definitions:

  • The following definitions will apply to this Release:
  • “Action Peru Treks” means a walking and hiking trip to/at/in Cusco region conducted by The Action Peru Treks company, as more fully described in the information provided to me by the Action Peru Treks team.
  • “I”, “Me”, or “Participant” means me, the person agreeing to this Release.
  • “Release” means this Participant Release and Consent to Engage in Potentially Dangerous Activity.

Warnings:

  • Participating in any Action Peru Treks Adventure involves potentially strenuous physical activity. You should consult with a doctor prior to engaging in the Adventure or in any training in preparation for the Adventure.
  • Exercise is only one part of being healthy, seeing your doctor is another. If, at any time during a training session (whether it is a group session, individual personal training session, self-training session, pre-event training, or other related team activities), you suffer any mishap or injury, we urge you to stop your activity immediately and seek professional medical attention.
  • Any materials provided to you by Action Peru Treks and its team is intended to provide general information about walking, hiking and safety while participating in the Adventure, and other events and tours. It is not intended to act as a medical manual, or guide to self-treatment. Keep in mind that exercise, health and nutritional needs vary from person to person, depending on age, gender, family medical history, current health status, and other individual factors. Before engaging in these, or any other exercise, or recreational activities, we urge all individuals to consult a qualified health professional. He or she is best qualified to advise you about your specific health status, needs and ability to participate in any physical activity.

Risks:

  • I am aware that participating in the Adventure includes participating in activities that have certain inherent risks. These activities include, but are not limited to: walking, trekking, hiking, and animal viewing. Some of these activities may occur in remote and wilderness areas.
  • I am further aware that should I incur any illness or injury during the Adventure, access to emergency personnel, doctors, and hospitals or other treatment facilities may be limited, and that there may be long delays and difficult and potentially painful travel to get to a hospital or other treatment facility. These delays and travel conditions may cause any illness or injury to become worse during such delay and due to such travel required to reach needed professional help.

WHILE UNLIKELY, THE RISKS INVOLVED IN PARTICIPATING IN THE ADVENTURE INCLUDE THE RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUS BODILY INJURY.

Representations:

  • I acknowledge that Action Peru Treks will not allow me to participate in the Adventure unless I agree to the terms of this Release.
  • I desire to participate in the Adventure. I am agreeing to participate in the Adventure as a free and voluntary act. I recognize that participating in the Adventure has certain inherent risks. I have been advised of the Warnings listed above.
  • Assumption of Risk and Release:
  • As part of the consideration for participating in the Adventure and any related activity: I ASSUME ALL OF THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH PARTICIPATING IN THE TREKS
  • I release and discharge Action Peru Treks from any and all claims which I have or may have in the future against Action Peru Treks and its team arising out of or in any way related to my participation in the Adventure.
  • Without limiting the foregoing, this release includes a release of all claims I may have for wrongful death, injury or property damage.
  • This release will be binding on all of my heirs, successors and assigns.
  • Right to Use Name and Likeness:
  • I further grant Action Peru Treks and its team the right to use my name, voice, likeness, and image, including photograph and electronic pictures or video showing or describing my participation in the Adventure, in any advertising of any type, without payment of any additional consideration.
  • I further waive any right I may have to review or approve the use of my name, voice, likeness or image.

I execute this Hiker Release and Consent to Engage in Potentially Dangerous Activity on the scheduled date.
